[2012] World's Largest Anime District : Akihabara, Tokyo [iPhone 4S/HD]

- Akihabara, also called as Akiba, was an electric town when I was a kid. I remember that in those days my grandma called the town not Akihabara, but Akibahara. I didn't know the town was once called by a different name and I was like: 'Hey, grandma! Not Akibahara but Akihabara!'. Come to think of it, 秋葉原 (Akihabara in Kanji) can be pronounced in both ways, Akihabara and Akibahara. But I've digressed.
People used to visit there to get electronic parts, audio components, or home appliances at that time. It is still the largest electric town in Japan, but it is now more well-known as an "otaku town" and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tokyo. You can find everything about anime, manga, games and other "otaku" things there. Even if you are not interested in them, it could be still fun to feel the Akiba atmosphere and get electronic equipment at a reasonable price.

Japan is not anything like anime and it isn't a utopia either the problem is feeling alienation and culture shock there if you can handle that kind of stuff you'll have a great time here but expect to be lonely in your first months or year it can take a while to meet people just my two cents of advice have a nice day.

Some people are talking about the black guy and the Asian guy (probably Japanese) at 4:38. I think I should describe something. The clip was taken at the camera department in a large electronics store where you can try new model cameras. It seemed like they were friends. I was pretty sure, when I saw them, the Asian guy was trying one and pretending to shoot his friend in fun. It surprised me that some people considered it as rude or discrimination just because someone was pointing a camera at a black guy. I should be considered as very rude and as a racist. There are some black girls and guys in my videos :P

I worked at Iwamo tocho for a year. So near to akihabara. I bought my yamaha keyboard at akihabara. Nice place. Hope to be back again at tokyo.
Been to japan in 2010, also went to Akihabara to get some electronics :) Japan is lovely, special in a lot of ways and i will go again some day. Nice video, brings up a lot of memories.

I've been to Akihabara... Sigh. When I was in my teenage "anime is too childish for me" phase. So I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I could've. T_T I hope I can save up and go back to Japan someday.

People have to remember that Japan is not exposed to many outsiders. It doesn't matter if you're black, white, purple or whatever else. You're still looked at the same.
So in a sense your no more discriminated against then anyone else who's a foreigner. Still though you get treated better than you do back home.

You were completely misinformed Japan strives hugely to cut down on pollution Tokyo has a very low pollution amount some US cities have even more. I've herd about China smog sorta adding pollution to Japan.
