no, market people do that, sales people do that, big shareholders do that. engineers are too busy trying to fit the features they received in the beginning of the project, AND the new ones the other guys come up with every fucking week into the production budget while also preventing lawsuits in the future.
This laptop would be great for programming! Main screen used to display VS code /Sublime, then the lower screen to display consoles for front end and backend! Would be an awesome combo

Hey. Don't knock on this idea of ASUS. This is the type of innovation that we have been missing in the laptop/notebook space. Seriously, these companies have spent the last 10 years doing zero real innovation and just making slightly thinner devices that they charge twice as much for. The cell phone industry is facing the same problem (which is killing sales) and the CPU sector was as well until AMD crashed the zero-innovation money-milking party.

If you make anomation or editing, you can put animation graph with curves, or keys to the bottom screen. Or add palettes in 3ds max or any other program.
Cool for architects, photographers and designers, so you can have your main tools and layers on the second screen and your work in full screen on the main one!
it helps when they have an entire editing team back home ready to edit every video they receive where as a lot of smaller channels their editors might be traveling with them.
8 Core HK Processor and RTX 2060 with that dual screen setup would be the ultimate portable game streaming rig. Game on the main screen, OBS and Twitch chat on the bottom side by side would be awesome.
I would say: Asus go back to the drawingboard. Looking down at a display is terrible!!! Neck fatigue guaranteed. Why did engineers and painters use drawingboards and easels for ages in stead of a table? -because you didn't have to look down all the time and stress your neck. This is also the problem with tablets and smartphone: you either have to look down, or hold it in front of you, either your arms or your neck gets tired, and most likely both.
@@sasjadevries You're talking about a issue with all laptops though, you are always gonna have your neck bent down. Unless your eyes can't move, your normal neck bend for a laptop would still see the bottom screen (hint: move your eyes down instead of your neck). I get that it is better to not have your neck bent for various reasons but majority of people will have there neck bent to some extent with a laptop. Or just make sure you're at a standing desk anytime you use a laptop I guess and your issue should be solved.
eh - if it was a main-use display, I would agree with you, but it's a reference display/tool display - if you're angling your head down at it, that's more a need to retrain yourself (same 'head down' could be used to reference people who don't touch-type - since they have to spend more time angled down, where as touch typers very rarely need to reference down, except when relocating on the keyboard - and usually not even then) I should note - that a product like this is actually something more in line with what I need for my projects on the mobility end - considering almost everything I use a computer for requires dual display for efficacy purposes (so most current mobile options are fairly limited, and this would be nice)

Because let's face it, if someone is doing any kind of product development they have multiple monitors at there main work space and will always get annoyed when they have to do work outside the main space. Those newish mobile lcd screen that exist not are nice but it's something extra to carry and charge. I just hope there are gonna be some reasonable prices version(obviously specs would be lower but that's fine for my work)
As a freelance web developer this is very helpful. I hate to bring a secondary monitor everywhere I go. I will definitely buy the pro version. Main Screen: IDE, live preview(can be at the bottom too) Sec. Screen: terminal, stockoverflow, etc.

It's 2022, I just rediscovered this video, and still want this laptop. I love how it isn't over engineered with unnecessary software to handle the extra screen. I wonder if there's a newer model.
I've had this one for 2 years, just replaced the battery today and cleaned it now good as new. There is also a newer model that lifts the secondary screen and has a better graphics card, but that means that the older model is much cheaper than it was before, so more people can afford it (especially if second hand)
Now with Ubuntu running with Windows, I have no more dependency on Mac OS, Mac OS was the main reason for buing apple, now with Ubuntu and this zenbook, no reason for have an apple to work with programing, you can also game on it, jezz

I know right, that's what I thought too. It's so cool for traveling. If you have got it, can you say something about battery life? I read only up to 5 hours with the Pro which means probably just 4,5 hours or less.
The second screen would be so good for music production. Like you could put your plugins down there and have your playlist or piano roll on the main screen. 👌
I like the 2020 Apple Macbook, it has LCD screen display in each mechanical keys on the keyboard, even the back panel has lcd display, the bottom of the laptop has amoled display. It has 1000mah battery making it superlightweight. It also doesn't turn on so you don't need to worry about battery draining.
Can totally see the 2nd or 3rd Gen of this product to have a folding display at the hinge... giving a seamless experience throughout using just a single screen.

@@ynthrepic You either set it to disable the touchscreen sensors while using the pen, or you use an artist glove. It's not really a problem.
@@ynthrepic some devices already have "palm rejection" where it only registers a point and not a large surface like the side of your hand.

Would be nice if the screens were identical in colour accuracy, reproduction and brightness. It's also weird how one is matte and one is glossy. If the screens were identical it would be so much more immersive.

@@1lubo1 i just stick something one inch thick under the back. Works out perfect for writing with the pen. And i've done a tonne of math equations, hours worth already.
This might just be the perfect laptop for me, as an audio engineer using Studio One, that bottom screen would probably work so perfectly with the slider window.

It's 2022, I just rediscovered this video, and still want this laptop. I love how it isn't over engineered with unnecessary software to handle the extra screen. I wonder if there's a newer model.
I've had this one for 2 years, just replaced the battery today and cleaned it now good as new. There is also a newer model that lifts the secondary screen and has a better graphics card, but that means that the older model is much cheaper than it was before, so more people can afford it (especially if second hand)

Now with Ubuntu running with Windows, I have no more dependency on Mac OS, Mac OS was the main reason for buing apple, now with Ubuntu and this zenbook, no reason for have an apple to work with programing, you can also game on it, jezz

i think, with the dual switchable gpu and if they provide a way to turn off the second screen, the battery life wouldnt be that much of a problem

As a music producer, this is amazing, I can have the DAW on the main screen and the mixer on the bottom one, I'm going to buy this.
I know right, that's what I thought too. It's so cool for traveling. If you have got it, can you say something about battery life? I read only up to 5 hours with the Pro which means probably just 4,5 hours or less.

I like the 2020 Apple Macbook, it has LCD screen display in each mechanical keys on the keyboard, even the back panel has lcd display, the bottom of the laptop has amoled display. It has 1000mah battery making it superlightweight. It also doesn't turn on so you don't need to worry about battery draining.
