I had two weeks of rigging classes when studying 3D and the teacher kept on telling us how it was the most difficult part of 3D and how impossible it was and how much people hated it... blablabla... you just made it a joy and super easy to understand and follow! I am loving this channel!

I mean it is fun until you do it for thousand time for your whole career especially if you are not into animation or rigging route, then that's where fun dies

it depends on a person to be honest im with animation industry for 8 years i've seen TDs hating their job and some who really loving it. Rigging require focus like any other field but not anyway impossible.

FOR ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE WITH KNEES and POLE VECTOR:
Make sure your IK handles are set to "Rotate-Plane Solver":
Attribute Editor> _ikHandle> IK Solver Attributes> IK Solver> Rotate Plane Solver

I got my degree in Computer Animation about 3 years ago. I work as an animator and haven't done any rigging since I graduated and forgot several important small aspects of getting the IK handles linked properly. I found your video after struggling with this for 2 days. It was exactly what i needed to get my simple character working. Thank you.

Hey everyone! I'd be very grateful if someone would share a fix for for this issue I have. When I constrain parent the controller to the IK handle, it works fine until I UNDO to return to the original pose. The rig doesn't go back to the original state, even though the controller does. It actually works as it should randomly, so I'm guessing that the problem is not on my end. I digged around and realised it's a (big) bug in Maya, but none of the solutions (like turning off snapping in IK, parenting with point instead of parent etc.) seem to work for me. Any ideas? Am I the only one with this issue? 🙈
PS: Phoenix, your videos are amazing and you have great toutoring skills, it's really easy to follow and you're exceptionally methodical. Thank you!

I actually got the body from somewhere else , and i binded the skin and everything but the problem is when i move the character half of it moves and half of it stays there and it looks weird and in the channel box it says locked , soo does that mean i have to find another character or this issue can be solved . Thank you very much for your efforts ❤

For connecting the foot to the IK handle:
I followed step by step what you mentioned but it doesn't seem to work for me.
(You also lost me at V center mouse so I just winged it and pressed the V key and the Center Mouce Wheel button.)
Is there something else I could do in order to attach the handle to the Joint?

Thanks for the video, i have a question. After using constrain in all the joints, when i parent the controllers to the Root controller making him the father of all of them the joints don´t stay at the floor when i move the Root controller in negative position from the Y edge for trying to make jump animation, they all go down the floor like falling making them ignore the Ik Handle function you show in this part 5:56. What should i do?, is there any way can i use the Root Controller for move all the stuff without having this problem?.

Is there a way for the Controller for the knee to follow the Knee joint as I move the character, when I try parenting the Controller to the Joint and move the Foot Handle, the knee controller starts rotating in 360 degrees (I'm assuming its because it follows the knee joint and as the joint moves, the controller also follows and creates this perpetual movement). for the project I had to work on I ended up just manually moving the knee controllers but is there a more efficient way to do this?
