I love your videos man. But I have to tell you. The throttle closing is an issue with the ECM side of the tuning, not the trans side. Fuel dropping dropping only on the high side is indicative of too much WOT fuel demanded through the current tune. FYI, lots of these LT4s start to develop an ignition like misfire at WOT with anything under 12.00 AFR at WOT because of the direct injection. If you need help with the throttle closure and drivability of this car, message me. 😉

36:36 One of the weirdest modifications I found on a vehicle was a 1965 F250 I got for a screaming good deal. It was in really good condition and ran great, but the battery would go dead overnight. I thought the wiring on a 1965 truck should be simple, so I started working on it. I pulled so much excess wire out of that truck that I filled a 20-gallon trash can. I removed 5 sepeate trailer wire harnesses. It had the stock brake light switch on the master cylinder, plus 2 more switches added to the pedal. There was a single under hood light powered with literally 50' of #10 wire that was wrapped around the steering column to the fan motor and back instead of cutting it to length. It was insane. The problem turned out to be a bad regulator, but it took hours to remove all 5 miles of extra wire just to get to the point I could troubleshoot.

Im glad you didnt just follow the customers idea of going back to stock, which costs a lot, and challenged yourself to make what was there work and fix a faulty part along the way! Tuning sometimes comes easy, but with an unknown bad part, things slow way down and you have to monitor everything. Nice work. Hopefully others learn to not give up as it ultimately isnt in their best interest vs solving the real problems, except for raising value for a stock vehicle/sale situation. Biggest problem could be the time the customer has to sort the issue(daily driver) and finding someone who can efficiently and effectively fix the problem.

You know maybe if id found a shop like this id stayed in the field. Im a ex ASE certified, coding/computer trained tech who walked away in 2010s due to pay/vs skills required. Yeah a parts swapper may be worth todays Tech wage wage, but i gotta be a mechanical expert , a computer expert to truley diagnose and fix cars today. That deserves a GOOD HIGH living wage. Commercial carpenter now(high rises bridges) happier healthier and wealthier. But i do miss fixing stuff that 2+ shops couldnt fix. Customers alwats loved that. I really enjoyed proving the "oh itll never work" ppl wrong

As somebody who's been a tech probably since you were in grade school and works on a lot of modded cars. My guess is someone built this car, maybe a shop but when it didn't run right they assumed that all the parts they'd just installed including the fuel pump that came with car worked (HECK SOMEBODY PROBALLY DROPPED IT) or it was just going bad like it was an Audi pump . Then they tuned until it ran OK , called it good sold the car and moved on. It's an oddly familiar story that involved a 911s.

Tuning and modifying cars is a crazy game. Regarding supporting mods, I have said to myself many times "Nah, I don't really need it right now" and every time, I toss and turn in bed until I finally pony up and buy that part. In this case of the customer refusing the TCU tune to support his ECU tune, I give it a week before he decides yes, he wants his TCU tuned as well, lol.

O.J. You mentioned the TCU being in charge of closing the throttle at the top end and the customer declining additional work to address that. Can you provide more information on that? What would be needed to address that, would you be able to see more gains, what the costs might be, and would if affect drivability(or would it just be something you see on the dyno/track).
Great episode! Really love the detective work and seeing a car put right by great mechanic work.

Cool video man. But throttle closure is 110% ECU tune related. TCU torque limits are completely controllable through the ECU tune. LT4’s also being DI, absolutely HATE being as rich as you’re running that with it pouring black smoke into the cell, AFR in the low 11’s is the best way to turn the bores into a mirror and kill them. Really need to be 12.0-12.3 AFR with a DI car at low boost like that to give it a clean burn.
580rwhp is stock pulley stock cam exhaust+tune numbers so definitely could do with some refinement in the tuning department, but it’s on the right track.
Love seeing the exhaust stuff you guys do.

The inlet to the air box was literally 1/2 in away from the back of the flat surface of the headlight. I cut away part of the inlet to let in more air and it seems to work.
Do manufacturers do simply things like this to limit the hp purposefully? What do you think 🤔? Thank you!

Here from Alex's channel. Like the content but needs a little polishing. I know it's new to you but I recommend watching some other really popular channels how they deliver content as well as even Stacy David as much as I hate to say so with his hair worse than yours, no offense. Alex is really good at explaining everything he does, in terms that novices as well as regular wrenchers can appreciate. I enjoy the car work and the sleuthing. I'd like have a little better explanation of some of the terms even though you explain some of them later but some of the acronyms I was unfamiliar with because I haven't worked on high pressure fuel systems. Even though I wanted more explanation on some things there were some parts that could use some condensing, the intro was a little long-winded and could have been probably knocked down a bit and still gotten the point across.
Also it would have been kind of cool to see a reaction of the client to his car after being changed. Reactions are always popular with videos. Just a couple tips. Hope you succeed, I'll keep watching. The more shows you do the better you'll get I'm sure. Anyway I liked and subbed to help out so keep at it. I know you got the skills to do the car work.

I'm sure I'm not the first one saying this but I lost interest in looking though the first 20 comments to find out.
A modified C7 Zo6 Vette putting down 430hp is absolutely ridiculous. My 2012 GS with just intake headers, catted Xpipe and a tune produced 420hp/420tq. That was on a Mustang dyno that traditionally records at least 10% lower than a traditional dyno.
Given the seat of the pants feel, it's definitely faster than my supercharged 2019 Bullitt.

Not a discovery, but in an effort to drop rpms quickly when shifting, racing only, i have the IAC on a switch. With the IAC closed, the rpms drop like a rock to aid the shift. Also drilled a small hole in the gas cap bc the gas tank was pulling a vacuum (tank thunked after shutting car off) and was causing fueling/drivability issues, resolved after the hole was made. Probably need a new cap but wanted the issue solved permanently. I hope i dont flip my car, its street car.
I turned off the "remove fuel on decel" feature in the stock computer map so now the car coasts in gear (5 spd) rather than the engine trying to brake and slow the car.

@FluidMotorUnion Who tunes your cars for you? I have a C7 Z06 I'd love to get ironed out

I’ve seen a modded car drop a full second in the 1/4 from a shady tuner to a real tuner. A tune can definitely make or break a build

OJ is the mechanic that you hope you get. The tuning game is nothing like it was. You need a pro.
