Well, one that actually works so I could drive it. All those rubber bits and gaskets that have surely perished by now. Many would need complete rebuilds. So keep it simpler, a 911 perhaps, where parts are actually available.
I visited the Porsche museum in Zuffenhausen last month... these cars... they are something special, each one of them... and being able to see them side by side, it is a great way to spend a day for a car enthusiast :)
I also was lucky to visit the museum 2 years ago with my dad. Together on a roadtrip with his '85 911 3.2 Targa, I will cherish that memory forever gazing together at all the unique models on display in that great piece of architectural masterpiece of a building! Must go for every Porsche fan ❤
I want to like it, but for Top Gear, poorly done. No 924/944/968. The 914, cayenne and Carerra GT history was not correct. Carrera GT was a Formula 1 project and Porsche backed out to get the $ to make the cayenne. No 917, no 550 spider etc…
Agreed. Video was good because of the Porsches. Script and presentation was disappointing. How many times was something described as “very pretty” and commentary made no sense. “I’m sure it was very fun. Even back then” yeah ofc a Porsche was fun back then. The cars are the culmination of art and science and the history of such rare pieces are not given the respect of presentation deserved tbh

As I stated on a previous comment, I owned a Carrera GT back in 2004/5 and I never had any issue driving it, let alone stalling it... I found it easy to drive even under normal circumstances ie in traffic... Those who did stall it obviously had no idea how to drive properly...

the boxster is arguably THE most important car of the modern era and saved the company.. they must have one of the early cars there! should at least have shown it. I hate the snobbery shown towards that car by so-called experts.
I used to Love the 928 and the 944 more than the 911 body style. I couldn't see the attraction to the 911, but my opinion has changed recently when it comes to the newer versions of the 911 Porsche!
Porsche is in my opinion the only German car brand that seems to be consistent in the design language. They seem to do it in sequential steps to ever improve their looks, unlike BMW.
Do you have any data on the number of electric Porsches that have spontaneously combusted? Top Gear could find you several videos in their archives of ICE cars catching fire. Remember the Alpine?
Thanks for the brief mention of the 912, but I thought it was rather negative. The 912 played q pivotal role in helping the 911 take hold with the market. The market did not like the price of the 911 and the 912 was a successful effort to give the market what they liked in the look of the 911 at a lower price point using the 356 SC engine.
Jasus lad, you've got some waffle..😂😂😂 356, 'nice little gearbox' looking at the gear lever.. 'floor mounted pedals' in the 911..😂😂 where else would they be, up on the dash? Your delight seems to have got the better of you😊❤😂😂 lovely cars though..❤
GT1 was to supercars what Group B was to rallycars. They were pretty much road legal Group C cars. The first true hypercars. Big names were Ferrari F 40, Jaguar XJ 220, McLaren F1, and in this case Porsche 911 GT1.
So cool. I visited the museum last september and saw many of these. I'm guessing this warehouse is just opposite of the museum, so they dont have to transport them a lot + they have the Museum tag on the license plate.
Slight miss - the 959 was for the stillborn Group B Racing Series, not WRC. As was Ferrari 288 GTO for example. Hence completely different beasts to the glassfibre/kevlar monsters 205T16, Delta S4, RS200 etc.
Anyone who drove turbocharged cars in the late 70s or early 80s know that lag measured in multiple seconds is a bit of a myth - it was a question of driving differently. Nice video though, the museum is excellent.

somewhat a fun watch, perhaps talk about the designers, sculptors, and engineers. which i could do for you, as you're just blathering on a museum tour.
I don’t think you would daily a 930 especially not in England. Terrible traffic everywhere except rural places. The car has reached the age and it’s value where it wouldn’t be a wise thing to wearing it down.
Which Porsche road car would you choose from this collection?
It has to be the 911 GT1.. or even the Carrera GT.. decisions decisions lol
If I had to choose between a Carerra GT or one of those Lamborghini one of one, or a Ferrari or Koenigsegg or Bugatti, I'd still take the Carrera GT.

All the great transaxle cars in the thumbnail and they barely get a passing mention. Meanwhile the SUV's get more screen time. Really?
Just a phenomenal place to visit. I would probably spend an hour just ogling the 959. It was on my wall as a teenager and I still find it mesmerizing.
