It’s way more than that, it’s actually great! Hilarious, very emotional heartfelt and actually made by people who are fans of Garfield and who truly care about and respect it. It’s my favourite movie of the year so far! :-)
@@SuperMoviemaster21 I LITERALLY came in blind today to see it in theaters, and I still didn't like it. Even if it's similar to other's thoughts, it's still my own opinion too, dude.
Critics were more appalled by Chris Pratt's role, how it set up as a heist action plot similar to Mission Impossible and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, shoehorned product placement/app references, Garfield using a smartphone to use drones delivery of food, and it being toned down for kids, than a fuzzy small infant Garfield.
I thought the movie was just fine but there were flaws I had with the movie such as: Jon only appearing in the movie for only 8 minutes, product placement, a couple of jokes didn’t land ESPECIALLY the “tom cruise” joke, Chris Pratt as Garfield was okay but didn’t sound like a lazy monday hating lasagna loving cat, Garfield didn’t exactly changed as a character throughout the movie other than he loves his dad again, Garfield wasn’t & didn’t felt lazy or bored, & should’ve learned more about Vic other than him being Garfield’s father. Overall I thought it was just fine, a 6 or 7/10 fine.
Wait, WHAT? I was all ready to go try and see the movie, but if my darling Jon is only there for EIGHT MINUTES there’s no way I’ll be watching it. No freaking way. Jon’s my favorite part of the whole franchise, and I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who’d agree with me. Why would they push him out of so much of the plot??
This is basically similar to Smurfs the lost village, people gave it mixed reviews although it was better received and became a box office bomb. Since the Garfield movie is by Sony, it's another loss for the studio
The Garfield movie is already a massive hit. Garfield has already made back all of its production budget from overseas markets, weeks before it even released domestically. So whatever it makes domestically is just gravy, because its already made back its costs.
Hot take: I actually liked the live action Garfield movie over the animated movie. But not the sequel one of course. Also, if the reviews go the same way in Despicable Me 4, I wouldn’t be surprised. But if the same reviews go the same way in Inside Out 2, well…you know the rest. But I doubt that will happen.
I suggest you check out Garfield and Friends and some of the early specials 2D for Garfield always works for me it gives it that comic book feel. Plus no disrespect to Pratt or even Murray but, Lorenzo Music is THE voice of Garfield.
Yeah and Frank Welker as well. Why they won't let Welker be involved? He is the closet to having the Lorenzo Music voice. They were ok with him voicing Scooby-Doo in movies before.
Garfield on the different posters remind me of Gnomeo and Juliet with their '' jokes '' about Game of Gnome or Indiana Gnome. It's not funny, it's lazy... hey now that i think about it, it represent well the famous cat. Nevermind, thoses posters are brillant!

I totally agree with you. I actually enjoy this film for what it is. I do not agree with other people, especially the film critics who are shredding this movie to pieces. Sure, it’s not perfect but I still had fun watching it despite its shortcomings. I was surprised that Snoop Dog actually played one of those cats in the film (the one with the eyepatch, btw). I decided to watch this movie as long as it involves Garfield who hates Mondays and he loves lasagna very much. That’s what I was expecting. I don’t really care about the critics and/or the haters criticizing Chris Pratt playing Garfield, at all. He did a really fine job, as far as I’m concerned. To me, the film was decently enjoyable. Definitely not the worst animated film at all. I probably enjoyed that more so than Kung Fu Panda 4 but that’s just my own opinion. Sorry about my very lengthy comment. I just want to say my thoughts and two cents on the subject manner. That’s all. Take care and have a good one.
Me when Captain America uses Mjollnir in endgame: ok. (genuinely) me when Nermal appeared at the end of the Garfield movie: OMG THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!
I wouldn’t say The Garfield Movie is bad, more formulaic, played it really safe on what they could do with another Garfield feature film, It’s not anything special at all. The animation was ok, sort of capturing Jim Davis’s signature style of animation, but not entirely. Most of the characters were also nothing special, with Jon getting a little to no screen time which was sadly very predictable. The film also surprisingly didn’t rely too much on references or callbacks, being more reliant on recognizability more than anything. Just like most of modern Garfield, this movie fails to understand the appeal of Garfield and just kind of does whatever they want with him. It was enjoyable nonetheless, but nothing remarkable.
I haven't seen this movie yet. Ever since I saw the trailer I thought this movie seemed a bit off. Because it's about Garfield Oddie and Vic instead of Garfield Oddie and John. Also I don't think Chris Pratt as Garfield sounds bad. But it will take a bit of getting used to. I don't think this movie looks as bad as people are saying it is. Great job on this review! Hope you have a great day!

Ofc the movie deviates from the source material, but, who cares at this point? Consistency is thrown off the cliff yet somehow nails a lot of the animation sequences. So when are you going to rank every Pixar movie of the 2020s like I requested or every Sony movie or Disney movie or illumination movie, it’s been a week🧐
I actually thought it was a fun movie, maybe not as good as Cats don't dance or The Emperor's new groove, but definetly better than Chicken Little and the Garfield live action movies. Not the best but still fun, but I still think that this movie belongs to pre Spiderverse Sony Animation
I liked it honestly, it was fun and I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a point that did make me tear up. It does play it safe, but with a sequel reportedly in the works I'm hoping they'll do more exciting ideas with the characters
i loved the garfield movie tbh. only issue i had with it was the lack of nermal because he was the main "bad guy" of garfield and they couldve had him as like a spy for jinx
Watched it with my mom, I have bias, but it was okay definitely not perfect. There needed to be a different VA for Garfield, he has always had a monotone voice. The story was mid and the villain's motive couldn't be any more stupid. But the animation was cute and cartoony. The backstory with Garfield's dad watching over him all his years is sweet
Garfield is fine, and I enjoyed it. If you have kids, want to take them to the theater and really cant wait another two weeks for Inside Out 2 (or in the unlikely chance that Inside Out 2 is terrible) theyll have a good time but unless you fit into that description or are a really big Garfield fan you should probably wait till it's on streaming in a few months
I know one rule of cinema. If it is animated/family feature, never trust the critics. When it comes to being something for kids or being a family icon like Mario, Ghostbusters, and Garfield, keeping it simple is a lot better than just adding a crazy complicated plot for absolutely no reason. Keep that for denis Villanue.
I loved that movie! And I give it a 8/10 because it's a cute, fun, and wholesome movie in my opinion. My only complaint is that the heist is a bit long. But, other than that, it is pretty great!
The Garfield movie is exactly what it should be. A cute fun little movie that has the spirit of the Garfield cartoon. It’s not easy to make a story about a cat that just eats and sleeps all day. But the story they did tell, was entertaining and cool. You can’t go into this movie expecting something huge. It’s a movie based off a cartoon cat who sleeps all day. I really liked it. It has the humor, story based cartoon fun of the show. Chris Pratt was also amazing as Garfield. I don’t get all the hate he gets. He was amazing as Mario and better as Garfield. If you are not a fan of Garfield, don’t watch it as you’ll just be part of those idiots on the internet that crap on the movie to make you feel better about your pathetic life. The animation was incredible too

So when are you going to rank every Pixar movie of the 2020s like I requested or every Sony movie or Disney movie or illumination movie, it’s been a week🧐
It's-a me, Garfield.
I’m gonna see it on Tuesday
@Nfinity__ my parents had to run errands
@Nfinity__ It would be ironic if I watched it on a monday
I actually thought it was a fun movie, maybe not as good as Cats don't dance or The Emperor's new groove, but definetly better than Chicken Little and the Garfield live action movies. Not the best but still fun, but I still think that this movie belongs to pre Spiderverse Sony Animation
I feel the movie was good
THAT MOVIE IS NOT BAD UR GOING CRAZY
exactly
8:27 she reminded me of the cop from Madagascar
This is the earliest I’ve ever been a chilly chivvy video
5:07 what can I say lazy-ass universal
Question when was fights in movies theaters exist? I only know about school fights and that it
Garfield is fine, and I enjoyed it.
This Garfield movie is very fun
I know one rule of cinema. If it is animated/family feature, never trust the critics. When it comes to being something for kids or being a family icon like Mario, Ghostbusters, and Garfield, keeping it simple is a lot better than just adding a crazy complicated plot for absolutely no reason. Keep that for denis Villanue.
If they gonna make movie Laufield, I think it’s gonna great. Laufield are Garfield’s daughter
it’s great! I got a bit emotional at some parts, and I laughed a lot! Had a great time!
ain’t no way every movie critic is hating on a Garfield movie
I loved that movie! And I give it a 8/10 because it's a cute, fun, and wholesome movie in my opinion. My only complaint is that the heist is a bit long. But, other than that, it is pretty great!
What did the critics expect, spider verse levels of greatness?
Personally I liked it
1:20 I literally haven’t seen a single one of these before… were they in magazines? Bus stops?
Just like the Sonic movie they got the main character’s personality wrong.
