    Just to add, this project was completed over 2 days.. Whichever stain blocking primer you choose, it’s important to let the primer fully cure (as per the data sheet) and ‘lock in’ the tannins before going on to top coat.. hope it helps and inspires anyone thinking of starting to spray.. as always, it’s great to get your feedback and questions.. all the best.. Pete

    Hi Pete, very nice finish, as always and thank you for highlighting the Deltec Unitack paper, I’d not seen it before.
    Hope you’re keeping well. With best wishes, Rob

      Hey Rob, appreciate your feedback 💯 ..I’m good thank you, hope you’re keeping well too my friend and having success.. Yeah Deltec Unitack is really useful to have in your kit, I use the 6” on handrails.. it’s a better quality protective finish Vs regular papers and can be reused (if not covered in spray 😊).. always a pleasure Rob, all the best.. Hi Pete, just bought a Graco 395 and hopper kit from Sprayman (great advice and service). New to spraying, learning a lot from your TH-cam content. Thank you for showcasing your techniques. Paul M

    Great video pete and what an enjoyable way to paint awkward radiator covers,ive done them with brush and roller and its really time consuming and just not enjoyable spending half the time trying to paint them with a dry brush to minimise runs but get enough paint on to cover them nicely etc

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Edmond, you’ve hit the nail on the head my friend 👌 ..I admire the finish that can be achieved with the brush / roller, using good technique.. but yeah, spraying this way is a real timesaver and very satisfying 💯 ..Thanks for your input, hope you’re keeping well.. regards Pete

    Hi buddy you got that fan dialled right in for that rad cover I think that set up is going to be for me another great video buddy my Clarke air mover will be making a debut this week to 😂💯💪🏻

      Ah very nice, remember I’m there for you brother if you need any help and advise.. One tip with the Clarke, the white draw cord that secures the ducting on the vent.. also tie it off round the handle 👍 ..The power of the air pulling through can blow the ducting off 💨💨💨🙈

    Great to see the gentilin and remote pressure pot dialled in , struggled with mine recently, I used the 1.8 needle an was about 10psi higher than you've ran on that video, was messy , chucked it on like an airless, was only primer so I managed to sand out, I made the move from fuji5 turbine to gentilin probably why I opted for the larger needle as that was the norm, sprayed plenty with pps cup guns with gentilin with great results, I just need diall it in more and play about with it I guess, a video on setting fluid and air pressure on the remote pot would be a great help if you ever get the time , great work and thanks for uploading 👍

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi James, awesome feedback, thank you.. I know what you mean about the 1.8 needle set, I too experienced the same, so pretty much stick to the 1.5.. I automatically tried a 1.8 using a thicker (decorative) coating, but quickly switched back to the 1.5.. the AkzoNobel low viscosity coatings that I like to spray, naturally go through a 1.5 a treat, then the thicker W198 primer used in this video, still sprays lovely with a 1.5 too, with a bit more air and more fluid pressure to get the product moving.. this video gives a text book explanation, setting the fluid pressure..
      th-cam.com/video/ceaoXCDqPYQ/w-d-xo.html
      But what I find, you can eye up the fluid by spraying (increasing pot pressure) back into the can (no air at this point), and look for a 6” arc on the paint coming out.. it’s enough I find.. If I recall you see me doing this in this video..
      th-cam.com/video/lkGZCVcP6l0/w-d-xo.html
      When adding air (start at around 10psi), start with the fan dial narrow and fluid on the gun wound right in (no trigger pull).. then open the fluid on the gun half a turn.. then start to adjust fan width and more air / (+/-) fluid as you go, just small 1/8 - 1/4 turn increments.. Hope this makes sense a little 😆 ..I’ll make a video on all this.. thanks for your input, keep in touch my friend.. regards Pete

      @@PaintHQ Wow thanks for that , man I'm buzzing now to see that remote pot dialled in , can't wait to try it again on next project, I bought the gentilin with the idea of going AAA , I've the g40 now and a tritech t5 , I have it 10 months and never had guts to try it out yet 😀 😆

      You’re very welcome, anytime.. your thought process is spot on, the exact reason I brought a Gentilin.. you’ve got all the ingredients there to spray any way that you want, or whichever method suits the job.. I’m in the process of learning AAA myself, using the Durr gun.. I’m loving it and enjoying the journey.. well done on your purchases, awesome setup.. like I say, it’s time to put your sprayers fo work 😆 ..I’m happy to help you all I can 👌👍 ..Regards Pete

    • @PaintHQ

      Hey buddy, I’m happy to help if I can.. this is by no means an advert for the setup I’m using, but I do find Gentilin air spray setups more cost effective and versatile Vs Turbine equivalents.. the regular Gentilin (not as quiet but not a huge difference), is cheaper still.. another option is the very popular Wagner XVLP 3500, but for me it does have limitations Vs a full blown HVLP setup (for example I like the flexibility at the gun using a remote pot).. XVLP (extra air) is good, but does take a little ‘tweaking’ to coax the spraying of any thicker decorative coatings.. but that’s the challenge of any HVLP.. can I suggest speaking to the very helpful staff at SpraymanUK, contact details in the description.. you’ll get expert technical advise with no pressure to purchase 👍 ..and I’m more than happy to help some more if I can in any way.. keep in touch and let me know how you get on.. take the leap into spraying, you won’t look back 😆 ..regards Pete

    Hi mate great video, did you buy your remote pot and gun from sprayman, the paint use was using looks how does it compare with caparol or tikkurila

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adrian, thanks for watching and your kind feedback, very much appreciated.. Yeah it’s this one (2L Cup with an air / fluid hose set
      www.sprayman.co.uk/product/sprayman-set-spuk034
      The pot is available on its own, or even part of a complete package.. compressor / pressure feed gun / remote pot and hoses 👍
      That’s a very good question, how I rate AkzoNobel Vs Tikkurila and Caparol.. firstly Tikkurila, Caparol (and Teknos) produce some very high performing products, that have raised the game for the P&D market in recent years.. I especially like the adhesion primers, all closely matched in performance.. I kind of class AkzoNobel a little differently, the products I’ve been showcasing are spray only / low viscosity, what I call manufacturer coatings.. and yet they’re waterborne.. they spray so nice with HVLP and airless (.008 tips / 800 psi / 900 psi).. and the finish is absolutely beautiful 👌 ..I’ll make a note to do a video in future, a comparison video will be good 😆 ..In the meantime, I’d recommend giving the AkzoNobel products a go.. the links are in the description.. then the regular high build primer I use is this one
      WP136 Water Based Primer / Edge Sealer
      holmanpaints.co.uk/interior-wood/171-akzo-nobel-WP136-highbuild-waterbased-primer-edge-sealer.html
      If this helps at all in future, Holmans have a 5% discount code, across all their range, including emulsions etc (AkzoNobel / Tikkurila / Teknos / etc).. use code PAINTHQ
      Great having your interaction on the channel my friend, keep in touch.. all the very best.. regards Pete

    Hi Pete, what would be the pros and cons of using a graco handheld airless sprayer instead on a project this small ? Still learning about the different types of sprayers and techniques that’s all. Thanks

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kevin.. great question.. when spraying an intricate project such as this with the multiple edges that need to be hit with paint ..whilst airless (including the handheld), is possible, you do get more control to narrow the fan and reduce the fluid flow when using a HVLP setup.. you would use more paint spraying airless, even though the handheld is great for spraying small quantities and small projects.. so yeah, the handheld is designed for small projects / touch up jobs, it would suit spraying a radiator cover like in this video ..but I’d move quick with the gun (passes) and don’t be tempted to overly hit an area if it’s not covering, otherwise you’ll get too much build up.. hope this helps my friend.. regards Pete
