A family friend had this exact bike. He was wise enough to never let me ride it.
God bless the 2 stroke! Reminds me of my little Suzuki GT185 twin the way it started, just breath on that starter button and she's runnin😄
Holy 2 stroke Tuesday on Thursday!!!
I knew a guy in the 80's that had an RD250 and it was faster than my Honda XL125. I've never been disappointed in any of the RD models performances.
I had 2 of those back in the summer of 85, had one for parts and one ran, no doubt if it is a fast little bike.
These smaller 2-stroke twins are a sweet spot. This one specifically has some snap and is tuned correctly.
You look like a damn Viking with those wrist wrap things and all jacked👍🏻
🐝🏁 Ken my buddy had two 350 and a 400, He let me ride them all time so fun to ride fast bikes✌️
I rode a Yammie 100 cc Twin back in the 1970s and it was impressive.
Bike was made the year I was born.Almost 51 years old, while looking brand new, and running like its brand new. The bubble gum blue paintjob with the graphics looks amazing. I love that it has an electric starter and kickstarter. I thought they only came with a kick starter. This bike has very rare and unheard of low mileage. I had no clue that Yamaha made RD 125's and RD 200's. Enjoy your day at work. Be safe. ML&R.
That's a beautiful bike.
I had a Rd200 in the early 80s. Ran the wheels off it. Including 500 mile round trip rides to Ohio. I was 145 lbs then LOL
Those are virtually identical to the Yamaha RX 100 and 115 my dad had , RIP. Those bikes are BEAST with porting, tuning, and upgraded exhaust. My dads RX could do 100mph, did 85mph up hills, did 0 to 60mph in just over 4 seconds, and best part was there is so much power the bike power wheelies as you change gears from 1st to 2nd, and even to 3rd gear. You could backflip it just by revving it in 1st gear. You can get 135ccm 175cc, and 200cc block kits for the RX too, which can do 11 sec quarter mile at 115mph.
Here's to John Cermack who won many of the races that he entered on 200 twin in AFM racing
Definitely won’t see one like it as nice as this one! Looks and sounds like new!
I had a purple one. It had a burnt up clutch. I traded it to my uncle for a keg of beer in 1999.
That’s so cool was my first motorcycle back in 75 I think I paid about 200 dollars for it guy bought it for his kid and was afraid of it because it was so fast
Such a good looking bike!
Tkx Ken ! Nene knew they made a 200!’
Great little around town bike
The RD250 is fairly rare, I see way more of these little 200s! Most people went ahead and bought the 350 instead of 250, so they are like hen's teeth. As a matter of fact, when I had my CS5 200, my dad got a RD250 but within a week traded it for a RD350 instead. Which is not surprising. If you find an RD250, you should also buy a lottery ticket. You won't find them.
priceless....i once beat a 750Four with one of these RD 200's ---(yes lot's of corners)
I had a '72 but it was not called the RD200, it was a CS5. I think the '73 was called that too. I think they changed the name to RD200 in '74 to capitalize on the popularity of the RD350 and to a lesser degree, the RD250. The '72 like I had a different stripe pattern, mine was purple and white. It oiled-fouled the sparks plugs all the time. And you could not seem to revive them once oiled. Had to buy new ones. Nickel and dimed us to death.
