      The injection marks did bother me, but otherwise I liked the case color. I noticed you left off the rubber feet. Did you consider transferring the label from the bottom of the old case? I've seen replacement labels you can just type in the correct information on.

    Finally got around to watching this! The SX-64 style looks beautiful indeed. I have to admit I googled where the keyboard standoff thingies go, too, when I used one of the new cases. Thanks for the "faceless hands" homage and keep the entertaining videos coming! :)

    Turned out great!... .You know what would be sick, a clear plastic top case that shows off the interior of the mainboard, and all the polished up RF Shields, and perhaps even some soft glow LED strip lights for some added visual pizzazz. :-) You could even get the RF shields and other components chromed (like a car bumper) for some real eye popping style!

    Another nice video. I agree with Jan Beta, the SX-64 style colour combo is beautiful. It goes without saying, be sure to preserve that original breadbin case -- it's immaculate. I didn't realize you have a ceramic VIC-II hiding under that heatsink -- another chip to baby. Also, I have to say, I really like your retro computer desk area with the wall cubby shelves -- very tidy!

    Nice build. I would have chose the same SX64 color case as you did. But man I really don't like those artifacts on the bottom case. Well at least it is on the bottom. I have one of the earlier transparent clear "Dallas" cases and it does not have any of those artifacts. It is sitting on my shelf pretty much unused, other then it has a reloaded board in it and brown keys, which looks funny. I am still waiting on the Blue translucent key caps from the seemingly scammers on indiegogo. Hopefully they make good so I can finish the build finally.

  • @Mr_ToR
    @Mr_ToR 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    why use 60fps? youtube can not display your 60fps video in HD30fps. only way to display 30fps is to make it 480p. not everyone can play 60fps. my older mac mini can not play 60fps. also 60 fps uses addition bandwidth without additional effect on quality, it's really unnecessary to make a regular video 60fps. basically you're talking and showing things, 60fps has no effect on anything. wtf? the only advantage of 60fps is maybe in sports such as soccer or hockey or football, when you see lots of players and lost of action, then even 4k has advantage but other than that it's unnecessary. this is almost like forced obsolescence, i don't need to watch your video in 60fps :-( please be considerate of others. you don't have to force me to something totally unnecessary. 30fps HD is good enough already...

    • @RetroRecipes
      @RetroRecipes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your reply. Is this video in 60fps? I was not aware. I appreciate your feedback. Please be assured I am not "forcing you" to watch this at all ;)

    • @Mr_ToR
      @Mr_ToR 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perifractic's Retro Recipes, thnx for replying. When you say "i'm not forcing you" if you're like "it wasn't intentional" then it's ok, but if you're like "you don't have to watch it" then believe me i'm forced to choose between either not watching your channel again or to watch it in SD which feels like i'm being unnecessarily punished for not buying a new computer which can play 60fps. Even if i buy a new pc, i still wouldn't be able to experience the unnecessary 60 fps because i would still have to change my projector with 3.5m diagonal screen. i'm writing this so you can consider people who and how have this 60fps issue. When or if i upgrade my setup ( htpc, display, amplifier etc) to 4k, then 60fps might have an advantage for games or sports. i'm not into sports and i like to play with my bintage stuff like c64s (they are not 60fps) you see, 60fps in HD is totally useless and unnecessary. it's almost like watching SD in 60fps. Original HDTV standard included 60fps but no one in the industry implemented it. Such as tv broadcasters and equipment manufacturers. Now since mobile equipment can do >HD and 60fps, it's just irresponsible to make 60fps HD youtube videos. There is simply no point to it. Well, can youtube play the same 4k video in 60fps and hd in 30fps, i don't know but most of the 4k videos in youtube are in 30fps and i can watch them in HD so i wouldn't know. Just check what other youtubers are doing. But ofcouse, i'm not forcing you to do anything ;-)

      Tonguç Endem Hmm. I export the video in iMovie selecting (1080p) then upload to TH-cam. Nowhere do I see an option about 60fps. Any ideas how I can avoid this or is it just the standard now...

      as i've explained before the HDTV standard included 60fps but no one used it so it's not a new standard it's a very old standard from around year 2000. probably your new phone can capture at high frame rate and probably it's manufacturer wants you to use needlessly twice as much storage space and more needless strain on your device. imovie i believe removed the ability to control in detail your export format in the last version so it's part of that forced obsolescense thing :-) it's a basic consumer level app... just torrent a proper editor. also i'm amazed that how you can not shoot your videos at standard 30fps 1080p, is it apple?
      you see, high frame rate is good if you're going to do a slow-motion clip like when you're jumping into water etc but other than that it's just strain on your cpu, electric bill, battery, internet usage, bandwith, storage space etc etc there really is no real reason to use it unless only if you're using default settings and some company is after forced obsolescence. plus there's the issue of youtube viewers not being able to play 60fps HD videos. devices that can play 4K or higher can play 60fps but it was never a requirement for devices that can play regular old 1080p HD blurays. So the standard now in the sense of general usage is that it's very normal for HD but non 4K, 5k or 8k devices to be only able to only play upto 30fps@1080p. with devices such as blurays or over-the-air or cable HDTV receivers, you would never ever ever experience a 60fps content. So that's standard for you. with 4K, 5k or 8k content, 60fps is somewhat more acceptable since devices that can play those high resolutions play at speeds such as 60fps. youtube basically added 60fps for 4k and higher resolutions. So, if you make a 1080p 60fps video, you're pretty much making a non-standard video :-) there are some videos on youtube creating a hype about 60fps for trend whores but just disregard them. if you take control of things like your camera's and editor's capture/export settings, you'll see there is no real need for 60fps with 720 or 1080.
      look, the reality is that watching your video in 480p@30fps did not make much difference, well maybe i can not distinguish each and every hair on your head separately but other than that it's watchable as same as if it were 8k @ 160fps :-) I just see it as not properly done, that's all. To me it's very similar to videos with bad audio or shaky camera or bad light control etc etc... so basically it's just bad encoding :-)

      Tonguç Endem I shoot on a Note8. I note that my other videos are not 60fps. I'm suspecting an iMovie export glitch. I'm glad 480p worked for you. I hope you enjoy my other videos.

    I'm guessing the isopropyl alcohol has to be missed with water? I tried with the un-diluted product and it took the programming symbols off the front of the keys. What ratio of alcohol to water should I have used please?

      I don't dilute but I do go easy. Just a light wipe, don't rub hard or much. Sorry that happened.
