    The "Terra Scorcher" was my first Tamiya, got it from my father for my 10th birthday. Thank you for all your nice videos. Greetings from Sweden!

    When i was a kid in the late 80's we couldn't really afford the full-size buggies so I had the Terra Scorcher Jr Mini 4wd - but then 10 years ago my brother picked up a proper one off ebay and restored it for my 30th birthday present, so i was finally able learn the joy(!) of an afternoon cut short by a knackered A5 D:
    i think i got through about 3 of them before finding someone selling little aluminium bracers for them - and now, you can even get 3d-printed steel ones (though god knows which suspension component will break instead)!

    Only just seen this vid, my first car was a thunder shot my folks got me for Christmas when I was 9. I spent all day building it. I’m 44 now my collection has expanded and the T-shot still runs! It’s got loads of upgrades inc brushless, and goes like stink!

    Cool video, i started my RC'ing with the best looking of the 4, yes thats right the Thunder Dragon!!!, LOL, there is a trick to get around the A5 part breaking, i remember i turned a thin piece of metal into a bulk head saver joining the 2 wish bone screws together.

    The flashbacks I'm having from my childhood after seeing a Thunder Dragon again is nuts! It was my first RC car and yes... it was a tank to drive but I had so many fun hours breaking/fixing it made it all worth it! :)
    Keep up the great work with the videos mate!

      Same here. Thunder Dragon was my first non-kmart rc. A real kit to put together. Taught me a lot about sway bars and alignment and rotational mass and gearing. When I took the 15 tooth pinion off and put a 17 tooth on, all the neighborhood kids paid respect. That was back when 1200mah was all you had. 10 minutes tops...

    OMG! after my traxxas Sledgehamer I had a Terra Scorcher, I loved that buggy. It was the kit that first took me to RC racing. I did OK, but it was not up to the racing standard. But that kit was great. It looked amazing. I loved it

    I recall racing against one of these cars back when I had my Optima. It looked a little clumsy but who can blame us kids back then. Not knowing proper set up. It was always about the fun and excitement of turning laps. Thank you for sharing. LIKED and SUBSCRIBED

    Good vid. And yeah, my non-biased opinion about the Thundershot actually agrees with your biased - it’s really one of the best looking Tamiyas around. I would say, not the most beautiful, and not ‘spot on’ like the Terra Scorcher (which almost is too ‘spot on’ just like the new Neo Scorcher) but it has soooo much character and it is it’s own. And one of the few ‘space designs’ that actually succeded. Miss mine. But it was a second hand and it financed my Boomerang kit. Hope Tamiya will re-release either the Thundershot (again) or the Terra Scorcher. Would love to build ‘my own’ brand new kit of both. And well, the two others aren’t really imposters (though I know you said it with a blink) but more like spin-offs. And the Fire definitely got character too 🙃

    today I started to restore my Thunder Shot, my girlfriend's Christmas present for Christmas 1989🥰🥰: one wheel did not turn, I disassembled it and found the triangular seat of the rim broken into three parts☹️ ... There’s a new addition to this family of vehicles called the Saint Dragon. I’d love to hear your opinions on it’s 2021 release and maybe some comparisons with other models. Also, I noticed your warning about the A5 part. I’ve heard that there’s a fix in the form of an A5 support brace. I’m hoping you would know if it’s necessary for the Saint Dragon or upcoming 2022 Thunder Shot and how to get it. Cheers!

    Well-done. Fire Dragon is my favorite, aesthetically.
    Earlier in the video, you said these replaced the aging Hotshot. I think it would be more accurate to say it replaced the aging Hotshot *family*. (Hotshot, Boomerang, Bigwig, Super Shot)

    • @TAMIYALegends
      @TAMIYALegends  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Bailey
      It’s the weak spot on these chassis’s, it’s a plastic front brace that holds the lower arms on. One decent hit on it and it’s broke but you can buy a metal plate for it now off eBay that cures the issue 🤩👊🏻
