We just took an exclusive tour of Bruce Canepa's showroom, garage, and restoration shop. Bruce gives us a tour of his amazing car collection that ranges from sprint cars to some of the best Porsche race cars in existence. Enjoy Porsche 959's, Porsche 917's, McLaren P1, BMW M1, and so much more.

Great video. Guys like Bruce and Bruce Meyer, Jay Leno and Beau Brockmann are what we should aspire to. Collecting cars not because they can resell them for more but preserving history. My garage is 500 times smaller, with far fewer and less valuable cars. But this is what i'd dream of it being like some day.
Bruce put together a shop and auto collection that is one of the best in the world. His restorations are immaculate.!!! I met him back in 1985 when he had a shop in Santa Cruz modifying Chevrolet Blazers with superchargers. Now he has this huge building in Scotts Valley where SeagateTechnologies used to be. I worked at Seagate during the 1980s.
+1 ... I could view this inventory outline 10 more times ..... Thrown up on the BIG screen in our pool table room while a couple of fellow 911/993 owners enjoy shooting pool for the evening .... The Canepa shop tour footage never gets old. . Gotta admire what has been accomplished with the 959 Coupe development by Bruce Canepa. . A visionary if there ever was ......Three cheers to "Making It Happen"..

It is extremely rare to listen to a man with such passion, dedication, knowledge about cars. What is also mesmerizing it's how you managed to acquire from across the pond those rarest & beautiful models that even in my dear europe I've never heard of. You sir has put a whole new meaning to "restoration of cars". Or perhaps this is how restoration of a masterpiece of a machinery should always have been from the begining. And what an astonishing collection! Dear me.

I don't know why, but I really like the way Bruce says, "Lamborghini."
Living in Los Gatos (30,000 population) for decades, I considered the town to be Cool-Car Heaven. At one time we had 3 supercar/classic car dealerships. I saw plenty of great cars there, including the first model Veyron. When I moved into the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains, Scotts Valley was closer than my town, so I'd shop there, often passing by Canepa Design thinking it was an engineering firm. Being a mechanical engineer, my curiosity got the best of me, and I went in to ask the receptionist what they did there, she said "Go see!', pointing to the door. I went in. *WOW!*
A trip to Canepa's is always a delight for the eyes.

Let my try and describe my home the way Bruce describes his home. "Over here, we have a Side-By-Side Frigidaire, with the rare ice-maker option. Goes from 45 degrees the below freezing in a half-hour. Oh, and look over there, under the kitchen table, the dog has left us a gift." Bruce describes, with such ease, confidence, and aplomb, stats that make listening about his home furnishings WAY more interesting! Great job, Bruce!

About 20 years ago I was able to get a sneak peak at a few 959s in his shop that were either ready to go and mid-update. Life changing moment, but no idea what happened to the film.

Growing up near catelpa st in santa cruz walking past his garage from and to school was always exciting seeing cars you only would see in magazines, probably why I have this bug.
One of my favorites Porsche is the 911SC.Lots of fun to drive.A big VW fan in the nostalgic world of the VW Type 1 air cooled now and then.
Seeing an FJ40 in his garage makes me happy
I’ve always seen the ads, in the rear pages of Automobile magazine, for this guys vehicles, but never understood his deep expertise and involvement in the serious side of high performance vehicles and competitive motor sports

A great tour. Thanks to The Peterson and to Bruce Canepa for the look. Quite a few cars added to the museum since my last visit and I appreciate the still shots that had different views of the cars in racing or with the body work off. Rather an abrupt ending though; an outro would be nice. A plug for the modest Bruce Canepa; he does a lot for our small NorCal community tucked off the highway between Silicon Valley and the beach towns to the south. We hope for a return to open shop tours and more shows (000 Magazine’s first ‘Rare Shades’ was held in the Canepa Designs parking lot) very soon.

You said Monte Shelton? He was a legend here in Portland. You could always count on him to enter a turbo Porsche of some kind in the Camel GT or Rose Cups. I grew up with his granddaughter.
I wish we could get a real historic racing venue here in Portland. I haven’t seen a 935 or GTP/GTO/GTU anything since I was a kid in the 80s-early 90s and I’m absolutely obsessed with those cars today.
In Germany the Fiat 50 and 600 are still raced in Hill Climbs,really exciting to watch with 2020 style mods .
That was most enjoyable! I got to sit in the Interserie 917 when it belonged to Dick Barbour.
My brother and I were at Riverside that year and another. We couldn't believe how fast they went in those giant cars. It's where the famous Petty saying, " I lost it in turn nine" was originated. My brother and I said that for years.

Ive worked on that RCA number 9 Indy car. Its a very interesting era. We had to find a 12 year old kid to fit in the seat to push it around. Tiny cockpit.
I have been to Riverside raceway.I met Al Holbert.Also,I enjoyed more GT racing and GTO in Laguna Seca.

Funny the clarification the Red RSR mentioned it “won its class at Le Mons” but didn’t for the new Ford GT, my pet peeve I suppose. It wasn’t the same as ‘66-69’ though.
LeMans. Le Mons is a small town in Belgium close the French border, in the province of Hainaut.

I Have Lived In Santa Cruz County For Decades And I Am Very Familair With Bruce, The Collection Is Very Impressive Car History. That Bring Said He Is Not Very Liked In The Community Because Of His Business Tactics, I Really Hope That This Will Change Some Day. His Family Are Simply Put Salt Of The Salt.

The Indy roadsters, such as the D-A Lubricant car shown here, were not "130-140 mph cars down the straightaway at Indianapolis." They lapped at 130-150+ mph with straightaway speeds of 170 to 180+ mph. Regardless, I appreciate your respect for USAC era sprint and Indy cars! And you're right about Don Branson, no one was better on the dirt. Tragically, he was killed at Ascot Park in Nov of '66, just prior to his planned retirement, at age 46.
