I REALLY Liked The Garfield Movie

  • 20 years later we get a brand new theatrical adaptation of the beloved orange cat, Garfield. But not all is well amongst critics, just like its predecessors two decades ago. So today I will ride gallantly into the depths of the internet to defend this film, as I genuinely enjoyed it. Let's see if the internet agrees with me, shall we? Enjoy.

I feel like critics just don’t know how to loosen up and have fun. If the movie was fun and entertaining it deserves high score. I can’t forgive how the rotten tomatoes did to the super Mario bros movie

You're telling me I was just so happy to see a cartoon movie bring slapstick back. I haven't seen that kind of humor in quite some time and they didn't just do an endless pile of meta humor just a few moments.

That the thing it okay to do a review but if your putting things to impossible standers than seeing what the film's message and moral is trying to tell you than your going to end up failing to see what the story is telling you

I think people are just tired of remakes. Netflix has "Wednesday," "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," "Riverdale" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender," Disney has been remaking almost every film they've ever done, and now DreamWorks is doing a remake of "How To Train Your Dragon." You got to admit the American entertainment industry seems rather flush with them.

Critics these days look for agendas for points. SMB and the Garfield movie actually did the opposite. Both films were sit back and relax. Not to mention, TGM had a father/son forgiveness plot. Something Hollywood hates these days.

I really enjoyed the Garfield movie. The plot actually hit kinda close to home for me, which made it even better. I won't get specific, but I really sympathized with Garfield cuz of his relationship with Vic. I know how Garfield feels. I completely understood why he at first resented him, but also can be happy for him cuz they were able to make up by the end.

Yeah, my dad gives me a hard time. But the fact that moment that Vic does care for him and (spoilers) left them get captured and sent them to the pound because he was trying to save them because he knew Jinx isn’t gonna let them off the hook. Kinda resonates with me and my dad. If you ask me, I would choose this over Inside Out 2 anytime, because I can’t stand Disney nowadays for their horrible business strategies and driven goals if you know what I mean.

I always felt like "Garfield" was more of a 20-40 minute special kind of media franchise because the source material has more of a Saturday morning cartoon vibe. Plus, the comics always had a more slice of life feel to them. I don't know if there are kids' anime that uses the genre, but I remember there used to be a rather slow-paced, heartfelt Christmas special where Jon wen to visit his family. I think the brand is better suited for TV shows.

Thank you for giving a positive reaction to this movie. I really don't get why so many reviews are talking so badly about it. Did they not just sit back and enjoy the movie? Anyways, personally, I loved The Garfield Movie. So did my sister. I think this is the movie that Garfield himself and his fan base deserved. The world has been waiting 35 years for Garfield to have his own animated full length movie, ever since Garfield's Judgement Day got cancelled. In other words: It's About Time! And I'm really happy with this movie. Sure it's nothing particularly over the top or groundbreaking, but the movie is true to what makes Garfield the cat, Garfield the cat. Besides, Garfield's own creator Jim Davis was the executive producer. It's funny, enjoyable and a bit heartwarming. I do sense that they played it safe with this movie by keeping the story and the animation a bit simple, but I think that actually helped the movie overall. It makes the movie that much more relatable to the comics and the original popular show of the 1980s. As for the voice acting, I thought everyone actually fit their respective roles including Chris Pratt. Lorenzo Music will always be the undisputed best voice of Garfield, but (unlike the 2000s Garfield show, which I simply got used to Garfield's husky voice) I actually feel like Chris Pratt is a worthy successor to voice Garfield. I honestly think he pretty much nailed it and actually sounds like Garfield. I'm also excited to see the sequel they promised at the end. Since this movie was a bit safe as there was no guarantee to how the public would respond, I can imagine (that after The Garfield Movie's clear box office success) that the sequel will be a bolder movie building on this film's establishment's success.

People keep saying that the Garfield movie doesn't follow the source material. I disagree because some Garfield movies and shows don't follow it either and it got away with it, kinda. Take the movie "Garfield Gets Real" where there are two worlds, the comic world and the real world. Not a great movie though. Also, in the CG Garfield Show, it was established that it's a show within a show. There was one episode where all the characters are played by Garfield because everyone hates Garfield's overblown Stardom. Oh, yeah. And I like this film. It's by far the most adventuress Garfield movie that I've seen.
