A great listen if you ever want to dive into more of her music! Most of the songs on the album also have mvs or special performance clips with subs. she always has her hand on her music, solo, subunit, or in mamamoo music.... but they all give soooo soo different vibes. I personally like her b-sides from her solo the most but all her part in the group is also the most exciting part if you get to see them perform live (like the crowd went wild during her part) so yeah tho I might like style as a solo better but I gotta say her contribution in Mamamoo is also something very special.

Moonbyul aka Moonstar aka MB 😅(btw you were pronouncing her name correctly!) second eldest, is the main rapper of the group and was basically told she didn't have a good enough singing voice (which is bs, because she does!) she has an androgynous fashion style, but woman is beautiful and can rock whatever the hell she wants! Wheein has this airy tone to her voice that just resonates, she recently left their company but has an agreement to still be a part of mamamoo. She went to school and is best friends with Hwasa. Hwasa is the youngest, and has a smokey jazzy tone. she is a sub rapper and full of attitude and sex appeal. One of the previous mv you watched HIP, Hwasa touched on an incident that occurred where ppl were hating and criticizing her 'fashion' . Koreans ideal image type (though i find is changing... albeit slowly) tends toward females being lean, not curvy, small face, light skin, etc... even bts members like RM were not considered good looking in 'idol' standards. Hwasa is so gorgeous, but the Korean beauty standards are so narrow, she mostly doesn't match with them. She got a lot of hate from ppl saying she is fat (bc she has a curvy body shape and not the slim ideal type) or bcs her skin tone is not fair perhaps but more tanned (I am not sure about this one), and so on. This is why she made that legendary statement: I am gonna become a new standard. Hwasa is gorgeous, so how can she not be considered beautiful? If she doesn't fit today's korean society standard, it might mean different forms of beauty are killed in this cultural frame. The topic of Korean beauty standards is VERY complex. While it is admirable the effort to look aesthetically pleasing (beauty is very satisfying right?), I believe that certain things considered beauty standards in Korea don't always mean a person is beautiful if they have them. Beauty is subjective after all. So when it is made a rule, it puts people under a lot of pressure and insecurity even, and unfairly so, I think. A lot of things that are considered the beauty standards in Korea are oddly too close to typical caucasian features vs. typical han ethnical features (what we usually associate as east asian features). It pains me to see ppl feeling bad about their own ethnical characteristics thinking others are more good looking. I can't quite wrap my mind around the idea that BTS members like Namjoon or Hobi (j-hope) were for a long time (and maybe still are in a way) perceived as not handsome compared to the members that meet korean beauty standards. Cause all the members are gorgeous and especially in their diversity. I recommend some videos about Korean beauty standards, since it is such a culturally impactful aspect in Korean society. to explain the ending, they called that section "MAMAmoo" because those were all clips from an awards show called MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards). it's kinda like the Asian Grammys, basically the biggest award show of the season, so groups put on huge performances and mamamoo is known for having some of the best ones that get the best reactions from other artists. they kill it every time! :)

she always has her hand on her music, solo, subunit, or in mamamoo music.... but they all give soooo soo different vibes. I personally like her b-sides from her solo the most but all her part in the group is also the most exciting part if you get to see them perform live (like the crowd went wild during her part) so yeah tho I might like style as a solo better but I gotta say her contribution in Mamamoo is also something very special.

YES!!!! So happy you are doing more Mamamoo.... 4 of the most talented women in SK.... they are such hard workers and (like BTS) have had to claw their way up.... they write much of their own music and are the only girl group I really have time for. Hwasa is my bias and Moonbyul my bias wrecker.

your saying moonbyuls name right in the beginning lol its all good the pronunciation can differ from how it might look in romenization sometimes so its an easy mistake to make. Solar is the oldest and leader of the group, she has an incredible set of pipes on her (honestly they all do) and she kept getting rejected from companys because she was older than what they wanted despite her talent (their loss).
Moonbyul aka Moonstar aka MB 😅(btw you were pronouncing her name correctly!) second eldest, is the main rapper of the group and was basically told she didn't have a good enough singing voice (which is bs, because she does!) she has an androgynous fashion style, but woman is beautiful and can rock whatever the hell she wants!
Wheein has this airy tone to her voice that just resonates, she recently left their company but has an agreement to still be a part of mamamoo. She went to school and is best friends with Hwasa.
Hwasa is the youngest, and has a smokey jazzy tone. she is a sub rapper and full of attitude and sex appeal. One of the previous mv you watched HIP, Hwasa touched on an incident that occurred where ppl were hating and criticizing her 'fashion' .
Koreans ideal image type (though i find is changing... albeit slowly) tends toward females being lean, not curvy, small face, light skin, etc... even bts members like RM were not considered good looking in 'idol' standards.

Hwasa is so gorgeous, but the Korean beauty standards are so narrow, she mostly doesn't match with them. She got a lot of hate from ppl saying she is fat (bc she has a curvy body shape and not the slim ideal type) or bcs her skin tone is not fair perhaps but more tanned (I am not sure about this one), and so on. This is why she made that legendary statement: I am gonna become a new standard. Hwasa is gorgeous, so how can she not be considered beautiful? If she doesn't fit today's korean society standard, it might mean different forms of beauty are killed in this cultural frame.
The topic of Korean beauty standards is VERY complex. While it is admirable the effort to look aesthetically pleasing (beauty is very satisfying right?), I believe that certain things considered beauty standards in Korea don't always mean a person is beautiful if they have them. Beauty is subjective after all. So when it is made a rule, it puts people under a lot of pressure and insecurity even, and unfairly so, I think.
A lot of things that are considered the beauty standards in Korea are oddly too close to typical caucasian features vs. typical han ethnical features (what we usually associate as east asian features). It pains me to see ppl feeling bad about their own ethnical characteristics thinking others are more good looking.
I can't quite wrap my mind around the idea that BTS members like Namjoon or Hobi (j-hope) were for a long time (and maybe still are in a way) perceived as not handsome compared to the members that meet korean beauty standards. Cause all the members are gorgeous and especially in their diversity.
I recommend some videos about Korean beauty standards, since it is such a culturally impactful aspect in Korean society. I leave some I believe are interesting. I suggest you watch them in the order they are listed bellow, bcs they organised from the more on the factual side to the more opinionated one.

to explain the ending, they called that section "MAMAmoo" because those were all clips from an awards show called MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards). it's kinda like the Asian Grammys, basically the biggest award show of the season, so groups put on huge performances and mamamoo is known for having some of the best ones that get the best reactions from other artists. they kill it every time! :)

BTW, Moonbyul is like top 3 most credited female artists in kpop ever, that's bc she writes all of her raps besides most of her solo songs and some Mamamoo songs. All the other girls have co-written a bunch of songs too both as soloists and group. They are very involved in the creation of their music, videos, dance, image etc.
