Thank you so much for the explanations and also pointing out what can easily go wrong in the process. You are such a life-savor, I'm currently on my finals and you literally saved me for the rigging part T T Thank you!!!!!
Brother, thank you so so much, because of your video, after 16 hours of troubleshooting, I got my rig to work, it wouldn't bind correctly and all I had to do was "Bind to JOINT heirarchy" I always left it default, but I have a more complex rig, and it was tough. Thank you for putting this stuff out there, it means a great deal. I can finally sleep XD.
EDIT// For people with the same issue: put it in orthograhic view! I didn't know you can't add bones in perspective view I can't even add bones. I select the model, put her in wireframe, then press that same "add bones" button you do. Then I click where I want it to be like you, and nothing shows up. I swear to god I'm about to drop out of college
hi conor! i’m an animation student in ireland and i’m working on rigging my first model for a 10 second short film for my final project for first year. this was a really helpful tutorial, however i was wondering if you would know how to approach the front legs for a goat model? there’s an extra joint in goats that kind of acts like a knee, but i couldn’t quite figure out how to make it work. thanks!
Look at references. There's no extra joint, all quadrupeds have basically the same skeletal structure just with different proportions. A goat's front leg joints from top to bottom are the shoulder, elbow, wrist, then those finger bones. I think what you're calling a knee is the wrist joint? Compared to a dog or especially a human, a goat's "palm" is very very elongated. A simple skeleton would have told you that, just like what the video guy did.
He is the Bob Ross of Rigging! Thank you! This was SOOO incredibly useful!
I owe you big time. This was SUPER helpful, this is my first successful rig and it’s all due to your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Not only was this a great tutorial, but also Conor O'kane sounds like some bad ass braveheart stuff or a Mortal Kombat character

When moving my heel-wheel, the foot doesn't stay flat like it should. Do you know of any easy mistake that I could've made to cause that?
Thanks, that worked
