Remember the old commercial, Where's the beef? Now we know,Christine has the beef! You won't have to buy beef for 10 years! Lol thanks for another great video!
This confirms my long held suspicion - there are two parts to groceries that are essentially two different hobbies. Part 1 - buying groceries. Part 2 - cooking groceries. Quilting is similar - buying fabric / sewing fabric. 🙂 Love your content. ❤
Agreed!! I really enjoy going through the sale ads on Sunday mornings to see what I can save money and stock up on, whether I need it or not of course 😂😂😂😂 my daughter once told me she thinks that I have a problem. She may not think so now that she’s buying groceries on her own!
Old appliances were made so much better than the new ones! But may want to invest in one of those wifi freezer alarms. Hate to loose all that meat! Love your channel! ❤
I have a tip to help with freezer organization. I actually just did this. After you have your containers sorted, take a sheet of magnet and draw a diagram of the layout with a dry erase marker. List the items you have in each container and stick the magnet on the front of the freezer. That way you can add or subtract items as needed from the list. Works especially well on chest freezers so you know at a glance where the item is that you are looking for
I just did something similar this week on the refrigerator, but using magnetic chalk boards which are very flexible… And liquid chalk markers. It was a 3-set of chalkboards: one for daily menus, and 2 smaller ones like a checklist so you can use however you’d like (I list leftovers on one so that we don’t forget about them… And foods that perish quickly so that we eat them before they go bad). They would also work great for your shopping list, too.
I also like to precook about 10 pounds of ground beef and then refreeze in 1-1.5 pound packages. Makes for super simple tacos, sloppy joes, meat sauce, etc. And I only get the stove grease splattered one time. Oh, and while I’m at it, I’ll make a big batch of chili, too.
The day after Milton blew thru FL [NE was spared]. I emptied, organized & inventoried my 15 cu ft chest freezer. Over 90 proteins !! Including 2.5 gal milk (.5 Egg Nog from 2020), plus cheeses, bagged fruits n vegs. It'll take me a year plus to cook thru all of that. I'm gonna start telling my kids... your inheritance is in the freezer, Split it equally!😊
I've been trying to clear out my freezer. Every day I just reach in blindly and pull out a package of meat. I thaw it over night and figure out a meal plan based on whatever meat I have. So far I've almost cleared out one full shelf and tried lots of new recipes (some keepers, some not so much).
I got you beat. Husband’s aunt gave us a 10 year old freezer a year after we got married. We were married 50 years in September. This 59 year old Amana freezer is still working in our basement. I have a few things in it but am fazing it out as this summer we bought a freezer for the garage. The new one is a frost free. Yea!!!
You had me at "stand up freezer from Montgomery Ward". I have a 1989 freezer from Montgomery Ward that still works PERFECTLY. I love it so much! To be honest, it is in my shop that has been flooded twice (the first time in the early 1990's and the second time almost 2 months ago with Hurricane Helene) and it still keeps working. And funny as it is, we have one door shelf without the rack to hold things in. Too funny! And, to add to Montogomery Ward-I got a catalog from them about 4 months ago. I had to look for the date thinking the mail had it in the nowhere bin for the past 30 years but, NO, it is new. What in the world. I had to look it up online and sure enough, it is there! Who knew?
I’m so glad you showed speedy. My little guy used to watch your videos with me as he went to nap. For about two years he named all his stuffed animals speedy.
I used to be the type of person who would toss anything that was AT the expiration or best by date. I would even toss things that were frozen. YOU have given me the confidence NOT to do that!!! We also ALWAYS check the discount bins when shopping. Yesterday my husband spotted Bell & Evans Chicken breast for $1.99/lb!!!! The normal price is $9/lb. That is the only brand we buy and our main source of protein!!! SCORE!!! When I woke up this morning, I was thinking about reorganizing the freezer. You must be a mind reader! 😁 Thank you for all the great videos!!!
I will never understand why ppl toss so much food. Glad you came over to the other side! I learned not to buy jiffy mix til I need it otherwise I'm good to go 😂
Be sure to carefully vacuum the vents(bottom or back) probably lots of dust. I would check that freezer once a day for a long while so if it stops working you can save your meat. Also get a surge protector for each freezer.
12:33 Laughin' my head off at this. I have been doing this all year because my life changed so much I'm going through everything so much more slowly. Roasts look fabulous. I vote for 101 ways to cook both!!
To use up some of that older store bought beef cook it up with some carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peas, and/or spinach (whatever you have) add rice and broth, for the dogs! It’s so, so good for them!!! And would be especially nice for your older dog with no teeth. They would love you forever!!! 🐾 ❤️
Great idea. I do that sometimes for mine. I freeze it in small portions. She is really picky and will only eat the same thing just so many days in a row. Then we have to move on to chicken or turkey. If she's lucky I might cook her some pork.
I think you should show footage of your freezer depletion as you continue to NOT go grocery shopping and discuss how long it might take to use up all the 2021 proteins you found.
A rental I used to live in had a refrigerator with a broken door guard? like that. I wasn't concerned but used a couple short bungee cords that held tight enough to use the shelf. Nothing glass or small but for meat packages like these, I think it would work for you!
Thank you for reminding me I have to defrost all of my freezers. Might as well do it while it's still below freezing so I can put frozen stuff outside. Genius!
This is a great video. I miss your food content Christine! More pantry cooking videos please! They never get old. Also I have been wondering about Speedy. What a cutie. Your dog food sponsor also helps a lot with pet adoption. Viewers...If you have a dog please use them!
I have that chest freezer. We got it free when we moved into this home 4 yrs ago. Like you, we buy a quarter of a cow and I shop sales. I've gone through that chest freezer so many times in the four years we've had it. I just cleaned out the freezers and found a whole ham in the chest freezer and turkey pot pie (whole pie), the mix, and a turkey leg from last year. We will have ham and pot pie for Thanksgiving this year. No buying meat. I will buy potatoes, 1 cool whip (I found 1 in the chest) and I think that's it. Gotta love the chest freezers!
Not only do I watch you for simple entertainment, but I also enjoy it when you do your multi-meal preparations! I would enjoy a hamburger series with the 😊abundance of burgers in your freezer. One suggestion, though, I give up after about 20 meals worth of watching, and I’m always curious about where to find your recipes. So here’s my request: would you be willing to do fewer meals in a cleanup-the-freezer Vlog, and then include the notes on how to get to the recipes you use? Have you ever considered making your own jerky? Those older cuts of beef, sliced thin and marinated then dried would save you all kinds of money in packaged jerky.
I give my dogs chicken breast that I cook in the IP and then ground it up in a food processor so it almost looks like coconut flakes- make that with veggies streamed some blueberries- they love it!
But have you thought about higher energy bills for an old freezer? Got rid of mine just 7 years ago and electrical bill went down almost $40.00 monthly. Also used wire bins instead of solid plastic to allow even flow through the shelves.
I love hitting all the sales, then I get home and trying t find room in one out of my 3 freezers, I re organize them every month, then my son comes in and destroys them especially deer season, gorl u make it look easy
For my chest freezer, I use reusable grocery bags for each category: meat, vegetables, etc. I stack the bags on top of each other and I’m able to reach the bottom bag easily. As a shorty, this saves me from standing on my head!
I confess that I gave up on keeping a chest freezer organized! I'm just not that disciplined. I know my upright doesn't hold as much, but at least I use what I have instead of losing it to the depths of the behemoth! I did invest in some bins that were the right size to max the shelves. Still, the joy of opening that door and seeing labeled bins when I want to grab something for dinner - and of easily seeing what I have before I shop bargains - is so awesome.
Thank you for having meat that's considered "old" because my mom always comments about what I pull out of the freezer to cook, but it always tastes delicious. I can't handle wasting it when it's perfectly fine.
We're moving soon so have been eating down our freezer foods. I know I'm going to have a melt down when I have to replenish it all again 😮 everything is so much more expensive now! I will be buying a chest freezer too once we've moved in!
I had a freezer like that. Absolutely loved. It still worked, but the door rested off I found another one on marketplace the same age right after I had my baby who is now 7 the seal finally went. They're great freezers. You just can't get parts for them anymore.
Isn’t it great! I just got another freezer and organized. We have a chicken and fish freezer. A beef freezer and a pork freezer! Love the organization! I always say “same, same.” Me speak for put the same stuff together 😂
OMG!! Monkey Wards…I loved that store..they really had neat stuff..super cheap. My beast in the basement is 50 years old, and I fear falling into the chest freezer luckily I’m 6 foot, so I can reach the bottom of the freezer, no fall in. Gold mine on the beef!!!❤
am a new viewer - its been a long time since I laughed so hard over beef 🤣😂 am a farmer’s granddaughter who spent parts of my summer holidays in the sixties on the farm - am reminded of the first time my grandfather asked me to go with him to get “the beef” - as a little city kid I thought we were going to get the missing cow - turns out it was a trip to the abattoir’s not the vet’s 😂🤣 I vote for videos with ground beef recipes - can’t wait to watch more of your videos 🇨🇦🙏
Freezer meals are your friend! I did a similar project and cooked up a lot of my freezer meat, made them into meals, portioned them into flat freezer bags and saved so much space and time cooking and doing dishes afterwards!
Your video is so timely. We have 2 upright freezers and 2 refrigerator freezers that are full with no organization. I’m almost afraid to start organizing. 😂. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤
I have a big stand up freezer. I put sweets on the top shelf, red meat on the second, chicken on the third and the 4th shelf down is pizzas and other processed junk that my son likes. The bottom drawer has our turkey and cut up sandwich meat. 👍🏻
7:54 *cue Mimi screaming in Naijamerican* 😱😂😱😂 I beg of you, Christine. It’s past time to create a video showing how to utilize 36 lbs of ground beef. We’re anxiously awaiting the results. 😂
The bottom compartment would be good for meal preps, like the ziplock dump and go crock pot meals, you could lay them flat to freezer and the gate would hold everything in place
I got really ambitious after hurricane Milton. I had stuffed everything into the new larger freezer hoping to save most of it - it worked! When I moved things back, I started an inventory sheet on my IPad. Then did the same for the second freezer. Really helped me with meal planning and shopping. Now to see if I can keep up with it. LOL!
So I have a freezer tale of tragedy and redemption. During Hurricane Milton, our power was fluctuating after it was turned on due to a failing part on a power pole. It killed our upright freezer. I am not a fan of chest freezers (see Christine upside down for reference as to why, and the items lost on the bottom and forgotten since 2021). We lost so much food when the freezer failed, because I didn't realize it wasn't working until too late because the digital display was still showing it had power. I estimated we lost $300-500 of food easily. I was able to save a few items that were way in the back and still frozen solid, but if it wasn't frozen solid, I didn't chance it because the temp was 85 degrees in the freezer, so no sense getting sick. I about cried over my frozen pepper strips, and the 5 gallons of mango I had processed for weeks from our tree. For over a week I was going crazy because I prep my meals from my freezer. I meal plan like Christine does, what proteins do I have, then what is in the pantry to go with it, and then what fresh items, sauces, seasoning are needed. Every freezer I priced was way out of my price range. I hit FB marketplace, and initially came up with nothing. That following Saturday morning, I looked again, still nothing. So got dressed ready to head to the stores to see if maybe they had a returned, scratch and dent or something, when something told me, look again. Hopped online to FB marketplace, looked again, and someone had posted a freezer that looked identical to my dead one for $250. I also looked brand new. I quickly reached out, it was available, and I said I'd be over in an hour. An hour and a half later, I'm buying this freezer off a dirt lot (full of other appliances). I asked the man how he had all these. It was his business for 20 years. He'd get buyer trade ins or scratch and dent, did repairs of appliances, etc. I get it home, only to find, it is actually new old stock, never used, and bonus, it is actually larger than my old freezer! So, back to prepping!! I need to find some good meat deals next weekend. But yesterday, lots of frozen goods were on BOGO at the store.
We have 2 deep feeezers and a stand up freezer. 1 is all beef, 1 is all pork which is a smaller deep freezer and pur stand up is chicken, bread, veggies and meals. It is so nice to have it all organized for sure! I do have some of those plastic Wal-Mart containers and they do help. Thanks for the tips and the container idea's!
We use square ice cream buckets with handles and stack them in our freezer. Helps so much with organization! Love you and your channel full of wisdom and ideas!!!
Nice finds!! Chuck roast is the best cut to make shredded beef for tacos and burritos and is very simple to make also. Place your roast in a crockpot and salt and pepper to taste. Place two bay leaves on top. Chop/dice a medium onion and distribute evenly in pot, dump in one can each of diced green chilies and diced tomatoes. Cook on low for 8-10 hours until falling apart and easy to shred.
My favourite "hack" for free storage boxes is reusing cardboard boxes. Especially in situations where they aren't decorative, like in my freezer. I have heavy duty cardboard boxes organizing my chest freezer right now. Since it's a chest freezer, I'm looking down on everything, so the boxes don't need to be clear. Labelling is super easy too, just write on the side with a sharpie. Not pretty, but functional and free!
My mother in law taught me how to package meat for the freezer. I took out stew for meat that was prepped 2 yrs ago..defrosted it yesterday & it was amazing 🤩I love freezing meats🎉
The previous owners of my apartment left me a 35 years old refrigerator with a large freezer. It lasted another 15 years, but I was, unfortunately, at work when it finally bit the dust, and came home to a floor full of ... well, let's call it meat juice. I put everything on the stove or in the oven to cook, asked my neighbors to do a couple of big pots for me, went out to Home Depot, and bought a new fridge, which was delivered just as the various stews had cooled to room temperature. I actually didn't lose anything! But I didn't buy protein for about 2 months.
You're gonna need to do both videos. You know that, right? The elevendybillion ways to use brisket was a great video! We still refer to that one every now and then. We just put a milk crate in our outside freezer - what we live in Alabama, of course we have an outside appliance - it made a huge difference! Thanks for all you do!
Moussaka (with potatoes or with zuchinis or with eggplant.) Search for Balkan recipes. Pleskavica, Čevapčiči. Shepards pie. Australian pastry pie, Cornish pastie, pizza with ground meat, classic bolognese sauce, minced meat with sauerkraut (if you add eggs it can be casserole), burritos, chili con carne, stuffed pasta, quiche, swedish meatballs, meatball sandwich, sloppy joes, stuffed pepper soup, turkish kebobs where you squeze ground meat on the sqewer, mongolian beef, chinese beef and brocoli, beef tomato sauce with polenta, chinese fried rice w beef & veg, chinese fried noodles w beef & veg, and beef sauce with fresh cabbage cut like tagliatelle pasta, meat loaf (find some Americana recipe)... I'll come up with more when you finish these 😂
OMG we have three deep freezers and there are only three of us 😂! Hubby keeps telling me to stop buying beef, because we have so much of it. One of our freezers is meat/fish, another is fruit/veggies/homemade jams and sauces and the other is prepared foods and purchased veggies. Plus the garage fridge is full of butter (36 lbs). I really have to stop…
We have two fridges and two freezers because my son built a house on our acreage. It’s nice because we can put the extras in his house. But we don’t need meat either and I’ve been cooking from the freezer all fall but it feels like I haven’t made a dent in the supply at all.
Trying using a Bungee cord for the door shelf
I thought the same thing ! Haha
I thought about that too. Would be great to hold the small bin you were worried about in the bottom shelf.
& the one trying to come out… DUCK TAPE 😂
Yep
Great idea!
Remember the old commercial, Where's the beef? Now we know,Christine has the beef!
You won't have to buy beef for 10 years! Lol thanks for another great video!
Christine has the beef 😂😂 that got me 🎉😂
Dang girl you got a lot of ground beef. Nice job on the freezer clean out.
I would like to see 101 way’s with ground beef.
With so much meat, I would recommend freezer alarms. My husband is a hunter, so with full freezers we don't want to waste!
😀
This confirms my long held suspicion - there are two parts to groceries that are essentially two different hobbies. Part 1 - buying groceries. Part 2 - cooking groceries. Quilting is similar - buying fabric / sewing fabric. 🙂 Love your content. ❤
Agreed!! I really enjoy going through the sale ads on Sunday mornings to see what I can save money and stock up on, whether I need it or not of course 😂😂😂😂 my daughter once told me she thinks that I have a problem. She may not think so now that she’s buying groceries on her own!
Same with books!

Hahaha so true!
Old appliances were made so much better than the new ones! But may want to invest in one of those wifi freezer alarms. Hate to loose all that meat! Love your channel! ❤
Problem with old appliances is they aren’t energy efficient
I have a tip to help with freezer organization. I actually just did this. After you have your containers sorted, take a sheet of magnet and draw a diagram of the layout with a dry erase marker. List the items you have in each container and stick the magnet on the front of the freezer. That way you can add or subtract items as needed from the list. Works especially well on chest freezers so you know at a glance where the item is that you are looking for
I just did something similar this week on the refrigerator, but using magnetic chalk boards which are very flexible… And liquid chalk markers. I can never get enough ground beef recipes ! Bring them on Christine ! 💕💕💕💕

The funniest thing about these videos is how Christine cracks herself up.
In the midst of all the humor and organizing, there's so much love in the act of providing for family. This is so wholesome.
uh cook out of the freezer challenge video please hehehehe

I way prefer uprights, it’s a breeze to organize & I’m too old to crawl into a chest one 😂
...Going down the only road I've ever known!
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone!
🎸🤘
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time 🎶🎶🎶
Try using a small tension rod on the shelf in the door.
Yes, and superglue it in and the other one that is loose

I would listen to Whitesnake with you any day; twice on Sunday (after church of course). You've still got it, Christine!
I would like all the things! All the roasts, all the ground beef! It's time for a freezer clean out video!!!! Beef edition

Make yourself a bungee or a duct tape strap for the freezer door section without the thingy holding everything in.
I vote ground beef! Though I really only know one way to cook a roast in the crockpot… so either would be a win!
😂😂😂😂😂 Christine thank you for always bringing the humor to these daily tasks!!! Love your channel ❤

I vote on a cooking ground beef video. I feel that it I'd more affordable and more popular
You could use a slim tension rods on the door that is missing, so you can keep items from falling off.
Gotcha beat. Using my mom’s old chest freezer which is 50 + years old. And how did you not use the “Where’s the beef” commercial! Love your channel!

I would actually but the less expensive sandwhich meat and pizzas on the top, with more expensive meats in the lower part that stays colder.
7:54 *cue Mimi screaming in Naijamerican* 😱😂😱😂
I beg of you, Christine.
LOL!
7:40 We live in FL. Power goes out all the time. We could never be able to store that much meat without it being wasted.
We have a gas generator
You don’t have a backup generator?
We got half a cow three and a half years ago and I’m just using up the last of it. Everything has been absolutely perfect.
How long do you keep meat in the freezer before throwing it out?
We use square ice cream buckets with handles and stack them in our freezer. Helps so much with organization! Love you and your channel full of wisdom and ideas!!!
I am always up to listening to Whitesnake and live freezer organization. Great video!!!
Wow. I have no words for you. Just wow!!
Girl I’m always up to listen to some White Snake with ya! 😝
You can still order from Montgomery Ward through their website. Awesome company and it appears the products last forever. 😂 ❤
Agreed on the tri-tip. My absolute favorite cut of beef.
This is the most fun I have ever experienced in a freezer video. *Insert deep Arby's voice here. * Christine.... She has the meats!
😂😂😂
Great video! Where did you get your dividers for your chest freezer?
LOVE that Whitesnake song!!!
We buy bulk beef too. I need roast recipes!!!!
I know you were joking but I would love a ground beef or roast video. We also have a beef problem lol.
We put butter in the door. Once you can find the baskets that work for your freezer, it is so helpful.
Moussaka (with potatoes or with zuchinis or with eggplant.) Search for Balkan recipes. Pleskavica, Čevapčiči. Shepards pie. Australian pastry pie, Cornish pastie, pizza with ground meat, classic bolognese sauce, minced meat with sauerkraut (if you add eggs it can be casserole), burritos, chili con carne, stuffed pasta, quiche, swedish meatballs, meatball sandwich, sloppy joes, stuffed pepper soup, turkish kebobs where you squeze ground meat on the sqewer, mongolian beef, chinese beef and brocoli, beef tomato sauce with polenta, chinese fried rice w beef & veg, chinese fried noodles w beef & veg, and beef sauce with fresh cabbage cut like tagliatelle pasta, meat loaf (find some Americana recipe)... I'll come up with more when you finish these 😂
Yes, to all of it.
Thanks I took a screenshot
OMG we have three deep freezers and there are only three of us 😂! Hubby keeps telling me to stop buying beef, because we have so much of it. One of our freezers is meat/fish, another is fruit/veggies/homemade jams and sauces and the other is prepared foods and purchased veggies. Plus the garage fridge is full of butter (36 lbs). I really have to stop…
This makes me feel better about my full chest freezer 😂
If I had more room in my house, I'd have 2 fridges and 2 large freezers. I have one of each because we're in a tiny house.
We have two fridges and two freezers because my son built a house on our acreage. It’s nice because we can put the extras in his house. But we don’t need meat either and I’ve been cooking from the freezer all fall but it feels like I haven’t made a dent in the supply at all.
@@erindixon2877 I get it!
Rollo lived to 18 his vet called him “the ancient one “ just like speedy … lived with out teeth a long time !
Do not block the air circulation with too large of plastic bins but great idea
I have another freezer being delivered next week and I am looking forward to doing the same thing. I am not sure what that says about my life.
I don't eat a lot of ground beef but I use ground turkey a lot so ground beef recipes would be my vote.
I’m so happy I found your channel. You are not only smart and frugal but beautiful and so entertaining! 😄
LOL - I'm there with ya! I have a love/hate relationship with my freezers.
I LOVE WhiteSnake!❤
Yes Christine, I will listen to Whitesnake with you. I still have the cassettes ❤️🤣
Thank you for being such an awesome role model! You have motivated me a lot and kept me company ❤❤❤❤😊
I use reusable shopping bags for like items in the chest freezer. The dividers are great for categories.
My stand up freezer from Montgomery ward is 30 yrs old.. works great!!
I'm looking forward to recipes! I'm inspired to organize my freezers! Thank you! ❤
I will listen to Whitesnake anytime!
