@@markthoney6434 if Jeff isn't already in the IBHOF that is criminal. The guy was dominant at his weight class for almost an entire decade. Jeff was one of the top PNP boxers in the 80's. I put him right up there with a guy like Michael Carbajal. I guess you need to buy your way into the IBHOF.
Joltin Jeff Chandler was a special fighter in South Philly and around the world. Only two amateur fights and within several years Bantamweight Champion of the World! Another great one Rich and thanks!
Outstanding presentation. I always looked forward to watching Chandler in the early 1980s. A beautiful boxer with every move in the book, and could punch as well. Too bad there wasn't overlap with Zarate, who was astonishingly gifted, and near the very top of fighters I saw live. He looked very different in person compared to TV. Zarate vs Chandler would've been special. Chandler's career reminded me of a saying from a friend from Puerto Rico, who said that boxers from Mexico and Philly are pretty much the same. For every Salvador Sanchez and Ricardo Lopez, you also have a Julio Cesar Chavez and Ruben Olivares. At the same time, for every Joe Frazier and Bennie Briscoe, there's a Jeff Chandler and Tyrone Everett. Boxers, punchers, all great, and a deep and diversified history that's almost unmatched.
Thank you Rich. The one fighter I was so close to asking whether you were ever going to put a documentary together about, and one of my first boxing hero's. So underrated in US boxing history. Chandler vs Pintor was one the great fights that never happened!
Great documentary Rich, and pleased Chandler never went downhill and got swallowed up with the street life. Jolting Jeff was a fantastic boxer, the smaller divisions are just so more competitive. Such a shame a unification fight with Pintor never happened, it may of been a classic trilogy of fights. Wonderful story regarding his relationship with his trainer and manager husband & wife team, what a wonderful character she must of been, and Willie O’Neils boxing intelligence and wisdom would of been a boxing historians dream to listen to about the old boxers of the past. Wonderful Rich, many thanks.🥊
I’ve said it more times than I can remember at this point but no one can come close to providing the wonderful documentaries of both the great, well-known fighters; but also of some of the most niche, barely acknowledged fighters who still deserve to be given recognition for giving so much to a sport that is both beautiful and amazing, but which has exacted such a price from these warriors. Thanks again, Rich!!
Hey Rich thanx for the trip down memory lane! These names bring back so many memories Chandler, Dancing Machine Carter, Becky Oneil,Julian Solis, Murata the list goes on and on.
I remember Joltin' Jeff. He was a very good boxer/puncher. Also, it was cool to have an American champion in a division mostly dominated by Latinos and Asians. He was thin but had a hell of a rock solid and muscular physique. I wouldn't have messed with him! Thanks Rich for another great video.
Jeff Chandler was a great fighter. I remember all the major boxing mags hyping up a potential unification between Chandler & Pintor. That would have been a hell of a fight.
Thank you for creating such an incredible documentary of my bubba (KO) becky, my grandpa and Jeffs story! We have some of her original photos etc., but really incredible to see video footage! Great job - very true to who they were. Thank you!
This video was great ( another gem) still got some of Chandler's fights on bata-max cassettes with old 1980s commercials that my old man recorded . As a kid remember him as a very solid champion who meant business . Might be real difficult but maybe a short documentary on his manager Becky O'Neil , seems like a very interesting / funny character 🥊

Now those Carter and Muniz fights were outstanding and one can only wonder how different boxing would be if there were more managers and coaches like Chandler's, too many leeches out there trying to fleece the fighters.
Outstanding! I was a big fan of Joltin' Jeff, and the one time I got a group of my friends to watch one of his fights was the Sandoval fight. I forgot about the Muniz fights, and would have loved to have seen him in a fight with Pintor. It should have happened after the Canizales fight. Great job Rich, you are doing a service to these guys, boxing is a thankless sport and people tend to forget them when they are no longer champion, or actively fighting. 🥊

His powerful right hand, his dexterous lead, and his lanky frame really did remind me of Tommy hearns But his competency from the inside fight made me think more of sandy saddler
At the time I thought Jeff was good but overrated as were most East coast fighters. But he proved to be an all time great. I usually cheered against him but I always respected him. Thank you and especially thanks to Mr.Jeff Chandler.
It's a beautiful and rare thing to see the bond that Chandler had with those two people . The Carter fight was a masterclass in inside fighting .You could see when he moved up he didn't have the same strength to fight off the ropes cos his opponents were stronger and he couldn't push them off just that little bit to give him the space to work . Great video ....and a nice ending which is rare from that era of fighting
Great video coverage Rich 💯 you scared me a little i didn't want to hear the streets of South Philly eat him up. What a wonderful ending; i hate his career was cut do to cataracts. He was a true warrior, champion; HOF 🥊🥊💪🏆
