There's a reason why a large contingent of Pokémon fans don't even touch the main series games anymore and instead content themselves with older games, ROM hacks, fan games, or games like Palworld.
Pokémon fan here and guilty. I beat and played the new main line games but I enjoy the older games (emulated) and Palworld a lot more. You almost had to “force” yourself to like the newer games and it took me playing the older games/Palworld to truly realize that
Lmao so true, life long Pokémon fan here since 99 and still play Emerald multiple times a year. Haven’t touched any other game more than Twice since release with the exceptions of gen 3 gba games.
I struggled to finish scarlet and violet, and legends arceus, and I am a long time pokemaniac. I am just...tired of their lack of giving any form of a damn. This isn't a lack of polish, this is a lack of caring.
I though about buying violet, but I didnt like the bike concept nor did the boss battle apeal to me! (Watched on youtube) but am enjoying palworld. And considering Nintendo never puts thier games on sale, I went for a cheaper alternative!
Same… I still haven’t finished Pokemon Legends Arceus, except I finished Scarlet, DLC and completed Blueberry quests to get all the legendaries… then finding out the legendaries are shiny-locked and they have a low catch rate… so now I’m supposed to spend even more time, grinding away, throwing over 20-30 pokeballs at legendaries? It felt like the company were giving me, the player, the middle finger. But PalWorld? It was so refreshing to play that game, I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun playing a game. If I had to think, it was probably Pokemon Yellow or Silver.
I agree, Scarlet + Violet felt more like a fan made Gmod project than a game from a big company. No hate towards gmod tho, people make some cool stuff there
Guess we also gotta remember palworld is on pc and xbox x which are both more powerfull than the switch. I have little doubt that the switch could run it it'll be at lower performance so will have to see how far the switch cam be pushed for pokemon
The main thing everyone is realizing from Palworld: we don’t have to be complacent with shit games anymore because now the floodgates of competition are open
@@TrainerAQ maybe im wrong but i dont thing pubg and fortnite fall under indie. maybe pubg, dont know the company. but fortnites epicgames to my knowledge
@@TrainerAQ While I agree how far back are we saying counts as "right now"? Because games likes undertale were released almost a decade ago; a good game but wouldn't say it would fall into a "right now" category.
Competition!? What competition? What makes PKMN the franchise it is, is not it's systems. And if GameFreak changes it in any major way.. it WON'T be PKMN. This is like finishing Last of Us and jumping to Zelda TotK just to play something. It's not the same game! Just look at Magic the Gathering and the amount of time it had to be what it is.. and how no other TCG or CCG can ever compete! Not even Sorcery, One Piece, Flesh and Blood or whatever. These companies have been here for so long and have such a hold of the market, that they would need to die for others to take their place. PKMN is never going do die! And people just have to accept that what might replace it will NOT play like PKMN does.
very well put. Pokemon has been on a decline for awhile now at this point. It so frustrating to see there be potential in the newer games that are never used properly. It's straight up insulting that palword is able to make a game that uses the potential of pokemon in a way that is enjoyable while a multi million dollar franchise that i've grown up with can't make a game that runs properly.
@@FrostFangTCGthey care more about their employees than their fans that they allow them to work even if they're no longer useful. I really feel that most people that work on Gamefreak are still the same people who worked on the 2D versions that never pushed themselves to evolve. Now we're moving to the 3D era, they're just becoming dead weight and they'll continue producing trash until they find a way to restructure, and find new talent to throw away legacy code and push Pokèmon to a new direction. It doesn't help that they kept making so much Pokèmon during the 2D era, it had become way too impractical to individually animate every Pokèmon ever made and move them to the new game, then redo the animations every entry. Pocket Pair is lucky they don't have to carry the same luggage Game Freak has.
Straight facts, brother. Pokemon has just become the Japanese CoD, not giving a damn anymore. More wanting to throw you DLC and whatever else than a good game, and keep pumping it out because why not, it’s Pokemon, it makes a lot of money. I remember when the next Pokemon Direct was an event, where you were on the edge of your seat to see what Satoshi Tajiri and his crew were cooking up this time. I remember watching the Sun and Moon announcements, the X and Y announcements, the ORAS announcements, and my goodness I could tell they were trying their hardest with the jump to 3D, and they had a relatively strong start with X and Y. Mega evolutions blew me away, Z Moves were goofy if still impressively animated, and OH MY GOODNESS I cannot explain the levels of sadness I felt playing Pokemon X when I realized I couldn’t mega evolve Gallade, because that’s just how enamored I was with mega evolution and the Pokemon series, that I just knew, I NEEDED to get Alpha Sapphire to get a Mega Gallade. I’m a Mega Lucario guy now, but not the point…. What happened to you, Pokemon? Because all I see in the new Directs are “New region, new gimmick, new pokemon” because be honest, everyone… Who here was ACTUALLY excited about Charizard turning big? Do you remember Mega Evolution where they FINALLY gave him the Dragon Type? How bat shit insane that was?! Now, it’s just “Ehhh, your Charizard is just big now, and with a diamond hat or something”
Disagree. Terastalization is the coolest Pokemon gimmick since mega evolving. You can make any mon any type that's crazy creative. The animation of it could be improved but nobody ever played Pokemon for the graphics.
Pokemon doesn't have the technical talent or base for their current release schedule. Games that release this often have really, really solid tech foundations and don't actually need to change anything between titles besides incremental improvements. Pokemon is in need of a direct overhaul in the tech department, it's REALLY bad. The kind of changes that need several years and new talent to do.
Pokemon has kind of had a monopoly in its little genre of game for a looooong time. I think a little competition/rivalry can only be for the good of the game. I've seen the same thing happen with The Sims franchise - they have ruled the life simulation genre and it has made the games become steadily worse. Now there are finally more life simulator games starting to be made and it's hopefully gonna make EA/Maxis work harder at improving The Sims. I hope Gamefreak will see people enjoy Palworld and realise they need to work harder to improve Pokemon.
sorry to break it to ya but palworld honestly isn't in competition with pokemon whatsoever. pokemon is the biggest multi billion dollar franchise in the entire world, and what palworld is doing is only really scratching the giant that pokemon is
@@afro025 I mean the game is in early access. This is literally just the baseline the devs came out with. If it is successful like other early access games that went on to be big it will be big and if they come out with a sequel? Its probably going to start taking market share from Nitendo. That is however, if they play their cards right.
@@peterbaumgartner4878 it's successful for the same reason kagura bachi was successful, because of the memes (and the controversy). but once those topics run dry, there's nothing else palworld has that will bring in new players unlike digimon or yokai watch, palworld *relies* on being seen as a pokemon clone. it can't stand on it's own, it thrives on being in the shadow of pokemon and people making comparisons to it like, tell me this, if pokemon didn't exist, would palworld exist? because ik for sure that series like dragon quest or digimon or yokai watch still would be franchise even if pokemon wasn't a thing
I can see competition being good accept Pokemon cannot compete the current market any more due to the games only being available for a last generation platform that refuses to update to next gen technology
There are much better alternatives to love on. Palworld stole not only models, but animations from other games, like breath of the wild. What good is championing one scummy company over another?
Saddest thing is that Pokemon will ABSOLUTELY not change at all. Parents are still going to buy shit for their kids because it says Pokemon on the tin. Casual players that absolutely gobble up anything popular will still get Pokemon. Nintendo and game freak absolutely does not have to give a shit about quality in order for pokemon to sell at all and will continue to do so
I think a great balance was Let's go Pikachu being a game aimed at children. Let the adults cook with something else or at least give us a difficulty slider 😅
Hmmmm yeah for the next decade or so... but if it stays shit its just gonna become obsolete, specially after Palworld becomes a mainstay in the industry and outsells Pokemon every time then its gonna eat the Pokemon market
I saw the linearity of SW SH when the trailers first dropped and the fact that the wild area was quite basic, along with the bad vibes that they lied about using new models, and stopped buying new Pokémon games. I may buy Legends Arceus but seeing Scarlet and Violet release in the state it did, I just can't bring myself to buy another one. I was hoping the gen 4 remakes would kick ass just like ORAS, but instead I got burnt by a faithfully bad pair of disappointments. It's just depressing. As a fan I feel so disrespected by it all.
For me, the problems started at X and Y. The games started becoming braindead easy, removed post game fun, put in mechanics they couldnt carry through generations; they started resting on laurels of previous success. I didnt even try SwSh or Scarlet/Violet because Pokemon broke me as a fan by then. People, myself included were waiting for the first mainline console Pokemon games to see what interesting things could be done for years. They just didnt try that hard and chose to rest on laurels again. Palworld is in the vein of what people were expecting. Let me hop on my favorite Pokemon and run around. Interact with stuff. Similar to how Breath of the Wild is; while that game has flaws, it's a gamer paradise. Most people can brainstorm up what an ideal 3d Pokemon looks like and TPC and Game Freak chose none of them.
guess what? Pokemon gave up after black/white 2 considering that the game sold only 8m copies while xy sold over 16 million when the game was unfinished and pure garbage, they stopped caring since fans disliked black/white 2.
The lack of competition, and the love for a product/brand will always end up causing the people behind it to cut corners and become lazy, I hope this finally sends a wake up call to the higher ups, and will finally let the devs fulfil their potential
One thing I will say is seeing all of this discourse surrounding Pokémon and Palworld makes me wanna go back on my DS and play some of the older games to try to get a glimpse of the magic I felt when I was a kid. One of those “magic” games for me was HeartGold/SoulSilver. Something about it makes me feel like a child again and I’m probably gonna start up a new playthrough and hope and pray for a brighter/more polished future for this brand.
same for me. every couple years i go back and play og Emerald/ruby/sapphire, favorite gen, but gettin the itch for gen 1/2/Mystery Dungeon games lately. bought one of every gen up to 8, but just dont hit the same as up to probably diamond/pearl for me.

I agree with you. Pokémon alienated its own audience. And now it's paying for it. You do not take away features such as the national dex. Game freak does not own the concept of catching monsters and training them. There were games that came before game freak.
You must be doing something right because you randomly showed up on my feed and I just assumed you were a big youtuber with the thumbnail and quality of the start of the video. I had a quick look at your video playlist and your last two videos are definitely an improvement in terms of what is considered a clickable thumbnail. Enjoyed the video. Likewise I think the pokemon company/gamefreak needs to put more effort into their games. The franchise reeks of laziness right now. They seem content to rake in the money and take no risks. Good luck with the channel!😅
You know what I hate the most out of the modern Pokemon games: the raid battles. They are essentially pay-to-win content where the difficulty is so ramped up that I honestly don't blame people hacking the best Mons into the game. It's the sequence breaking when you get that massive boost/debuff off and deliver a powerful attack is where i draw the line because the Pokemon takes five to six turns setting up in your face: - Set up tera barrier - Removes all debuffs and status effects - Removes all buffs - Steals Tera orb energy - Sets up with the fifth move to boost attack or speed - Ability effect kicks in All of this is also eating up your timer as well.
I agree. Sometimes the Pokémon will even attack three times in a row and then the raid screen freezes, you can’t do anything while the timer goes down. I’m convinced the devs purposely made raids to be frustrating and basically unplayable for players. Like you, raid battles have been the one thing I detest the most about modern Pokémon games… I use one of those Pokémon discord servers who organise raids and after catching the Pokémon, I always come away feeling sad or not feeling accomplished because people were rude, mean, toxic to others … the whole experience was so full of negativity, it wasn’t for me so I’ve stopped doing raids altogether. Doing Blueberry Quests with a group of people was a mild improvement, I prefer that much more over clunky raids.
Out first sign of Nintendo and Gamefreak reflecting on the declining Quality of Pokemon games is if they INFACT delay the scheduled mainline pokemon slated to release next year. Betet if they delay it FOR A YEAR OR MORE.
I really don't care for the game or the drama despite being a massive Pokemon fan, but everyone is saying "Palworld is Pokémon but better", when all it really offers is a sandbox to live out your depraved fantasies 😭 it's just Pokémon but you LITERALLY enslave them and you can shoot them with guns. All Palworld has going for it is shock value. It's a meme, and overtime the meme is gonna die down. The novelty of enslaving and shooting Pokem- er- "Pals" will wear off and then we'll move on to the next big thing. I could literally care less about whether Palworld will be sued or not, but Palworld ain't ever going to be able to dethrone Pokémon if it can't even stand out of it's shadow.
Every pokemon game from gbc to 3ds had me playing for at least 4 hours when i first got them. Switch era has me only like 1 hour sessions. Palworld had me playing for 6 hours. 6!!! It's a massive breath of fresh air.
I was on a pokemon hiatus since 09, and I came back after seeing legends arceus. Always kinda kept up with what was going on and its many controversies. Thought the game was pretty damn good for what it was, and somewhat of a tech demo for future titles to iterate off of. We ended up going to the midnight release for a physical copy of S/V. A thing I haven't done since Brink(no wonder why it was my last). After getting through it I can easily say I'm back on my hiatus.
Legends is by far the best Pokémon game of the modem times but still could have been waaaay better! All hail palworld for pushing Pokémon in the right direction….I hope! I reeealllly do pray and hope!
I started to become disenfranchised with pokemon when you could no longer obtain all pkmn as i always aimed to complete the pokdex (by porting over my old pokemon) and catch them all this wasn't the thing which put me off playing altogether Then I did get pkmn shield though I never finished it and the fact that the games seemed to be getting simpler just put me off them Last thing I'll add Simon (and I don't have the direct quote or source) but I remember watching a video a whole ago and a game freak insider apparently went on record saying "it doesn't matter what we make (referring to pkmn scarlet/violet) as people will still buy it" (Oh also the only "new" pokemon game I've really enjoyed is pkmn infinite fusion. Anyone looking for an old pokemon game with a new twist and lots of cool mechanics I'd highly recommend it as it has so much repayablility and the team buildingis insanely fun)
I honestly don't think game freak should be the ones at blame here. If you play the story and explore the ideas they explored. Game freak have a lot of good ideas but they are force to make them barebones because they are just put under such tight dead lines, those same deadlines that they had in their 2d development days. They don't have the time to fix all the glitches like the ones when scarlet and violet launched. I think we need to pressure nintendo itself and not gamefreak.
I had tons of fun with scarlet and violet outside of the glitches and crashes but I'm in the minority here I feel. The makings of what could have been the greatest pokemon game yet are there but it's not living up to what it could have been. Once all my friends stopped playing I realized there's really no reason to keep playing the game because raids are glitchy, even if they worked I have no one to play them with. there's no battle facility to allow me to battle varied teams with the pokemon teams I put together so I just stopped building teams in game. I actually enjoy battles in gen 9 compared to gen 8 because the battle mechanic is much more engaging, but there's no facility of any kind to battle in where trainers have wild tera types or tera more than their last pokemon. The trainers in game don't even use the gimmick to it's fullest half the time. The bug type gym leader could have had a very low level Scyther that knew fury cutter and would turn into a tera Bug type which would make the move Fury cutter get 2x damage bonus, plus every time she uses the move it increases in power leading to a fairly challenging gym near the main town of the game that would help incentivize players to explore. The best gym leader in the game that I feel uses the mechanic to it's fullest is Iono with her Tera electric Mismagius, this gives her a powerful special attacker pokemon with only a single weakness to ground which her ability levitate negates leading to a pokemon with no weaknesses forcing players to think more strategically than simply bringing in a ground type and clicking ground move 3 times to sweep her team.
Polemom Scarlet and Violet are the reasons I lost alot of interest in the franchise. The games are a buggy mess, with glitches, dropping frames, and the blandest open world design I’ve seen in a triple AAA game in a long time. These were the first pokemon games where I finished the game and honestly barely enjoyed any of it. Hopefully GameFreak can learn from this and actually make quality games like the DS-era, GBA-era or even the 3DS-era games of Pokemon.
I'd argue the problems were always present in all Pokemon games, but we ignored them because the games were well polished and feature complete enough. The issues started becoming more apparent with X & Y, when they embraced the linear level design and progression, easy difficult, and nostalgia pandering. This was also when TPC began marketing Pokemon heavily outside of the Pokemon community bubble, making it more appealing to casuals. ORAS was when I and many fans realized Game Freak was corner cutting. Remember the "The Battle Frontier Project has started"? Sun & Moon I think it was a well made game, but I played once and never will play again because of how intrusive the story and cutscenes are. USM just made the story and battle music worse. Also, Gen 7 planted the seeds for Dexit by removing the National Dex.
@@painnmisery2582 the mainline is averaged around 25 1/2 hours to complete. The full game including side missions is averaged at 78 hours to 100% completion. Everyone has the right to their own opinion though.
I am going to be completely realistic here. Pal world has done jack shit to pokemon, both games are drastically different and not even the moster part is the same. The only similar part to pokemon is the monsters are cute and you catch them in a ball. The rest of the game is just a cheap asset swap knock off of other games like Ark and conan exiles. This game isnt going to push gamefreak and i never going to be considered a failure for pokemon. Temtem is far close that palwoeld ever is and the fate of palworld is exactly the same as the prior game forgotten about in a couple weeks especially with the pokemon showcase being next week as soon as that arives palworld will be all but forgotten.
Honestly my biggest problem with the dlc is the lack of anything to do post story as everything is just a grind simulator. I miss bw2 where you had so much to do and explore, like white tree hallow or black tower, to the battle subway, and the best addition to a Pokémon game that they never brought back was the pwt. That game screamed passion which in today’s Pokémon is what I find is lacking and makes me not want to play it at all anymore.
Agreed, imo this comparison between these two games is good feedback for TPC & GF to be more critical and hopefully take more time or care into their games. Not only graphically/performance wise but I hope story/mechanic wise. ( I personally want more than just defeat gym leaders stop evil team over n over) I want a reinvention for Gen 10.
I imagine they would only 'try' a bit to at least release something of better quality when their first ever release on their new gen console flop hard. I don't really see that happening personally since they seem to be too huge to fail now but I'm expecting them to receive tons of ridicule online for releasing such garbage year after year after people saw Palworld.
My thing is that palworld feels like what legends was really pushing to be (minus the whole funny guns and slavery thing), and that kinda does hurt since legends had so many fantastic ideas that needed more pushing and fleshing out. For example: Noble pokemon: an awesome idea for a true boss battle against these ferocious beasts... But then you throw out a pokemon and its back to turn based. Nothing wrong with turn based per se, but man was I hoping for more than just clicming the super effective move (especially when 3/5 have easy quad weaknesses). The synchro machine in scar/vio dlc though makes me very, VERY hopeful that this is something they're working to incorporate however. But palworld did it better, the pokemon you use can auto fight, or the mountable ones can be directly controlled in combat and use actual attacks unlike scar/vio. THATS what i want. Utilizing the mons: legends arceus touched on this minimally, various people ask for pokemon that ultimately are used so that you can get better resources, primarily in the fields. Hope you dont wanna see them actually doing the work though, instead you just get told that they're doing work! Again, palworld pushed the concept further. Now we can actually see the pals doing tasks and helping out and engaging with the world. Raids/alphas: legends has raids out in the field, but being real this does nothing unless you're shiny hunting or filling in dex entries. Palworld? Oh theres just a raid of horny lizard and suicide bombing birds trying to destroy your base, those mons of yours better defend it! This also brings up alpha pokemon, fantastic idea, but with how aggressive they are, why do we never see them try to attack the village? I'd love to have to send out the pokemon im hoarding in my ranch to defend the village while me and my team go on and try to fight an alpha thats controlling them. Thats how I see it all: what I wanted after legends arceus was more innovation and a sense of pushing the series to newer and higher grounds. What i got was a game that was amazing in many ways, except as a game. QoL uodates and the story were fantastic, but its hard to appreciate them in a game thats as frankly pathetic as scar/vio are, ESPECIALLY after legends showed they can do so much more. Palworld though is that legends 2.0 feeling game that Ive been wanting for a long time now. I can only hope that pokemon intends on pushing the legends series forward cause its the only thing keeping me remotely interested in the IP right now.
Pokémon’s been stale for a very long time. This game is a blessing because it’ll wake up the Pokémon company and we will stop getting half baked games every single year.
I was also a big pokemon fan in the first 3 generations. Then they started to lose me. Id occasionally buy a more modern title, and they got progressively more disappointing. Then came Legends Arceus....they almost had me. I was so relieved to see some sort of progress, some new ideas and gameplay. And then that ended up being disappointing too. Mostly because they stopped supporting it and adding content. I assumed it was because the next game was going to build on that concept. They then proceeded to do the same disappointing crap with a few gimmicks. Pokemon Company! Please! Ditch the frequent release schedule! Spend some time and make a real game! Or you will die and be forgotten like every other company that relied on this failing formula. Quality over quantity always....Meanwhile ill be here, playing Palworld.
For Scarlet/Violet, I will say that the "Sandwich" story line pulled at my heartstrings a bit. And the buildup to and final battle with the "Professor"... THAT was awesome. Everything else though was a wash.
Pokémon need some strong competition then they will have to do better plus Nintendo need a better console open world games don’t work well on hand held devices due to hardware limitations it’s the whole reason why most games come out so bad thier rushed and have no passion behind them the fact 20 indie devs made something that has out sold and has more players then any games in the last 5 plus years is a huge wake up call the industry needs, less greed less share holders more passion and love and more time to make games is what’s needed.
I don't care for pokemon to get better. I like how palworld is doing with the game. Let palworld take front and center so they know we are serious. If palworld add more content and other things I probably won't pick up pokemon. Only reason I play it because it's the only ok monster game out
I do agree will pretty much everything you said, I think Pokémon needs to stop with mainline releases every year and should maybe release them I would say around every 1 year and 6 months I don’t know if that would be a considerate amount of time and polish but I feel that should be the shortest amount of time they take on mainline releases.
Look at the map alone, the number of crossbreeding variations, the indept systems, thr MULTIPLAYER, the freedom, the options... This is giving us so much we have been asking game freak for years now and if game freak doesnt highly deliver on their next game why should I buy it if I can just keep playing palworld?
@@simonsayshello how can pal world give us like 50 different difficulty options and game freak can't let us turn off the fu*king exp share? Are they so out of touch or do they just Wanne spite us? I've been around since Gen 1 and loved Pokemon since, but no, they definitely deserve this. Hopefully the competition leads to them improving, even if it's wishful thinking. I didn't even realize the EXP Share was basically forced on you this gen since I don't have the current system...
I'll defend the pre switch Pokemon games until the day i die. Palworld is still really fun to me amd since I barely played Scarlet and violet this fits the gap i was needing
I agree with you, thank you for making the video. I’m glad I’m not alone in my thoughts and that I’m not the only one who sacrificed one of my core childhood memories to remember Pokémon names (in my case, it was my memory of timetables that got yeeted to remember 151 Pokémon lol). I hope you don’t receive any hate for this video, you are very respectful, you have valid criticisms and concerns as a long-time Pokemon fan. I just wanted to say, you’re not alone. I really hope PalWorld’s success makes TPC/GF/Nintendo sit up and realise delivering a woefully substandard game that runs like crap is not the kind of game a multi-billion dollar franchise should putting out. Especially when you compare Pokémon Scarlet to other Nintendo games like Zelda or Mario games, it makes Pokémon looks like a total joke, like a high-school class project that was thrown together last minute. It drives me up the wall! In the meantime, playing PalWorld has been so much fun, I’m looking forward to playing with friends!
hey Simon you are not alone on how you feel, I am 38 and since age 12 i loved Pokémon. and after Scarlet my love for it died some of the designs are just stupid make no sense. then in anime we lost Ash, just to have another Pikachu and Charizard be shown in anime by another user.... Game Freaks like oh a mechanic from this gen cant go to another gen because it is what made that gen unique BS. I have not played Pal World yet but i did buy it and will Enjoy it when I get the time.
There’s a reason they make no sense. Pokémon has always had a fine line between normal biological animals and yokai. You either have an animal or a yokai. These new Pokémon are strange cyborg amalgamation of yokai and animal/humanoid stitched together which is more of a yugioh or digimon thing. Not Pokémon. Miradiron is a perfect example of if this amalgamation, an animal that is a motorcycle? Am I supposed to take that seriously?
Pokemon has been at the top for so long now that they know they're confident enough to release effortless games and still make money off them. Competition is healthy, and I truly hope Palworld causes them to open their eyes and see people won't settle for mediocre anymore.
In defense of Team Yell, I guess I'm okay with them not really being bad guys and just Marnie stans. I mean, it can't get bigger than destroying the universe and summoning devil Pokemon himself, right?
Yeah...Arlo is a pretty big citric of Pokémon. And he was criticizing the performance less than the content. Arlo hadn't played a game before SwSh since Gen IV. If you were going to find a TH-camr who is a die-hard Pokémon fan, Arlo wouldn't be in the first 3/4ths of those who'd qualify. Pokémon is a series where you don't really play for threat, and the game doesn't suffer from that. If you just compare it _to_ Palworld, Palworld has _no_ story. I think it's one thing to be critical of objective failures: SwSh had a terrible story with terrible pacing. SV had awful performance (but it was easily playable. It was just terrible performance. There's no excuse for the game to release that way, and there's no reason it shouldn't have been addressed after the release.) It's good to say you want more difficulty, and thus, Pokémon is too easy for you. But Pokémon doesn't have to have a world-ending threat. It's not a flaw if it's too easy. It's just too easy for you. It doesn't have to be open-world. It doesn't have to leave the turn-based battle format. And frankly, as long as the sales in merch and for the game are fine, they received _no_ message at all. And even if they did care to improve the performance, Game Freak doesn't have the skill to improve it let alone the time, because the merch is more important. And Game Freak is never gonna give the reigns to another competent company, because they own a third of The Pokémon Company. As soon as they stop developing it, Nintendo and Creatures would push them out as owner, and Game Freak would (financially and as their flagship) lose Pokémon. What we've gotten will improve based only on the factors that make The Pokémon Company move, and competition with a game that isn't in the same genre of Pokémon isn't it. (As a parting shot, without the Pokémon style, Palworld wouldn't have gotten the press online. If the Pals looked like Monster Hunter designs or looked like Digimon, do you think they would have had the sales success they had? Probably not: it was called "Pokémon with Guns" and marketed as such.)
The Pokemon Company doesn't care about its fans. And their Demographics have always been children. Sad fact is they probably don't care about Palworld and will still release shitty title after shitty title and make more money anyways.
your gonna get hate for this video but i want to let you know i agree pokemon has gotten lazy, complacent with knowing each game will sell PLA...was what gave me hope for SV...and i regret buying SV.....1 year and 2 months and they STILL havent fixed the performance and fps from launch. they give us excuses instead, "oh switch cant handle it" when xenoblade and Tears of the Kingdom prove them wrong. i want the original pokemon back. Gen 1 to Gen 5 they were pushing the bar for what 2d is capable of. when a problem came up like cartriage size, THEY FOUND WAYS to make it work. when others said "you cant go further with 2d animation" they proved them wrong then Gen 6 came, and 3D was...bit rought, but first time with 3d. the story took a huge hit but...ok. ORAS came and showed they were still king of the handheld. perfection. Gen 7 came and...ok its a bit hit or miss. generally solid, but its clear they wanted a break from the normal formula. the lore for this game was amazing. then Gen 8, first console and....what.....story sidelined entirely, no villians, route exploration was replaced by VERY NARROW linear paths. and all pokemon games had linear paths, but this was the first to FEEL like one. and it hurt...so bad... BDSP came out and....didnt do anything wrong per say, but didnt do anything right. a remake with nothing new, when the standard for pokemon remakes has ALWAYS been latest gen graphics, more story, more pokemon, more all. this...lacked it was the first real clue i had that....pokemon has changed. they no longer care about pushing the bar. they just want the annual release with minimal effort. the very minimal ammount of work input to the game. then PLA came and said "no, we are still here". sure its bare bones for an open world game, and graphics were poor. but i didnt care. the theme, the color, the refreshing new step for pokemon. this game was all i wanted. i was looking forward to DLC. ....and nothing...... SV got announced 2 weeks after PLA was released.... SV...that had inexcusable performance, so many bugs, and raids that were somehow WORSE THAN SwSh. the story took a few new steps, but continued to remove stuff we took for granted from older games. this game, felt so rushed and bare bones, i STILL believe when people tell me it was bad cause 70% of the team was working on PLA, and only worked on SV for a few months. SV got 2 dlcs....neither impressed. in fact indigo disc showed they STILL doing the MINIMUM. double battles YAY. but you can only do each one ONCE. the double battle CLUB. has NOTHING but single battles after....... the synchromachine has NOTHING for it. just show it off and...no puzzles...no mini games... i love pokemon, i was there when it first came out, watching on Kids WB in the morning before school. playing Pokemon Blue. trading cards with my starter machamp deck. but now....its dead. pokemon has lost all my trust. their next game has to PROVE its a banger before i will even bother to pick it up or CONSIDER buying it. the only thing left holdign me to pokemon....considering the anime got delayed OVER A YEAR after SV (AND STILL ISNT OUT) is......Pokemon Mystery Dungeon...the spin off that remains the only thing the creators care for with passion......and its not even made by pokemon company...its by Spike Chunsoft.... i hope Palworld continues to do well. it has a bright future with mod support and more pals, more maps, more base building. a solid multiplayer network. it could be the next minecraft civilizations fad. but mostly...i hope Palworld wakes Pokemon up to the fact that pokemon fans ARE LEAVING. they are not blindly loyal anymore. the gate is open and pokemon's blood is in the water. ALL other companies are watching Palworld and seeing the pokemon fans FLEEING pokemon for palworld, and are realizing pokemon is not the untouchable juggernaught anymore. its a wounded whale prime for feeding. if Pokemon doesn't realize this soon, and put some INSANE work into their next game.....Digimon, Temtem, Yo-kai watch, palworld, and a dozen other creature capture games i KNOW other companies are making in the wake of Palworld's success, will all rip pokemon to shreds. i dont want that. i love pokemon, dearly....but they have to change....or die.
great video. i know gamefreak wont learn a damn thing. so ill keep supporting guys like temtem and palworld until the management in the company changes.
What really killed Pokemon for me was when they cut the national dex and removed mega evolution without improving on other aspects of the game. Sword and Shield was just the same game they'd been putting out for years, but with less in it and a higher price tag. The final nail in the coffin was discovering Warframe. Exactly how Pokemon lets itself be surpassed by games that are cheap or even free I don't think I'll ever know, but hope Palworld knocks some sense into the Pokemon company.
So glad to see a video like this. I love to see unique visions get rewarded, and I think Palworld is very derivative in a lot of ways, but I feel so underappreciated and underfed as a Pokemon fan that I'm eating up Palworld anyway. I'm having a blast. And at that point, I don't really feel like its a case of "is it ethical to play Palworld?". Its a case of seeing a company actually give me what I want, after years of spending easily thousands of dollars on the Pokemon franchise and seeing the bare minimum they think I deserve in return. I haven't grappled with whether Palworld fully deserves its success or not, but I fully and wholeheartedly believe that Pokemon deserves this failure.
pokemon ain't failing though 😭not even trying to be a pokemon bootlicker here, but everyone's forgetting that pokemon is the *highest grossing franchise in the entire WORLD.* palworld is only scratching at the giant that is the pokemon franchise.
You're on the money my dude. But unfortunately the reality is that Nintendo gets majority of it's Pokemon profits from the card game and other merchandise. The video games realistically mean nothing in that regard. Besides, Scarlet and Violet sold the most copies of any Pokemon game to date. Nintendo knows they can shovel out unfinished slop and we'll lap it up like dogs. Why spend more time and money polishing a game when they apparently don't need to? I love the Pokemon IP as well, but I am having more fun in PalWorld than I have had since Emerald version. Also, the other problem is the Pokemon target audience. The younger kids who like the game don't have any understanding of this problem. They literally won't know about these issues. Parents who buy the games for their kids won't know and won't care. People like us are viewed as whiny babies for complaining about a video game. And people who have jumped ship already don't care because they have emotionally moved on.
I enjoyed Scarlit and Violet because the last pokemon game I played was Black and White. Even with the issues, which I ran into very few. But upon going back to previous games I understood your stance entirely. These games should not be this buggy. Literal billion dollar company with no competitor giving little effort to innovate
Look, I get your point. But omg I hate when ppl use the exp share as an example... Hey spoiler alert, your whole party gets exp when you do anything in Palworld too lol. I believe shared exp should be common practice today. No one wants to spend hours needlessly grinding for no reason.
As an even older Pokémon fan (my first game ever was River Raid or Bobby Goes Home and I started playing Pokémon at the RBY era) it's been hard to excuse the situation and I'm eager to see what's going to happen now, I'm all in for Palworld currently.
“Palworld is nothing like Pokemon and they don’t have the right to sue” “Pokemon should be more like Palworld” Gamers have truly reached a new level of derp. “Pokemon deserves this failure” If they’re nothing alike stop putting them both in the same sentence -.- you’re all just a bunch of manchilds that like the shiny new toy and bash your old one. Nobody would buy Palworld if they didn’t want Pokemon. Now they think they’re making a statement for buying a lazy uninspired copy/paste mix mash of Ark/ Breath of the Wild/ and Pokemon. Yet you all pretend we’re making this shit up… yet you can’t mention it without bringing up the other 3. This isn’t an indie game. This isn’t inspiring. This is going to drive indie developers down a hole they can never get out from. People work for original content that usually never see the light of day. Now here comes flat out plagiarism and it’s a best seller? Now we’re just going to be getting mix mash of previous IPs. Mario but it’s like Botw with Guns Sonic with guns oh wait that’s Shadow… Battle royale style game that’s just Fortnite but with Nickelodeon characters.
I switched to others turn-based combat monster games like Shin Megami Tensei (And persona) after dropping scarlet, and will never look back. The battles are so much more fun and games are so much more polished. Persona 3 just got a remake that's INCREDIBLE. Exactly what I'd wish for in a remake. I feel so bad for Sinnoh fans, looking at what they got with their remake.
My reaction when Sword and Shield came out was similar to SpongeBob when the kids where promised “krabby the clown” but all they got was “cheapy the cheapskate”
A lot of people here are talking about pokemon needs competition, but the thing is there already is. You can find lay literally any of the other monster takers games and give THEM.l your attention and money.
I gave up on pokemon with sword and sheild (haven't bougth anything since). That game taught me never to preorder ANYTHING ever at any point. Been mainly eyeballing the hundred of gen3-5 pokemon hacks that have been getting made. They're so sick. I don't think palworld has anything to do with that though and I've been very confused why they're being compared beyond the design of the 'pals'.
The people who defend pokemon probably don't play real pokemon games. probably casuals or pokemon go players. Ask these ppl what IVs and EVs are, Egg moves? Do they know their stuff? No they don't.
Pokemon NEEDS competition, a drive to actually try, and the moment it comes around fans try to get if taken down because its clearly better than pokemon
I stopped playing after black and white, i didn't play b2/w2,or omega r or alpha s or x and y, but i did play sun and moon years after they came out cause i originally skipped it's release too. After that i stopped again cause i felt pokemon got stagnant
The overall problem is that suits don't have souls, and they have found a formula that makes a reliable profit, and they WILL NOT EVER stray from that formula. The creativity and passion they once had for the series is dead. Back when the Emerald remake hit and they didn't do the Battle Tower, the reason they gave was basically "kids play phone games now". That was the moment I knew it was all going to go downhill. PalWorld gives you a harness that you can use to turn a fire monster into a goddamn flamethrower. Your monsters can manage and maintain your custom built base. This is what Pokemon should be, and will never be. GF has always wanted to us imagine a world where Pokemon replace technology. Detective Pikachu did a wonderful job of showing us this, but they will never give it to us in-game. Then they released for the Switch, and to celebrate a platform upscale, they scaled DOWN the games. Sword/Shield could/should have been incredible, but they were intentionally sabotaged.
So, as an American now living in Japan. Pokemon is still huge here. You'll see them everywhere, city bus, airport, random notification board. Even my local mall has a Pokemon Center store, and it's always has many customers. The point I want to say is that the Japanese society doesn't like new or radical changes. The older generation who still has the power and makes up for the majority of the population. They are VERY conservative when it comes to new or radical changes. They believe in taking the safe route. I feel like Japan is stuck in the year 2000. I believe that also plays a factor into Pokemon games. Us fans are dying for something new and exciting. But the most we got was Legends Arceus, but yet BDSP out sold it (wtf). I myself barely completed Pokémon S&V. I don't have the DLC, because of the quality of the game. But the kids here in Japan still love Pokemon. So maybe pokémon, gamefreak, and nintendo are making or catering the game for them?...idk. just my 2cents on this matter.
nah that cant be it, this is the same console that had zelda ditch its traditional 3d formula for going fully open world and saw great success doing so
Some of us saw the rot setting in WAY earlier than SwSh. For me, it was diamond and pearl. It was the same game I had played since the release of Red and Blue with minimal changes at best. Even the stories are droningly similar with a deviation only coming in Scarlet and Violet.
@@simonsayshello It was when the complacency set in. They had no competition, thier game was hot, so why not keep to the formula? Now we're here, years later, and pokemon has quickly become known for undercooked, formulaic games that only change thier one-off gimmick from entry to entry.
Palworld is like a Big slap to pokemon fans that have been buying 60$ game multiple times and get disappointed multiple times but at least we have a choice now and it will force Gamefreak to Improve their shitty quality 60$ game. With palworld success now, it will not only stop at palworld, Soon there will be no more "Pokemon copy" game, But palworld copy, Other big or indie company will try make new game similiar to palworld, and pokemon will have no choive except to Improve their quality Or they will slowly died because there is no new Gen playing their game anymore In the end, it maybe not good for gamefreak, but its good for Us, gamers that want to buy a game that will not make us regret to spend our money in it
From one lifelong Pokémon fan to another I respectfully disagree. There’s not many things in life that bring me joy and Pokémon is one of those few things that does. Scarlet and Violet isn’t the most optimized of games but GameFreak deserves to be cut some slack. It’s technically their first open world game because Legends Arceus was worked on alongside it. Sword and Shield was over hated and were great games. To argue difficulty with this franchise then you probably should’ve moved on a LONG time ago. Pokémon has never and will never be difficult games. Games don’t need to be difficult to have fun. At what point did games require difficulty to be good??? People wanna think Palworld is gonna kick Pokémon in its ass but it’s literally closer to Ark than Pokémon. Digimon tried and failed to compete. Yo-Kai Watch tried and failed to compete. Every “Pokémon Killer” has and likely always will fail to compete. This is coming from a Digimon fan as well. Palworld was something I was excited for but the community has already started a war that I just ain’t feeling up to supporting a game with such a shitty community. The Pokémon community also has a ton of toxic fuckwads but that’s every fanbase. Palworld’s fanbase seems to be mostly salty old Pokémon fans that will eventually move on to the next “Pokémon Killer”. I’m honestly done with the crybabies in this fanbase. It’s absolutely ridiculous how toxic it is. And AAA vs indie games as a whole is a joke. People thinking indie is better are seriously smoking that copium six pack. The indie games that have blown up are actual fads. Most aren’t even that good on release. Among Us? Really? That’s popular cause of a meme. FNAF is filled with furries and absolute weirdos. The indie fans are mostly real weirdos so I take what they say with a grain of salt. Pokémon isn’t any worse off now. The loud minority that are crying will hopefully just leave the community for good and leave the rest of us to have fun.
I didn't finish Arceus or or SV because they were so buggy. You and I are on the same life timeline as pokemon, and it's an honest shame that they have been releasing these underwhelming cash grab games. I honestly see them doubling down like Blackberry and losing a big chunk of their adult market. At the end of the day you can always sell games to kids that don't know any better or subpar parents that want their kids to leave them alone LOL Hopefully they learn, but I'm not holding my breath because the franchise has so many moving parts other than the game smh and Pokemon fanboys are still a thing LMAO
Lol imagine comparing a kids game to another game that uses elements from other games, tailored for older people and plays on stronger systems. I'm a Pokémon fan and played Palworld because of the hype. It was fun but I can see it dying down. I agree that Pokémon needs to step it up but also be realistic and not compare it to the old Gameboy 2D games
Omg my friend I’m with you 100% and I’m also a life long Pokémon worshipper since the release of red and blue but every single point you have made hits the nail on the head and I hope, instead of just trying to throw a lawsuit at the palword team, they treat it like they have sat on a wasp and up their game to the level it should have always been at! They have half assed their jobs far too long and ripped all their loyal followers clean off knowing we will keep on buying! WAKE THE F UP GAMEFREAK PLEEEEEEASE! Listen to the people that pay your bloody wages!
Pokemon has gone downhill alright. I found out that gamefreak only puts its B team and amateurs on pokemon projects for the most part. The priority is to crank the games out quickly, not make them well or original. You can tell that the developers don't have any passion for it anymore.
that's...not really true? there definitely is passion within game freak as you can see with all of the designs of the region and characters and pokemon, as well as the lore within the series. there's really a lot of creativity and passion you can find in the pokemon games, the problem just comes with the fact game freak doesn't have any time to actually fine tune them and make sure they're bug free.
@@afro025 odd, I absolutely don't see it. Generic landscapes, environments, and conditions. Story is bland. A few Pokemon designs are original while many are simply redesigns(regional variants) or recycled concepts with new types(fire cat starter/grass cat type starter, water turtle starter/grass turtle starter, regional normal bird pokemon to reguonal normal bird pokemon to normal regional bird pokemon to- oh let's give it a fire type this time...) Seriously fan made "fakemon" and fan generated fake gameplay leaks are often more exciting to me these days. The fake legends Celebi videos looked better than real Scarlet and Violet gameplay.
@@rebeccamiller9310 there's countless pokemon in SV that aren't regional variants or recycled concepts of pre-existing pokemon. you can dislike pokemon designs all you want, but it doesn't mean that the developers have lost passion for the series also, comparing a cinematic animated video with the average gameplay of an rpg really isn't a fair comparison. it's like comparing a manga panel to an anime frame.
@@rebeccamiller9310 and yet none of your opinions dictate whether the developers are truly losing passion or not, especially when the franchise rakes in over 20 million sales per generation. nice try
Nah, there's no chance gamefreak will change anything. Their games are just glorified merch ads that you pay for, and more suckers have bought the latest one than ever. The next one will be just as bare-bones and suckers will still buy it, and sprinkle them with 500$ worth of plushies and cards. If you want to enjoy pokemon, just enjoy the fanart and forget about anything official.
Palworld isn’t going to effect pokemon, TemTem had a better chance and was forgotten about when Sword and Sheild came out . Even if people's start leaving Pokémon new people will just take their place
Pokemon has been there for as long as it has, because we fans show up. However, the quality of the releases have gotten bad. Success doesn't incentivize companies to make good games. Only competition can push them to inovate and get quality out!
The Union Circle is an outdated scam of a gimmick that Nintendo and Gamefreak pushed in Scarlet and Violet. Literally Rayquaza, Kyurem, Calyrex, and a Shiny Munchlax, as well as the Palafin evolution, are locked behind it, which itself is locked behind $20 a year for something that Xbox and Playstation allow for free🤬🤬🤬
While Legends Arceus has its fair share of valid issues and criticism, I was more forgiving of it because for the most part, it was uncharted territory for Game Freak. The turn-based system was changed (streamlined), the Pokemon actually attack you so there's a sense of danger while traversing the wilds, and while the art style was mediocre, it was at least different and attempted to do something. Plus, I thought Legends Arceus was going to be more of a "showcase/demo" of what was to come in Scarlet/Violet. Something to hold people for a bit like how Kingdom Hearts 0.2 was basically a demo for Kingdom Hearts 3. Needless to say I was disappointed by Scarlet and Violet not taking any of the good points Legends Arceus made, retroactively making PLA a worse game and me having a somewhat lower opinion on it. I do think Scarlet and Violet are better than Sword and Shield, but not by much. I didn't even bother to buy SV's DLC. If Gen 10 doesn't make substantial changes and improvements on all fronts, I think I'll stick to the spinoff games for the forseeable future. New Pokemon Snap was by far the most fun I had with a Pokemon game on the Switch.
I stopped playing Pokemon because theres no adventure anymore. XY babied you. SunMoon was linear like BW, but there were very few things that made the world feel lived in like those games. Sword/Shield treats you like youve won the league before you get through the 3rd gym. SV LIES to you by telling you its open world, but then I find out im just on a school field trip... That took me out of my immersion immediately.
I love to play Pokemon. I enjoy the franchise. But I absolutely hate the rawr games we get this last few generations. Exception are the Let's go Titles. It was my first time playing Gen 1 or a remake of it. Modders make it better. That's sad but true. That a franchise like this needs help of freelancers to make a game better that just released. I only bought games second hand or for a super rebate. But Scarlet and Violet. I want money for playing this 💩 on an hourly rate. Palworld is still buggy. But it's half the prize early access and a small developer not the biggest franchise our there who could afford anything.
I agree. Pokémon knows they can just slap their Pokémon logo on anything and sell it full price and people will buy it. They’ve been doing this for years now. Most of their new Pokémon don’t even feel like Pokémon. I was always more of a digimon fan but I loved gen 1-4 of Pokémon everything after I just couldn’t enjoy. I still tried though. My last game was the Hawaii one. I didn’t get far before I got fed up. All Nintendo can make is baby games. They don’t care about making something actually rewarding and worth our time they care about making money off us. That’s it. Well I guess it’s not true my last one wasn’t the Hawaii one I tried arceus but was incredibly disappointed that the Pokémon couldn’t follow us. I was disappointed it wasn’t open world. I want my Pokémon out of their pokeprisons. Palworld is the Pokémon game we deserved that Nintendo and game freak won’t give us. The fans know what they want. Pokémon knows what we want. Pretty much since Skyrim came out back in2009-10 people have been begging for a more realistic open world pokemon game. All Nintendo cares about is sueing people’s cool mods and not giving us what we want at all. I’m done. Even digimon came back and remade season one and gave us digimon tri just for the old fans. That’s called caring about your fan base and your creations. Nintendo doesn’t care about Pokémon they just care about owning it and not letting anyone else try to do the same thing. I want Nintendo to learn from this or fall already.
PART 2: th-cam.com/video/5CBnaCYMaHE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vlFo9fx7N4wapy6B
There's a reason why a large contingent of Pokémon fans don't even touch the main series games anymore and instead content themselves with older games, ROM hacks, fan games, or games like Palworld.
Pokemon Unbound has been keepin me very happy
Pokémon fan here and guilty. I beat and played the new main line games but I enjoy the older games (emulated) and Palworld a lot more. You almost had to “force” yourself to like the newer games and it took me playing the older games/Palworld to truly realize that
Lmao so true, life long Pokémon fan here since 99 and still play Emerald multiple times a year. Haven’t touched any other game more than Twice since release with the exceptions of gen 3 gba games.
yeah... i am a pokemon fan who only plays GBA and NDS pokemon games too..
Pokemon infinite fusions exists because of a fan base that FAR outgrew it's love for the franchise.
I struggled to finish scarlet and violet, and legends arceus, and I am a long time pokemaniac. I am just...tired of their lack of giving any form of a damn. This isn't a lack of polish, this is a lack of caring.
Couldn't have summarised it better myself.
I though about buying violet,
but I didnt like the bike concept nor did the boss battle apeal to me!
No hate towards gmod tho, people make some cool stuff there
Legends Arceus is a great game but I'll give Scarlet/Violet is rough, even though I had a fun 80+ hours. Palworlds is super fun though, I'm addicted
Honestly I hope Palworld, pushes Game Freak, to stop messing around and Put real work into there future games.
the pokemon company has gone insane on twitter, pumping out tweet after tweet about the lastest dlc or w/e XD
Problem is, the devs at Japanese Bethesda are bad at coding. Gen 1 is proof of that.
They already put real work work their games. They don't need to change what they're doing.
Guess we also gotta remember palworld is on pc and xbox x which are both more powerfull than the switch. I have little doubt that the switch could run it it'll be at lower performance so will have to see how far the switch cam be pushed for pokemon
@@dinosaurtimeandfunnyvideosyou're the type of people that makes pokémon content on making mediocre unfinished buggy games with terrible graphics
The main thing everyone is realizing from Palworld: we don’t have to be complacent with shit games anymore because now the floodgates of competition are open

Indie games right now are cooking!
Undertale
FNAF
Among Us
Fall Guys
PUBG
Fortnite

Palworld

Absolutely. It's so irritating to see a franchise I care so much about be mistreated like this.
Billion dollar franchise and they still lack the care for their fans
GameFreak is sweating so hard right now. Pokémon Day next month and Palworld is killing it.
No their not, because they know between nostalgia, appealing to kids and having name recognition nothing will ever be able to rival Pokémon
@KiroSP palworld has been popular with the kids tbh. It's not pokemon gta.
Hahaha very well put. A diamond hat Charizard doesnt quite hit the spot
@@Xaytan disagree. The Pokemon models themselves look amazing. It's the environment and switch capabilities that need work.
@@Xaytan nobody in the history of Pokemon has ever played the game for graphics....
@@peterbaumgartner4878 it's successful for the same reason kagura bachi was successful, because of the memes (and the controversy). but once those topics run dry, there's nothing else palworld has that will bring in new players
unlike digimon or yokai watch, palworld *relies* on being seen as a pokemon clone. it can't stand on it's own, it thrives on being in the shadow of pokemon and people making comparisons to it
like, tell me this, if pokemon didn't exist, would palworld exist? because ik for sure that series like dragon quest or digimon or yokai watch still would be franchise even if pokemon wasn't a thing
I just get Pokémon cause I play it and childhood game was moon
"broke me as a fan" is such a sad reality
But at the same time we are being completely priced out of being to access those older games 👀
@@simonsayshello For those who don’t have them you’re 100% correct. I feel bad for the price hikes :/ Thankfully my child self made sure to keep all my old pokémon games safe and accessible 🤣
@@CJ2315 wish i had my old ones. had EVERY release up to black and white, and sisters babysitter decided to steal them along with the gameboy color/advance/sp and ds. was heart breaking. cared more about those than the $200 she took with em.
@@painnmisery2582 oh no :/ I’m so sorry to hear that 😞. i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that you find some good prices for some older games on ebay lol
The next Pokémon game will be compared to Palworld. It is likely currently in production.
One of the issues with Pokémon is that the game never grew up with its audience from the 90s.
I agree with you. Pokémon alienated its own audience. And now it's paying for it. You do not take away features such as the national dex. Game freak does not own the concept of catching monsters and training them. There were games that came before game freak.
The idea that they own a trademark on catching animals is hilarious
You must be doing something right because you randomly showed up on my feed and I just assumed you were a big youtuber with the thumbnail and quality of the start of the video. I had a quick look at your video playlist and your last two videos are definitely an improvement in terms of what is considered a clickable thumbnail.
Enjoyed the video. Likewise I think the pokemon company/gamefreak needs to put more effort into their games. The franchise reeks of laziness right now. They seem content to rake in the money and take no risks.
Good luck with the channel!😅
Ayyyyyy very nice of you to say! The popularity of this video is definitely motivating me to push forward!
I hope this gives rise to more competition. I'd love to see some other monster collector games get revived just to pressure gamefreak.
You know what I hate the most out of the modern Pokemon games: the raid battles. They are essentially pay-to-win content where the difficulty is so ramped up that I honestly don't blame people hacking the best Mons into the game. It's the sequence breaking when you get that massive boost/debuff off and deliver a powerful attack is where i draw the line because the Pokemon takes five to six turns setting up in your face:
- Set up tera barrier
- Removes all debuffs and status effects
- Removes all buffs
- Steals Tera orb energy
- Sets up with the fifth move to boost attack or speed
- Ability effect kicks in
All of this is also eating up your timer as well.
This one clearly knows their stuff
A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.
Hahaha oh man. I felt the exact same queuing for my day 1 release of Sword/Shield
Legends is by far the best Pokémon game of the modem times but still could have been waaaay better! All hail palworld for pushing Pokémon in the right direction….I hope! I reeealllly do pray and hope!
I started to become disenfranchised with pokemon when you could no longer obtain all pkmn as i always aimed to complete the pokdex (by porting over my old pokemon) and catch them all this wasn't the thing which put me off playing altogether
Then I did get pkmn shield though I never finished it and the fact that the games seemed to be getting simpler just put me off them
Last thing I'll add Simon (and I don't have the direct quote or source) but I remember watching a video a whole ago and a game freak insider apparently went on record saying "it doesn't matter what we make (referring to pkmn scarlet/violet) as people will still buy it"
(Oh also the only "new" pokemon game I've really enjoyed is pkmn infinite fusion. Anyone looking for an old pokemon game with a new twist and lots of cool mechanics I'd highly recommend it as it has so much repayablility and the team buildingis insanely fun)
It's the difficulty that puts me off more than anything else. Well put and thanks for stopping by!
Crystal wasn't on the Gameboy advance. It was on the Gameboy color *looks at my copy of it*
True, but maybe he said the wrong thing on accident and meant to say he played it on the Advanced since the GBA could play the GB games lol
@@Foreverbased possibly lol I mean nothing by the correction. I just wish it was for gba lol
Legends Arecus was the format S&V needed to build on.
I couldn't get myself to play S&V past the pokemon league.
arceus was hardly a game. worst $100 or w/e ive ever spent on a game.
@@painnmisery2582 the mainline is averaged around 25 1/2 hours to complete. The full game including side missions is averaged at 78 hours to 100% completion.
Everyone has the right to their own opinion though.
Speak for yourself, I had a blast playing it and hoped for more Pokémon games like it. @painnmisery2582
The only reason Gen 5 "failed" was because of butthurt genwuners.
Change my mind(spoiler, you can't).
Honestly that is the saddest truth about gen 5. People really wanted to use Geodude and zubat for the 5 time in a row
Nothing is "too big to fail," my friend. Just ask Disney.
But yes, they're definitely gonna be getting clowned-on *A LOT* more from now on...
My thing is that palworld feels like what legends was really pushing to be (minus the whole funny guns and slavery thing), and that kinda does hurt since legends had so many fantastic ideas that needed more pushing and fleshing out. For example:
Noble pokemon: an awesome idea for a true boss battle against these ferocious beasts...
You said it best complete and utter mediocrity, Pokémon is an embarrassment for being the highest grossing franchise in history
The best thing is they can't do anything about it. If they win lawsuit, then Digimon and other projects will sue them for intellectual property.
TRUTH
@@simonsayshello how can pal world give us like 50 different difficulty options and game freak can't let us turn off the fu*king exp share? Are they so out of touch or do they just Wanne spite us? Do they hate their adult player base and worry only about the 5 year olds they insist on targeting with their games?
I've been around since Gen 1 and loved Pokemon since, but no, they definitely deserve this. Hopefully the competition leads to them improving, even if it's wishful thinking. I didn't even realize the EXP Share was basically forced on you this gen since I don't have the current system...
7:01 till this day im upset at ORAS for no battle frontier and BDSP for no platinum content. Heck the lets go games didnt have sevii island iirc...
If there was a pokemon game that came out in the last decade that was decent, Palworld would not have taken off like it has.
Haha RIP to the timetables core memory
hey Simon you are not alone on how you feel, I am 38 and since age 12 i loved Pokémon. and after Scarlet my love for it died some of the designs are just stupid make no sense. then in anime we lost Ash, just to have another Pikachu and Charizard be shown in anime by another user.... Game Freaks like oh a mechanic from this gen cant go to another gen because it is what made that gen unique BS. I have not played Pal World yet but i did buy it and will Enjoy it when I get the time.
I'm having more and more fun with Palworld!
Im more excited for old games coming back than i am for any new games coming out, because I know the quality of thousand year door already
In defense of Team Yell, I guess I'm okay with them not really being bad guys and just Marnie stans. I mean, it can't get bigger than destroying the universe and summoning devil Pokemon himself, right?
Hahaha I guess the evil deeds peaked right there
What about Plasma? they used ideology as a mask for world domination. Thats how villains operate in real life, and it was super refreshing
People defending gamefreak like they didn’t just take away the ability to go into buildings in gen 9💀💀
Arceus was what i wanted for years... but god it's boring... Palworld fix the boringness of Arceus.
The Pokemon Company doesn't care about its fans. And their Demographics have always been children. Sad fact is they probably don't care about Palworld and will still release shitty title after shitty title and make more money anyways.
Competition is good for the end consumer. Pokemon franchise had this coming for a looong time.
GameFreak got lazy. Rested on their laurels. Now they are paying for it DEARLY.
Let them sweat.
Pokémon peaked at gen 4, gen 5 was pretty cool and tried new things but they've been so lazy since and the designs are getting worse and worse
I agree. I think peak gameplay was XY, but Pokemon designs peaked at Gen 5
your gonna get hate for this video
but i want to let you know i agree
pokemon has gotten lazy, complacent with knowing each game will sell
PLA...was what gave me hope for SV...and i regret buying SV.....1 year and 2 months and they STILL havent fixed the performance and fps from launch.
they give us excuses instead, "oh switch cant handle it" when xenoblade and Tears of the Kingdom prove them wrong.
i want the original pokemon back. Gen 1 to Gen 5 they were pushing the bar for what 2d is capable of. when a problem came up like cartriage size, THEY FOUND WAYS to make it work. when others said "you cant go further with 2d animation" they proved them wrong
then Gen 6 came, and 3D was...bit rought, but first time with 3d. the story took a huge hit but...ok.
BDSP came out and....didnt do anything wrong per say, but didnt do anything right. a remake with nothing new, when the standard for pokemon remakes has ALWAYS been latest gen graphics, more story, more pokemon, more all. this...lacked
it was the first real clue i had that....pokemon has changed. they no longer care about pushing the bar. they just want the annual release with minimal effort. the very minimal ammount of work input to the game.
then PLA came and said "no, we are still here". sure its bare bones for an open world game, and graphics were poor. but i didnt care. the theme, the color, the refreshing new step for pokemon. this game was all i wanted. i was looking forward to DLC.
....and nothing......
Thanks for watching!
I'm glad pokemon is getting a slap in the face from this. Because they have been so lazy for the longest time.
“Palworld is nothing like Pokemon and they don’t have the right to sue”
“Pokemon should be more like Palworld”
Gamers have truly reached a new level of derp.
“Pokemon deserves this failure”
If they’re nothing alike stop putting them both in the same sentence -.- you’re all just a bunch of manchilds that like the shiny new toy and bash your old one.
Mario but it’s like Botw with Guns
Sonic with guns oh wait that’s Shadow…
Battle royale style game that’s just Fortnite but with Nickelodeon characters.
I've stopped at Arceus. Palworld is so much more fun.
Well said Simon. Please everyone, it's time to wake up
The people who defend pokemon probably don't play real pokemon games. probably casuals or pokemon go players.
Pokemon needs to return to it's roots and stop trying to go for open world...
Lol #stupidopinion
@@pollythadon4176 lol #stupidHashtag
the series peaked on the ds tho
I had no issues with DP other than the pacing of the battles but it definitely started to sink in from then on out
@@simonsayshello It was when the complacency set in. They had no competition, thier game was hot, so why not keep to the formula? Now we're here, years later, and pokemon has quickly become known for undercooked, formulaic games that only change thier one-off gimmick from entry to entry.
Palworld is like a Big slap to pokemon fans that have been buying 60$ game multiple times and get disappointed multiple times
but at least we have a choice now and it will force Gamefreak to Improve their shitty quality 60$ game.
With palworld success now, it will not only stop at palworld, Soon there will be no more "Pokemon copy" game, But palworld copy,
Other big or indie company will try make new game similiar to palworld, and pokemon will have no choive except to Improve their quality
Or they will slowly died because there is no new Gen playing their game anymore
In the end, it maybe not good for gamefreak, but its good for Us, gamers that want to buy a game that will not make us regret to spend our money in it
From one lifelong Pokémon fan to another I respectfully disagree.
Hell yeah man
Pokemon has gone downhill alright.
A few Pokemon designs are original while many are simply redesigns(regional variants) or recycled concepts with new types(fire cat starter/grass cat type starter, water turtle starter/grass turtle starter, regional normal bird pokemon to reguonal normal bird pokemon to normal regional bird pokemon to- oh let's give it a fire type this time...)
Seriously fan made "fakemon" and fan generated fake gameplay leaks are often more exciting to me these days. The fake legends Celebi videos looked better than real Scarlet and Violet gameplay.
@@rebeccamiller9310 there's countless pokemon in SV that aren't regional variants or recycled concepts of pre-existing pokemon. you can dislike pokemon designs all you want, but it doesn't mean that the developers have lost passion for the series
also, comparing a cinematic animated video with the average gameplay of an rpg really isn't a fair comparison. it's like comparing a manga panel to an anime frame.
@@afro025 I am hardly the only one pointing out those and *MANY* other signs of stagnation in pokemon games. Nice try.
Palworld is fun, pokemon hasn't been fun in years. I have played pokemon since the day that blue came out
Pokemon has been there for as long as it has, because we fans show up. However, the quality of the releases have gotten bad.
Success doesn't incentivize companies to make good games.
Only competition can push them to inovate and get quality out!
Brand loyalty is so weird, especially the diehard "My fav corporation could never do anything wrong".
Yes, yes they can, and will.
Not if you have friends 🙃
@@sabieleclipse5799 I'm 34 most of my friends don't play Pokemon anymore
I would agree but for palafin you can evolve it even with or without the 20$ online subscription
@@geomaster9409 You mean catch it in a Tera Raid
@@Elemenace you can do that too as well but also you can evolve palafin with local co-op without online
Nintendo is the Disney of the Japanese gaming industry and, if they're not careful, they'll find themselves suffering the same fate...
