So glad I found this video. I started leaking oil bad by CCV, then a lot of drivers on trucker report said that oftentimes it is only the gasket when Volvo tries to get you to buy the whole CCV which is $400-$500.
I went to Volvo and bought that same square gasket from Volvo for $17.
Now I just need to figure out these hard starts I have and the mysterious cold coolant leak.

Robert Payton on the coolant leak I had when sitting and leaking like a stuck pig I pressure tested it and couldn’t see anything. Used dye and was able to find a pin hole crack in the radiator on one and a failing water pump on the other. And as far as hard starts I’ve seen everything from an open primer push button that was sucking in air to cracked injector cups. If you could give specifics I may be able to help you. I have 32 of these Volvo’s and anything that can go wrong has

8526 Productions Hi. I fixed the oil separator leak by replacing square plastic gasket between it and engine. As far as the leaks go with coolant, I may have found the issue with that, as well.
The hard start surprisingly hasn’t happened much, but I have found a local mechanic who handles fleets of trucks and does work on mine on the side, and he cleaned the fuel lines, so hopefully that was part of the issue.
It might also be kill switch on batteries or ignition switch, loose wire etc. But it has worked fine outside of trying to start in freezing weather after sitting a weekend.

Did that help at all? I ask because that broken gasket doesn't explain how it got all of that oil in it in the first place all that oil came from the blowby tube.

anther issue that filter he is working on recycles the oil that it catches and puts it back in the oil pan so all that gum cutter that he is loading up inside that filter will end up in the pan

I ask because I had a real bad oil out the blowby with no loss of power. This is what we figured it out to be

More then likely you just need to replace the gasket, however without seeing I’m not sure. But it is deff cheaper to replace the gasket first

Never ever use metal brush on aluminium parts, specially on gasket seats….

nigel ramroop it really just depends, I’ve replaced about 7 so far this year on different trucks but it’s always that gasket that fails. You’ll know if you look on drivers side and it’s a good bit of oil around it
