This car spoils you and ruins other cars after driving one. I own one and even after driving a 992 GT3, R8, etc.. I always wanna go back into the z06. Much nicer place to be. Chevy is destroying competition by making a supercar for half the price of other competitors while making it reliable, good sounds, and a great daily. Not to mention an oil change is $140 vs $1200-1500 on other supercar brands
theres a famous youtuber who drove it and said yes its fast but the 20 year old Ferrari F430 is a better experience. I tend to agree as Ive seen at least 3 reviews sayign the new c8 understeers due to the differential and has a numb steering. I guess the Z06 or even better the ZR1 are better than the standard c6 tho
I hate the 14 speaker Bose sound system that I never listen to, because I can’t stop listening to the sound of the engine. It’s like crack, but for your ears. Maybe offer a radio delete option for a couple thousand off sticker.
Exactly...I had an early Lamborghini Countach S. A point was that it had an Alpine radio. I never turned the radio on and if you did it was not easy to hear with the engine and why listen to it trying to compete with the engine. I never sat in the car listening to the radio with the engine off...no need for a radio. I once asked Jay Leno what he thought of his 2005 Ford GT with that center speaker next to his right ear...he said he never listens to it. Plus that Ford GT had a Mackintosh radio that was a common option that was $5300. Radios in exotic cards are a joke.
Had my Z06 for about a month now…just over 400 miles. Almost through the initial engine break in. I have the 8 way gt2 seats and the bolsters are adjustable.
I just got my Z06 3 days ago, and already put 300 miles on it haha. The car is just CRAZY! I love it so much. Haven't had a car that sounds this good since my straight-piped gallardo.
I chose the C8 ZO6 🔥 It is a crazy visceral Bi-Polar Beast! You can daily drive it or shred on a track. The most exhilarating driving experience I've ever had. I've never been drawn to a Corvette like this one. The Look, the Feel, the Sound! I get a lot of compliments. The C8 Stingray is a wonderful car but was not enough drama. Egress sucks, the bj wall is odd. I would definitely recommend the GT2 seats (felt a bit tight at 1st but after a week, I never noticed). I saw a comment below that a 2024 eRay owner traded for a 2025 ZO6. That says a lot.
I've owned my 2LZ for a few months and have a couple of qualms: 1) Wall of buttons - kind of dumb idea that we've had consensus on since the C8 was revealed. What's worse about it however, is that for the passenger there's no handle for them to hold onto during spirited driving. 2) Android auto on this car is sometimes really glitchy and at times has connection issues. Don't know if this affects much anyone else, but works fine for me in other cars with my phone? 3) Lots of small pebbles and stones get into side intakes. I'm sure this is a common problem for most mid /rear engine cars, but would have been nice if they provided a removable cover or something. (aftermarket options are available) 4) Tall gearing - not saying this is an actual detriment, but the car is really meant for the track. The car begs you to wind it out into the high rpms (as you should!) But on spirited drives, you're likely only shifting between 2nd and 3rd most of the time. The car is really too much just the road. 5) Frunk gets hot - it's not just the trunk (rear cargo) that gets hot, the front trunk or "frunk" gets very warm as well for food / luggage. Still, easily the best sports car I've owned and IMO the best Corvette GM has produced to date.
I have to agree it’s a very nice car but not a corvette. It’s a modern reliable Ferrari 458 reissue under the GM brand with modern amenities if you want a 458 you go and buy this and don’t have to worry about Ferrari headaches and drive the crap out of this car with a smile. All of the 458 greatness without the flaws . Well done GM now give us a new Chevrolet Chevelle and make sure you steal the Challenger hellcat demon playbook
The C8 is most definitely a Corvette, just the way Zora wanted to make it in 1972. They had to go mid engine as the front engine architecture had been maximized in the C7.
Good video. But in my opinion the second point is only valid in the United States. Why do I say that? Well, where I live a Turbo S costs way less than a Z06 and a Carrera S costs less than a Stingray. Because Porsche is officially imported while the Z06 is only imported independently. Outside the United States the Corvette is a much rarer car and ends up being as expensive as or even more expensive than rival cars. So outside the United States having a fully loaded Z06 is a much bigger flex than having a 488, a Porsche Turbo S or a Huracán.
MY biggest issue is cops. For some reason, every time I get dressed in all black and head to the dealer, police act like it's strange to pick my car up at 1am...and they ask too many questions.
My only fear is working on it in the distant future. I really hope GM decides to release a lt6 crate engine so we can preserve this car till the end of time. I have wrenched on 996 turbos before and had to bend my hands in impossible angles to replace ims bearings. I fear that a c8 z06 might tell a similar story in the future in terms of labor. The good news is that it will cost significantly less in parts when things start to go bad. I really like this car and hopefully GM pumps out as many of these as humanly possible because it really is a Cinderella story.
The Porsche 911 service manual recommends many engine repairs be done with the engine out. Replacing the IMS bearing is one of them. The same will need to be done with the C8.
I believe the GT2 side bolsters are adjustable, I know they are as I sat in one and I couldnt fit due to wide back, I work out. But sat in another GT2 and fit fine, even the GT3 comps. I didnt have keys to move the seat adjustment.
Oh one more comment. Never thought I would see a company accomplish it again ever But this is the NSX of super Cars. From a Ford Man I have to be honest and say congratulations.
Did a long distance run at reasonable speed (70-80 MPH) and got close to 20 mpg. If you are running full throttle all day long, yes, 5.5 mpg is about right!
Best I’ve gotten is 18 but learned to get 13 in city by fully upshifting once up to speed. But yes, fuel economy blows. It’s by far the worst out the 4 z06s I’ve owned. The c6 was actually pretty good and could get over 30 mph if driven right.
So 2 things, you can move your side mirrors out all the way so you can see blind spots, and climate control you can also use the screen as well. So you don’t have to look over at the side console to see controls.
Doesn't it have blind-spot monitoring and I don't know why Chevy did not put 360 view on this car. A $40,000. Hyundai has 360 camera view by placing cameras on the side mirrors also.
The hvac wall should not be a complaint. After driving one i cant see how it is still an issue. I love it . never hear about how you have to sit with your legs to the middle in a lot of supercars
I had a Countach S and a Detomaso Mangusta...you don't get much worse for visibility out back. If I needed to get over, I would pick a car and pass it. For not being a "Corvette" anymore...sounds like it has gotten better. Seats...I thought the GT2 seats were the comfortable ones while the Competition seats were the problem with the lower bolsters that apparently are not adjustable.

I had the same issue. Much different cars and I miss my manual, but there are pros and cons with both. If it's a daily, the dual clutch and remote starts are nice to have. The engagement of my manual c7 z07 was amazing and thrilling but I love the c8 platform and the lt6 sounds amazing.
The DCT is insanely good. You get to learn and anticipate what it will do and you still have control via paddle shift. Rowing the gear is no longer an issue. If you need to scratch that itch, get a little 4 banger beater with a manual, that's what I did!
@@joehollifield1463 The DCT is the reason you will lose a drag race, having to get the launch perfect and not missing gears. The DCT does those jobs perfect, every time!
I worked my Nuts off to buy mine. Zero buyers remorse and like others have said, even after driving a Huracan, 911, etc. there is something unique about the C8 Z06. It reminds me of that Car and Driver article that so eloquently described it as finding it hard to believe that it's even real. GM gave Chevrolet a huge leash on this car and I'm telling you it is easily the most enjoyable car I've driven

I have a 2024 Z06. You had to dig hard to find non-consequentials. Most of your video is praise. All Corvettes are "difficult" to get in and out of. When you can't manage that, it's a sign you are too fat, too out of shape or too old to own one! I find the interior just fine, don't actually pay much attention to it (Mine is a 1LZ). The button wall beats the crap out of the info screens so many cars come with today. Just think Tesla; how many screens do you have to flick through to get to the heater, A/C controls? Talk about a driving distraction. Only complaint I agree with you here is the seat bolsters, they are too narrow, just not made for big guys. I would pay extra for an XL seat option. Here is a complaint you did not address: there is an annoying noise coming from the passengers side. Only happens when my wife is riding along while i'm on the throttle hard! Not identical to a 911, but to answer your question, I have a 2018 Z06 manual, and a 2024 Z06 HTC. That solves the problem. Agree on the door sill! Don’t you have blind spot indicators? Without, forget it. I prefer the comfort of my C7 vs my C8. C8 is more Ferrari’esq than Porsche. I have an F8 spider I don’t drive it much anymore.
The Z06 is only a little faster than a Stingray in a zero to sixty sprint. And it's slower than a Stingray in the top speed test. The flat plane must make you think you're going faster than you are. I own a Stingray and have driven the Z06. Both cars are Corvette's though.
What i hate the most about this car is that it's a GM. I'm 100% a Ford Man. I love The Ford GT more because it's a Ford and heritage. Too expensive for me to get one. But I love hate the new Corvette so so much. I would buy one 😢. Never see a gold bow tie on me ever but I would buy the Car and Vett gear. I own a Shelby GT 500❤
If I didn't have a blind spot in my Fiero GT, you dont have one on this with those, comparatively gigantic side mirrors! You do not need to see the car in your mirrors, you need to see the other lane. Adjust accordingly.
I think he does refer to that when he says; "you have to trust your mirrors". I find that you just need to pay attention and keep a good situational awareness at all times. I guess that is something I developed driving trucks.
What I really hate about the Z06 is the gear ratio. The Huracán is so exciting to drive because the gears are so close together, when you shift gears the rpm always drops into the power band and the sound is amazing, the same goes for the 458. The Z06 is only like that up to third gear, from there it falls flat, it's pathetic
So the American sports car that was always the one used to compare to super cars but never quite made it to that category - finally meets the standards where it's confused for an exotic foreign super car and NOW that's what you hate about it? P.s if you're any type of over weight? The seats in a c8 definitely suck!
For being a Vette it’s down right TOO MUCH! Vettes were never gaudy I can’t stand the sound of that flat plane crank That stupid popping sound, it actually sounds like a 4 banger. They maybe fast however I will take a push rod V8 big cam sound any day
Both the Stingray and the Z06 come with blind spot monitoring but you have to go to the 2LT or 2LZ models respectively. The entry levels won’t have the blind spot monitoring.
I disagree. Look at it very closely. There is a ton of Corvette in a C8 . Look at the rear trunk lid over the motor looks like 60s vet. The panels and fenders are definitely Corvette. And the way the interior wraps around that’s been like that since the C5. Yes the flat playing crank is terrible. In my opinion. I don’t want my hundred and $150,000 card to sound like a motorcycle. I like the sound of flat playing cranks when you have more cylinders like 10 cylinders or 12 or 16 but in my opinion eight cylinders doesn’t sound right with flat plane just like six cylinder doesn’t sound good has a cross plan crank
We've got a 2023 C8 Z51 3LT and have owned Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar (before Tata) and 2 other Corvettes before this one. This car? The only thing that came close but not quite in driving experience? Ferrari. But in terms of tech, versatility, cost of ownership? C8 all the way. And Z Mode?! 😆 omfg just hold on is all I've got to say. Can't imagine what the Z06 version of this thing is...

Yep I love my time to listen to podcast, audiobooks and movies but not much of that happens when I drive my Z😂

If you put it side by side with a c7, you can see the similar design cues. It does look like a C7.

What you pointed to near The door mirror is actually the "A" pillar. The blind spot you referred to is technically the "B" pillar.

I have a 2019 Manual Z06/Z07 with every option and it's an awesome car, but it doesn't sound like the C8/Z06. I'd like to add a C8/Z06 to my stable!

The 2023 Z06 didn't have blind-spot monitoring or the other advanced safety features as the 2034 Z06... definitely worth the annual price increase!

It's got plenty of blind spots, but so did the c7. Atleast you have tge blindspot monitoring and rear view camera.

The 3lZ has them on the 2023 and up. Not sure if the 2lz has it but the 1lz definitely does not. Blind spot monitoring.

The Z06 is only a little faster than a Stingray in a zero to sixty sprint. And it's slower than a Stingray in the top speed test. The flat plane must make you think you're going faster than you are. I own a Stingray and have driven the Z06. Both cars are Corvette's though.

Set up the side view mirrors correctly and you won't have a problem blind spots. I don't have problems.

What i hate the most about this car is that it's a GM. I'm 100% a Ford Man. I love The Ford GT more because it's a Ford and heritage. Too expensive for me to get one. But I love hate the new Corvette so so much. I would buy one 😢. Never see a gold bow tie on me ever but I would buy the Car and Vett gear. I own a Shelby GT 500❤

I think he does refer to that when he says; "you have to trust your mirrors". I find that you just need to pay attention and keep a good situational awareness at all times. I guess that is something I developed driving trucks.

What I really hate about the Z06 is the gear ratio. The Huracán is so exciting to drive because the gears are so close together, when you shift gears the rpm always drops into the power band and the sound is amazing, the same goes for the 458. The Z06 is only like that up to third gear, from there it falls flat, it's pathetic
So the American sports car that was always the one used to compare to super cars but never quite made it to that category - finally meets the standards where it's confused for an exotic foreign super car and NOW that's what you hate about it?
P.s if you're any type of over weight? The seats in a c8 definitely suck!

Both the Stingray and the Z06 come with blind spot monitoring but you have to go to the 2LT or 2LZ models respectively. The entry levels won’t have the blind spot monitoring.

I disagree. Look at it very closely. There is a ton of Corvette in a C8 . Look at the rear trunk lid over the motor looks like 60s vet. The panels and fenders are definitely Corvette. And the way the interior wraps around that’s been like that since the C5. Yes the flat playing crank is terrible. In my opinion. I don’t want my hundred and $150,000 card to sound like a motorcycle. I like the sound of flat playing cranks when you have more cylinders like 10 cylinders or 12 or 16 but in my opinion eight cylinders doesn’t sound right with flat plane just like six cylinder doesn’t sound good has a cross plan crank

We've got a 2023 C8 Z51 3LT and have owned Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar (before Tata) and 2 other Corvettes before this one. This car? The only thing that came close but not quite in driving experience? Ferrari. But in terms of tech, versatility, cost of ownership? C8 all the way. And Z Mode?! 😆 omfg just hold on is all I've got to say. Can't imagine what the Z06 version of this thing is...
The z mode only allows you to change comfort, for settings the track mode would be the most aggressive drive!
