6:50, that was painful to watch Del lol, bro you need to get yourself a set of Bosch quick change hole saws. I`ve used them to cut holes through RSJ`s to route cables, water pipes etc when i`ve done my kitchens, you`d have cut that hole in one go mate, they do them at Machinemart or online. Great custom job btw, i`ve got me a 2003 anniversary 1200 sportster, the red one, she`s a beauty. Love to Lady P xx
Sure thing mate, I bought the die grinders a while ago, wanted an opportunity to test them out... and was amazed how quickly they vapourise metal... chopped out that hole in less than 2mins, plus got it dead accurate! Congratulations on your new Harley mate... enjoy! Good to hear from you mate, hope life is good, D&Px
Very good insurance against intake leaks!I chased carb tuning issues until I thought I had lost my touch until I got rid of that plastic air box backing plate. I bought an S&S Stealth A/C but your solid mount accomplishes the same thing... a SOLID mount to push the carb firmly into the rubber boot. I also learned to not tighten the intake flanges until the carb was in its exact resting place with the carb backing plate or bracket holding the inlet side in alignment, then when I wiggled the intake into perfect alignment and tightened the flange bolts, my carb tuning know-how suddenly was actually USEFUL again... No mystery amounts of un-metered air mucking the mixture up. Plus, you now have a chance to not have the crankcase breathing oily, dirty air right down the throat of your fresh engine!
Thanks buddy.. good tips all, and yes i do that too.. leave everything half tight until its all installed, then line it up.. Have a great weekend mate and keep safe aye. D&Px
Whenever I do something a kin to this, people ask me "Why don't you just buy something already made?" My usual response, "No need, because I made one myself" or "Because it didn't exist...then, but it does now". A lot folks under estimate using something like cardboard to make a template, I have manila folders handy for that purpose. Great job Del.
Another excellent and inspiring video, thank you very much!!!! One of the faster methods to take out a large window is to drill dense drills in the circumference, let's say 5 mm in diameter, with a space of half a millimeter between the drills, 0.5 wall , then you move to the drill at plus 1 millimeter, and the entire middle part falls. But surely you already know that💖👍
Sure thing buddy, I would normally refer to that as chain drilling, but invested in the burrs so I was keen to see how well they work for this application, and they literally tore that hole out in less than 5mins, very impressive!
You've helped me a lot. This part # 92151-1971 - BOLT is in the left fork of my 07 Meanstreak 1600. Can you advise how to remove it? Thanks in advance!
Another great video brother!!!! The effort put In to that bracket is outstanding and it came out great , 3mm definitely was the way to go so far !!!! Keep up the great work brother bike is looking awesome!!! Stay safe guys cheers from New York !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a camera girl Penny is getting so close to those sparks. Awesome production skills. Saw these same skills in my television production days when we used to produce pop videos. Great ingenuity once again, Del. Awesome video x
Thank you so much for your kind words, it's an honour to have approval from professionals... sounds like you had a wonderful, and exciting, career! Take care and enjoy your weekend, D&Px
Looks like license plate holder !! Lol…. I like that idea !! I made fiberglass flame/heat resistant gasket which flex a little. Works too… I haven’t seen that material since 70’s - 80’s . I like having smaller round being more sexier …look. Can’t wait see how you finish it. 👍
A little more effort (well, that stuff put up quite the fight!) so a lot more effort to make it out of the beefy steel, but now all the guessing and "should I have" thoughts can be dropped in favour of confidence, so totally worth it, eh? Excellent 🙂
Only a master fabricator would put that amount of effort into a part that won't be seen. Beautiful fab work as always Del. Love these videos especially the CAD segment. (cardboard - aided design). 😁 Big thanks and cheers to you and Penny. ❤👍👍
Thanks buddy, you're very kind, but I would never dare to use such a term to describe my fumblings, I make stuff, but I'll never be a craftsman! Just a keen amatuer, loving his hobby. Have a great weekend there, keep safe! D&Px
'Finally - a use for that old steel chastity belt!' (No pig iron was impregnated while mounting this carb.) The lack of cavernously silly airbox will likely address any CofG issues. Solid job. Have a great w/e : )xx
You are fantastic with your idea's🥰👌i have my first Fatboye and now i knew how i make oilservice and much more with The bike. Thank's for all videos you made on this chanel, from Kent in South Sweden😉🤗✌️👍
Nicely done fella. Works for me. 3mm I made almost everything from 3mm I have to say. Can’t stand that air box on the Sportster, so good move as far as I’m concerned buddy. When you decided on those bars I didn’t think it was a good choice, but I’ll admit throughout the build they’ve grown on me and it does work. Bikes looking good fella.
Thanks buddy, glad you approve now, the bike's designed to fit in with a genre and sometimes there's a few sacrificies to form over function! And yep, 3mm was best, make it beefy.
Cracking bit of fabrication mate, I think you made the right decision going with the 3mm steel. More longevity is always a good thing........ That's why I have a sturdy built Mrs 👍
Hiya Penny and Del... great video! As I've seen so often on your channel, what starts out rough and ready has finished up polished and pretty, losing none of its functionality in the process. Great fab work! Take care dear friends... have a great weekend, be well and ride safe.
Thank you so much for your kind words, we're really glad you enjoy the content, small projects are just as important as the bigger ones, just take the time to make a reasonable job of it. !
Hi, del great video on a side note. I've seen some videos being critics of you, and all i can say is ignore them. You are the sort of person i can relate to no posh chat strait to the point and i like that keep up the good work well with pennys help lol have a great weekend.
Thank you buddy, whenever you put yourself on a public platform you will always be criticised, we take the view that if people watch all your content and continually hate on it, then they are still a fan, otherwise they wouldn't watch. We appreciate your support, have a great weekend!
Thomas Thanks to you I went looking for videos that I didn't believe existed. This is ridiculous, disgruntled people, if it was at least funny. We live in a changing world, we are all learning it as we go. What does not change is human beings, good, bad, happy, sad, and some are disgruntled. The D&P's channel manages to maintain freshness and quality of the rare kind, they are leaders in the field. The reason they don't have like a million subscribers is related to an objective dimension, the genre of mechanics do-it-yourself can't reach the dimensions of, lets say, Phil Collins, but the level and quality passes through Dell's videos in every individual frame. For example: 50% viewers cut off only because the difference between M&F.
Hi Del and Penny. Love the work you do. I'm glad you realised the need for the three-millimeter plate. Their is nothing worse than doing a job and then having to do it again. Take care of each other and I look forward to the next Delboy's Garage.
Great video Del & Penny. Excellent fab work mate with the go to cardboard we all use. Penny and you have a great relaxing weekend and take care. Cheers
'Beating that plate stock into submission'....but yeah, it turned out great! Very satisfying type of project for sure and I'm looking forward to what air cleaner you mount up there!
Thank you Sir, glad yo approve, it was wonderful to be able to still be able to be doing a proper, full on fabrication job at this late stage in the project!
Hi Del, nice piece of fabrication. Well thought out. I am sure there are a few marks you could clean up and remove to better refine your very good piece of work though. Look forward to your next video. Have a great week.
Hi Dell which your video is always very entertaining for me do you have any stainless steel rim need to put on my triumph thunderbird 900 . 5.5 wide rim want to put 180/55/17
Just be aware, if the mounting surface isn’t perfectly flat you can have an intake leak there.
That’s why they made silicon gasket goo.. 😊

Vacuum carburettors need the air box to run properly. Good luck!

Exactly that mate, if it's something simple like a bracket then why not just whistle it up form some thick sheet steel.. easy job. !
You won’t regret choosing the 3mm that’s for sure 👍🏻
Yeah, perfect or the job aye !
Another excellent and inspiring video, thank you very much!!!!

Near the left bracket leg there is a pipe that connects to the carburetor and goes up... the bracket need a local trims there...???
Time for an arbor and a tank cutter/ hole saw set dell
On the wish list mate !
You've helped me a lot. This part # 92151-1971 - BOLT is in the left fork of my 07 Meanstreak 1600. Can you advise how to remove it? Thanks in advance!
Does a socket, or spanner, not undo it then?
@Moonfleet41 I'm new at this and I'll check into it. Thank you
Is there a special socket that you're thinking of or just a traditional one
Excellent idea great job but as someone else has already said make sure the mounting surface is dead flat. But you already knew that. Great job dell.
Sure thing mate, they'll be a gasket in there too, so it should be fine!
Another great video brother!!!! The effort put In to that bracket is outstanding and it came out great , 3mm definitely was the way to go so far !!!! Keep up the great work brother bike is looking awesome!!! Stay safe guys cheers from New York !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you brother, am glad you appreciate it!
what is the scribe your using to mark the metal, the cool looking handled one?
It's a tungsten tip dart, the kind you throw in the pub and I made the handle from some twisted square stock steel.

The cracking isn’t an issue if you radius the corners properly, drill the holes at the corners and cut to them last.
Correct indeed mate.
Nice job, del. You new air filter will look way better than before. Will complement the bike perfectly. Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg
Thank you Günter, I just wanted something simple that didn't stand out from the rest of the bike..!
Very nice work. I could see a copper mesh trumpet snorkel fitting nicely into the design. Have a great weekend you two!
