I use my Chefmaker daily and it has never once set off my smoke alarms, three of which are practically in the kitchen because of the way the connecting rooms are situated. Dreo also added a new module to the Chefmaker app that lets you create your own cooking programs.
Thanks for doing this comparison of these two brands pointing out what each will do and not do. I trying to figure out if I need one of these or even want one. I cook all my proteins on a Green Egg year around even if it is snowing because I just like the flavor over anything I done in my oven. I use microwave to heat up and fast cook so food. To me the limiting factor is the volume of food most air fryers cook at one time and the time is not that much different than oven or live fire.
Thanks for watching, Keith. Good points there - I think air fryers work best for cooking (less oil and other health-related mumbo jumbo), but is on par to microwaves for heating up leftovers.
@TheNonTechieTechShow Great video! Thanks for this... I've been looking at both these air fryers, so good timing for me. One question though... The Dome's basket is ceramic coated but I can't seem to find out what's the cooking surface of the Dreo? I'll get whichever is non toxic and Teflon free...which looks like Typhur Dome so far. Do you know about the Dreo cooking basket?
Thanks for your question (and for watching)! The Dreo looks to be ceramic-coated as well, but you're right -- it's not information readily available. Hope that helps some.
I appreciate this review. It is interesting that neither of these will do medium rare. I have seen video's about the dreo chefmaker and just recently came across the typhur dome so glad to see this comparison.
I think both machines just need to tweak the algorithms to get proper doneness. Not sure if you noticed in some of the B-roll shots - I used a Meater meat probe to compare how both brands fared, and each time, the Meater app would tell me to get the meats away from the heat, while the fryers just kept cooking for a couple of minutes more.
I think his steak was a little on the skinny side. The manual for the Dreo recommends the meat be at least 1" thick to use the chef function with the probe. You can also set the internal temperature of the meat using the probe function. I think it would have turned out perfectly had he done it that way.
I got the Chefmaker on Kickstater for less than £200 so its an no brainer for me. Also, for steaks you should use the elavated rack. Tho user friendly cooking space on the Typhur is far better, if I want a chicken I'll use my smoker.
@@TheNonTechieTechShow yeah $199 for the early bird deal so only £159 and because there was a delay to the UK due to safety regs/testing they paid the 20% import tax! Now how good is that for a kickstarter company? Couldn’t be happier with mine, but yeah I do wish it was wider, despite it fitting great on the worktop as it is.
I wanted to Love the Dome because of the Self cleaning. However, it would not allow me to pair and 4 people have tried. If it won't pair wondering what else is wrong with it. Trying now to get get a refund, hoping it will be easy to do. Wish they would have just made a cleaning button, where I didn't need my phone. I can see the advantage to pair it, but it should not be the only source to work this Self-cleaning on the Air-Fryer.
Dreo is definitely probe position sensitive. Not great for thin cuts ir thick cuts, but great for 1.5 inches or so. Definitely try some of the longer cooks as well, such as short ribs, to get a sense of how good it can be. Kinda surprised about the smoke issues you were facing. Our smoke alarm goess off if you look at it wrong but the dreo hasn't seemed to trigger it.
Interestingly, I frequently cook with a Meater probe with the same batch and even when I ignore the Dreo and follow the Meater's guide, steaks tend to be slightly past medium rare as well.

I prefer my dreo, but OMG what are those square pixel things on your Wall called?
@@OG-Rarities.UnseenUnreleased Twinkly Squares amzn.to/4gxSacA - they're a little pricey.

The Dreo Chef Maker is amazing PERIOD!
Preach it!
Finally a fair and honest review on this product.
Thanks for your support 🤘
TH-cam is become the swamp. Most are just a sponsored mouthpiece.
I make Chinese roast pork with Air fryer, 205C /20mins, then 165 c/20mins. I 'd go for the Dome .
Funny you say that - they actually have a char siu recipe in the app that you can send to the Dome.
Excellent comparison review.🔥⭐️🔥
Thank you for watching 🤙
I’m totally in love with my Dreo! I’m a full time RVer and cook a lot outside. Also a carnivore.
I'd go Typhur for the money.. No question.
That's my go-to pick as well 👍

Thanks for watching! Yeah, the Dreo is pretty dope. (But I STILL don't know which I'd keep, lol)

I’d like to find a rotisserie air fryer but I’m having a hard time finding one.
There are machines like the Bella Pro Series 6 to start...

great points for consideration. well presented! thanks!
Thanks for watching and happy you found the video useful :)
I think the probe is inserted at the wrong position
How so? The single sensor in the probe shaft is within 1/4 inch from the tip.
Sounded like a water buffalo eating
A.k.a ASMR eating 😂
That’s why you don’t get medium rare
