    His skill is very good, in the dojo, I've trained for over 20 years and unfortunately you can't be this linear on the street, you'll get cleaned. But as far as explosiveness and technic it's very impressive

    I'm not sure if Bertel, Shihan will see this but I have a question.
    Why do you target the foot with gedan barai instead of the inner knee/thigh?
    Thank you osu!

    • @alainmartin7751
      @alainmartin7751 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      because he is moving backward, if he were going forward, then the innner thight (or the groin area) should be the target. I beleive

    I have a question about stomping your steps: Doesn't that transfer your energy down to the floor rather than pushing your energy up and through the strike?

    • @TheAce736
      @TheAce736 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sends your weight and thus the force of your strikes downward in the body and it is reflected back into the body by any ground that doesn't crumble and compress when stomped

    • @TheAce736
      @TheAce736 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That being the force is transferred downwards into the targets body for more affect to organs and more retention in the body instead of through it

    Funakoshi said hand should be around 2 fists away from the leg. So that 1 fist distance is utter bullshit.
    Also, paying for a seminar as a black belt to be shown some debatable technicalities about basic katas, is money thrown out of the window; No matter how good he is as a karate master.

      Disculpas; pero Ud. está muy confundido en que es Karate. Por otro lado, un Karate con mayor inclinación a la defensa personal; no puede tener reglas como las tantas que hay en MMA (que es un deporte). Otra cosa; es que Ud. confunde a alguien que entrena mucho cardiovascular y alguna técnica y que no le importa recibir los primeros golpes (pero si dicha persona lleva algunos KO no va a llegar a viejo; son "carne de cañon" en otras palabras) como los que compiten en MMA, con un practicante de Karate; que normalmente no es un Atleta; es una persona que en algún momento puede necesitar defenderse; pero sobretodo, tendría que pensar en desarrollarse como persona. Yo he vivido en Japón; y le diré que no es que los Japoneses les interese desarrollar peleadores callejeros; sino de formar personas con disciplina.

      @@fxx1 Not sure what you smoking....Connor doesn't train to kill someone, he's a sportsman! Karate as on video is to damage and main not to score points. If you think the cocky Irishman can block one of those punches with his throat! Then maybe TH-cam isn't a place for you.

    When in a real fight with a robber, your belt has no credit. It how you deal with the situation that counts. Life and death is even more challenging.
    I was rob with a Chinese Chopper to my neck... and all the karate I know know was gone when I felt the sharp edge of that Chopper. 😔 But I still 💙💜 and practice karate.... Oss!!!

    You can also tell it would never work in a real fight, his stances are way to Shotokan low. If a boxer stood like he does he would get his Butt kicked in every fight.

      In a fight, or a real, heat of the moment self defense situation?. I know for fact that my traditional training came through for me on the job where I need to defend myself occasionally. I found that I instinctively fell into a lower and wider stance without realizing it and over came my attackers. These encounters only last a few seconds. That being said, Back in my sport fighting days, I agree what you are saying. I stayed with a narrower stance and on the balls of my feet. 🙏🏼 I think Bertel sensei trains and teaches for real, spur of the moment self protection situations.

      Sensei has other possibilities against a boxer 🥊
      My son is a semi-professional boxer 🥊 but but they don’t use the kicks.
      So, if a karatéka 🥋 kicks strongly in the legs it will be difficult for a boxer to fight.
      But in a real fight situation everything can happen.

      If I had to face a boxer I would use my phone to create a bell ringing sound.
      When he walked to his corner I would hit him from behind.

    • @78a67h
      @78a67h 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dududu5189 "Oss" is a very arrogant expression which does not befit the humility and respect which must be displayed toward fellow students, Sempai (Seniors) and especially the Instructor (Sensei). "Oss" is used as casual street language amongst youngsters in Japan and absolutely has no place in the Dojo. Some styles like Wado-Ryu, which put great emphasis on correct Dojo etiquette, completely forbid the use of this expression.
