    Great Video Mark with excellent information to anyone new to the Pimax Crystal and Light.
    I ordered my prescription inserts from VR Optician and am quite happy with them, I also wear progressive glasses and noticed in the Crystal light, I would need to look half way down my glasses to see clearly (which is where in my glasses I look to see things 1 meter away), I did email VR Optician before ordering to ask if they compensated my distance prescription for the 1 meter focal point of the Crystal Light and they responded "yes, they did", so I took a chance and ordered. I am very pleased with the results, everything is perfectly clear in the HMD.
    VR Optician also use the clip on style housings for their prescription inserts. They also have a option when ordering for people who have a "midrange" prescription (those who got their eyes tested for the 1 meter mark), then they would not adapt or convert that prescription.
    All in all, I am very pleased with my VR Optician prescription lenses. 😁

    The Varjo Aero uses 1 to 1.2m as well, so the option to specify the exact strength with VR Optician was amazing (and the ONLY supplier to let you do so). I ordered a very cheap pair of 'inter' glasses using my known values for dioptre strength and astigmatism to check first and used those values. Perfect for us older pilots with zero accommodation.

    I’ve tried several brands but in the end VR Optician has been the best for me. I had a pair for G2 and OG Crystal

    I decided to order inserts just after I received my Crystal Light and used VR Optician in Germany who also supplied me with inserts for my Pico 4 which were fine. I wear varifocal prescription glasses and also have a pair "optimised" for computer use. When ordering for the Pimax I noticed the choice and went with the option of normal "far-sight". Meanwhile, I used my computer glasses until the inserts arrived, noting that I, too, had to raise them a little to get the best effect.
    Once the new inserts arrived, I carried out some tests and found very little difference with any of the options. On balance, I think the inserts provide the best overall experience, followed by my computer glasses, convenience and having slightly more freedom of adjustment with the inserts being the decider. However, with hindsight, and for my own particular circumstances, I could have managed perfectly well with either set of glasses without the inserts.
    I have also purchased a Studioform comfort kit and I am investigating if this makes any difference in respect of visuals - it is, though, definitely more comfortable!
    Hope these comments help others.

    Reducing size and weight of VR goggles should be the biggest priority for manufacturers right now. This headset looks absolutely monstrous.

    VR optician were very good. Fast production and delivery. I went to an optometrist for a 1 metre focal distance prescription. VR lenses are transformative for glasses wearers.

    Mark this video is bang on the money. When I purchased the crystal light I was disappointed because it was very blurry. Although my quest 3 seems okay. I tried my mid distance glasses with it about 1-2 meters and I was blown away it was so clear so I ordered lenses from vr wave. (BTW I’d lost my mid distance prescription so I used an app to work them out) The results with the vr wave are excellent although thry do fog up for a while and I end up removing them to clean several times. Hope this helps others and thank again Mark

    I didn't realise the focal length was shorter on the Pimax. That is valuable information - thanks Mark.
    1 metre is close to being the only part of my vision that doesn't need correction. I will ask my optician to give me a specific value for 1m and get their advice at my next checkup which is aimed to coincide with my purchase of the Crystal Light. Just hope there is something 'off' Pimax for Black Friday. (yeah keep dreaming) 😆

    I'm holding out until i get a 5090 before I get a Pimax Crystal. My 3090 is feeling a bit dated. I've never gotten prescription lenses for any of my VR headsets before. I could probably use them, but my prescription seems to change too often lately. I'll probably end up squinting as usual 😑

    Thanks, Mark. As always, you come through for us. This matter of which prescription to order -- near or disstant -- has been puzzling me for 2-3 years now, but this is the very first video that's addressed it. I'm elderly and wear bifocals, but my accommodating lens inplants th my ophthalmologist gave me (to correct cataracts) give me good vision in both eyes at 1-2 meters. Your information suggests that I won't need corrective lenses for either eye. However, do you recommend blue-light lenses at a minimum?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I find the blue light reduces eye strain for sessions longer than 90 minutes.

    The Pimax didnt come close to fitting my head. Add to that prescription lenses and it was an unworkable solution for the price. The only advice offered by Pimax support was to get a foam spacer which I did for another $30 and while it kinda helped but the tradeoff was far less FOV. Ended up sending it back after a frustrating process. It didnt match the Q3 using Virtual Desktop let alone consider it a full upgrade. One thing nobody mentions is how much of the lens mechanicals are visible peripherally and refracting the many light leaks. The Q3 at a yr old seems more finished of a product. Also seldom mentioned is how much better VDXR is than PimaxXR.

      It is designed to fit very large bowling balls. It is extremely uncomfortable. Poor build quality, especially the thin plastic over the forehead. The foam you receive is completely unsuitable for glasses wearers. Half the population btw. I sent away for the Studioform thicker foam and spacers, and they did not arrive until after the 15 day free return period was finished. I did diy the foam cutting bits off the packaging, but it was horrible. Also purchased the apache strap and prescription lenses and now the headset is pretty good. But i am pissed at vr manufacturers that do not even provide some face foam options for different head sizes, and spacers for glasses wearers. Even the quest 2 did that.

    I’m wondering, if you know what the focal length is for the brand and version of headset you are using, would it not be best to go to an optician, tell them you want to have your measurements done on the exact focal length of the headset and take those measurements to order them lenses?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

    This short focal length is what caused me to have to wear my reading glasses while using this headset. As you may know, it is not easy to get glasses under the headset so I am waiting for some 3rd party items to assist, if I can not get it to work, I will have to sell it.
