This video helped me realize that ripping packs was basically for TH-camrs. I started to get extremely discouraged about not hitting "chase cards" and how expensive buying packs started to get. Now I research the sets and buy what I like. Rip a couple packs here and there for fun but not the main source for card collecting.
This is the way! Opening packs is fun, but buying singles is always more cost efficient in the long run. My strategy (despite being a TH-camr): 1 booster box + 1 elite trainer box per set for opening packs and then buying the remaining cards as singles. In my experience, this has been the cheapest and most fun way to master sets. Happy collecting!
I bought my son a pack and now im back in the game after 20 years learning how to battle lol Thanks for the helpful video. Ill likely be going for a booster pack sometime soon at my local card shop haha
Just make sure to get sleeved boosters or blister packs instead of loose packs! Happy collecting and I hope you and your son pull some 🔥 from the packs. 😊
I got back into it 20+ years after the good 'ole "mom who throws toys away" arc when I was a kid. I set a goal that I wanted to complete the entire pokedex, all 1025 of them. I kept buying bulk for like €20 online, then taking what I needed and reselling it for the same price (or sometimes even a profit). After I got almost all Pokemon I set a goal that I wanted to upgrade every card to either a V, GX, EX or full art. Found some real cheap ones online over time. That's great to hear and welcome back to the hobby! 😊 It's true, if you spend some time researching you can find many amazing card for almost nothing and it makes for a great collection. Also, that idea of completing the entire Pokedex is super cool! 🔥

I'm glad you liked it! 😊 I do believe that's the right way to do it and is exactly what has kept my passion for the hobby high for decades. Happy collecting!
One of the only videos i've watched that actually talked about budget. I'm trying to collect the Japanese 151 set right now as a way to get back into it because I really love the artwork on those cards, and I found myself in a place of "wait a minute, If I'm able to genuinely just buy 1000 packs at my local pokemon shop, what's to stop me from just essentially finishing the set all at once and blow all my money." No one talks about budget in any of these videos, great job man
151 is really an amazing set(!) but chasing cards just from pack openings is usually a money sink. I'm glad you learned something from this one and I do have 2 more videos about "collecting on a budget" that you might want to check out! 😊 Thank you for your kind words and for watching! 😊
A budget is what makes it fun. Its easy to just buy the sets if you have the cash, so achieving whatever your goal is by 'only' spending $50 a month or whatever it is makes it that little bit more interesting!
I used to collect MTG a long time ago and have been thinking about picking up Pokemon, as I've always been interested. I was skeptical when I clicked the link to watch but this was actually extremely informative and helpful. Thank you very much for this video!
Thank you for giving my content a chance! I'm glad you found it helpful. I collect MTG, as well, but Pokemon always has a special place in my heart as my first TCG. It's also a great time to collect with lots of quality sets coming out one after the other. Happy collecting!
played pkmn videogames all my life (28 yo) but never got into the TGC. this week I'm starting my collecting journey. incredibly solid video, gained a sub!
Welcome to the TCG hobby and thank you for subscribing! Hope you enjoy it just as much as I do. Take it slow, check out different cards and have lots of fun. Happy collecting!
Im not a beginner but i like to check out these kinda videos sometimes to see what they have to say. This is probably the best beginner guide video ive seen!
Thank you so much! 😊 That's certainly true for sealed products & singles if your store has competitive prices! I love buying from my LGS myself and do so whenever possible. Happy collecting!
I've came back to pokemon TCG after 18 years. I have some 1st edition cards, I've been playing duels a lot with friends back when I was kid. Thank you for your guide, I will for sure use your tips to get back to my pokemon journey again :D
Hey, I've seen some others comments say the same thing, but I just want to say that this video has helped me a lot in getting back to Pokemon card collecting. I used to collect a lot as a kid, and I have always been demotivated to begin collecting again as I haven't been in the Pokemon scene for about a decade now. Thank you, I'm going to go to the store right now and see what I can find!
I'm super glad you enjoyed the video and welcome back to the hobby! 😊 Now is a great time to be a Pokemon collector and I hope your store has lots of cool cards for you to check out. Happy collecting and thank you for your comment!
I started back in July, I never got into collecting as a kid as I grew up not having any $ although I’ve been a pokemon fan since Gen 1. Now i have a a little binder and have gotten into looking for cards I like (I call them The Cuties). Good luck to you on your epic adventure!
Thank you, Julius! It's been a week since I started my Pokémon TCG collection. After dozens of videos, yours was the only one with really helpful tips and reliable information. Hi from Brazil.
I have just started out collecting again. I’ve just bought my first 151 box as I want to try and complete the set. Your video was the best I’ve seen about returning to collect pokemon cards :) thanks for the very informative video
Thank you for your kind words! 😊 151 is an absolute blast to complete or master and one of my favorite releases of all time. Glad to be helpful. Happy collecting!
I was never into Pokémon, the video game or TCG. Any tcg for that matter, but I have a friend who loves both. A month ago we went to a card show and I was like you know what, I’ll buy a few packs and scan them and see if I get any cards that are worth anything. I got some good stuff and made my money back and I was hooked on buying packs just to open and see if I got any good pulls. Then one day my friend was like, we should play. And I was like idk how, I’ve just been buying them to see if I can make money. So he bought me a starter deck and within 30 minutes we were playing. That changed how I thought about buying cards and everything in general. It was so much fun and now I find myself buying with cards that’ll benefit my deck. I’m in the middle of trying to build a deck from scratch and it’s hard and I suck, but it’s genuinely so much fun
Welcome to the hobby and thank you for sharing your story! 😊 I started playing the TCG when the old Gameboy Color Pokemon TCG game came out and played through that more times than I can count. I completely agree with you that being a player brings a whole new appreciation for the cards and deck building is super fun!! Enjoy your cards and your decks and no worries, you'll be great at it in no time!
0:43 I agree with your first tip: Collect what you enjoy. Simple, but true. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. Thank you for a wealth of knowledge! This new collector appreciates you 😊
I had to pause this video at 4:49 to say whoever is coming to the comments-yes its worth watching i stopped collecting 22 years ago but i have these extremely rare first generation cards
Just bought an elite trainer box for shrouded fable excited to collect again on a casual level. Subbed 😊 love your advice too on just doing and collecting what you love.
Welcome back to the hobby and thank! 😊 Oh, I love some of the Shrouded Fable full arts and the set is a really good choice for a returning collector. As long as you have fun opening packs and getting cards you enjoy looking at, you're doing it right. Happy collecting!
Honestly at first I was a bit skeptical because of the length of the video but at the end I watched it till the last second. And It was worth it. I really appreciated the contents and the passion of this guy. Keep spreading Pokémon positivity:)
I figured step one was walk into a card shop that sells pack for market (3.99) and then pick some pretty art and go wild 😂😂😂 literally how i have a binder started on silver tempest and obby flames. Saw lugia, saw charizard. Works for me!
thanks man, just started getting back into collecting. I fallen out of love with cards collecting when mine got stolen about a decade ago. but i got the itch back with 151.
Welcome back to the hobby! 😊 151 is such a great set and has done wonders to the Pokemon community, I think. So many returning collectors who bring appreciation for the cards. Happy collecting!
I'm glad someone watched until the end! 😄 Welcome back to the hobby! It's a great time to return to Pokemon, and I hope you can grow a good collection of Pocket monsters!
Thank you so much for this video!! Ive been a Pokemon fan since Day 1 and used to collect cards as a kid in the 90s/'00s. Just recently, ive started to become passionate about investing/collecting Pokemon cards and wanted to jump in! Your video is a perfect refresher & introduction to the collecting hobby for beginners. Youve got me subscribed!
Been having this inkling of wanting to start collecting something as I’ve never done this. This video is an AMAZING source on info and great starting point for anyone who is thinking about getting into the hobby. And will be my go to video i will recommend to people who also want to start getting into collecting cards. personally im thinking of starting with collecting a master set. And having a side binder with all the foil cards (if it is possible to get every single card in a set foil). And make it a monthly hobby expense as i try to master a full set :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 Mastering a set is so fun but please be careful with buying packs. Check out my "how to save money on Pokemon cards" video to see why I always recommend buying singles first. If mastering a set is you goal, start with a booster box and an elite trainer box and then see how many cards are missing. Good luck on your master set and happy collecting!
This is a fantastic guide! I'm glad the algorithm recommended you to me. The clear effort you put into this helpful video payed off and I learned a bunch in just like 20 minutes haha. I'll keep all of your tips in mind as I progress through this hobby :)
What a great and easy video for beginners! I've been collecting since I was real small, with some pauses here and there, and now I'm back more obsessed than ever (my personal goal is to have a card of each Pokemon and their varying forms). I even have that same Charizard card as you have, beat up and bent, but it's still a prized possession of mine. I hope both beginners and veterans sees this video, because I needed to see this too to boost my knowledge, aaaand I needed to hear "just buy the single", because I have been hunting a secret rare card like a lottery addict for at least 2 months now. Will totally check out more from you!
I'm really glad you could learn something! 😊 Oh yeah, been there...done that. "Chase cards" are an awful money sink and a quick way into a gambling addiction. Honestly, just buy the single and you get to enjoy the card much sooner than trying to pull it! Happy collecting and thank you for your comment!
I probably started collecting in 2000 or 2001 when I was at school but stopped after only a few years. I’ve recently decided to start again and I’ve decided to collect the SV 151 set because it’s so nostalgic to me. So I agree entirely with your point 1!
Legit the best video I have seen so far to help getting back into it. I sold my old collection a few years ago when I was on hard times, and it’s a huge regret I hold :(. So, this year I decided to get back into it but found all the old cards I remember are so expensive. Trying to get into the newer stuff but it’s been overwhelming. This helped!! I am starting to collect by set to focus purchasing on a mid range set: Crown Zenith. 151 is tempting but again very expensive. The budget tip was a good idea tho so maybe I can start setting aside to get some of the 151 cards a little at a time. :). Thanks again!!
Welcome back to the hobby! 😊 Don't feel bad for selling your old collection though...mine was stolen so at least you got some money out of yours at all. I love Crown Zenith although 151 is in my top 3 of modern sets. Check out my video on "how to save money on Pokemon cards" if you want more budgeting and money-saving tips! Happy collecting!
This is such a great video! I am just starting to collect for the first time and of course I feel a little overwhelmed. Most of the other “beginner videos” I’ve watched immediately start throwing out all kinds of terms and info that a true beginner like me would never know. So your video is a blessing because I finally feel like I’m understanding everything! Thank you 😊
Thank you very much! 😊 Yes, I completely understand feeling overwhelmed by all of it so my goal was to start from the very basics. I'm glad it helped and if you have any questions, let me know. Happy collecting and welcome to the hobby! 🔥
I used to collect cards when I was young, and am now getting interested in Pokemon again. I think the Japanese cards are really cool, so to start I've ordered some cards that i just like the artwork of. Thanks for this video, very informative.
Thank you and welcome back to the hobby! Japanese cards are super high quality and often much cheaper than English ones. Hope you love your cards. Happy collecting!
I have been collecting again since a year and I can say that this video really would have helped me a lot back then. And even now it is a good reminder and nice tips! Great video :D
I’m wanting to get back into the hobby after like 20 years and this is just the video I needed I think, thanks! Already have a binder coming in and will need sleeves next. Think I’ll try an Elite trainer box and go from there.
Do it! It's a great time to be a Pokemon TCG collector and there are lots of great, affordable products out there. I actually released a video on "how to collect Pokemon cards for cheap" if you want to watch that. Happy collecting!
I have recently been getting back into collecting cards just for the fun of it. I bought a Vivid voltage booster box as my first ever booster box to give me a jump start.
This is a great video! I appreciate how you go over the points again at the end, and also that you clarify the types of collectors. I feel that is often a point that is often overlooked.
Thank you for your comment! 😊 Agreed, with so many options and products out there, I think it's important to decide what interests you most and what your personal collection goals are.
Amazing video! I really want to collect cards again like I did when I was younger and got cards after the weekly target trips, I used to have two tins of XY cards with my favourite Mega Gardevior EX card being binned by my own idiocy when moving a few years back 😭
Thank you! Don't worry, now is a great time to get back to Pokemon collecting. :-) Start out small and grow your collection from there. Check out TCGPlayer (link in the video description) if you want to buy the Mega Gardevior EX single. 😊 Happy collecting!
Thank you very much! You've been so helpfull. My GF and I, we've been all night up looking for information. You were the one that helped us understand a lot more about this world of trading cards :)
Welcome to the hobby and I am glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 I hope you guys have a great time collecting. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'm happy to make a video on that soon. Happy collecting!
Nice video! I'm one of those people that started collecting again after a big pause. I'm a collector/seller/investor/player I'm doing also TH-cam videos with a friend and I think that this video it's really nice because you spoke about all the most important things!
I really liked your video. I have recently started looking at this hobby due to the excitement of YT videos. I am trying not to get sucked in but I feel Resistance is Futile! I am now trying to decide on a set to collect and really prefer the more cartoonish characters. Would you say that Paldean Fates is the best for cartoonish characters? I like the bright colors and the shiny stars!
I simply love art and Pokemon is art at its finest in my eyes..i enjoy the characters with powers and bios.. I've always thought Pokemon was and is a cool concept..im recently stepping back in to collecting i dont care about money as far as gaining it i just like having cool cards to admire..this is a great video and the help i needed thank you!
Welcome back to the hobby! You're approaching it the right way and yes, the small bios are definitely an underrated aspect of the cards! Just start small and go from there. Check out my "how to save money on Pokemon cards" if you want to do so on a budget. Happy collecting!
I knew it you have so much German stuff and when you say Julius or Kleinanzeigen it sound German. Thank for your video it was a pleasure to watch this kind of videos. One of the important things into collecting are for me to change bulk for new product or to trade because I have to possibly to trade in my area
Thank you for your kind words! (-: Oh absolutely, if you get the chance to trade, do it! That's one of my favorite ways of acquiring new cards. Happy collecting!
thank you so much for explaining everything, im new trying to understand by myself and there is so many things to know that i get overwellming.... thanks from a new follower from colombia keep growing your channel
I just started to buy a couple of Elite Trainer Boxes. Im very blessed that a Trading Card Shop has opened 5 Minutes from my home (it was pretty hard to reach stores likes this when i was in school in the Gymnasium). It is just a special kind of feeling to open boosters again.
Good choice! Ripping boosters is A LOT of fun but make sure you spend your money wisely and don't fall too deep into gambling. Happy collecting and thank you for watching! 😊
I'm glad you liked it! It's a great time to be a Pokemon collector (again) and if you are coming back after a long time, you might enjoy the 151 set. Happy collecting!
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm just now getting into collecting Pokémon and I'm really enjoying it. I started working on 2 sets which is Lost Origins and Twilight Masquerade currently. Im subbed with notifications on! 🙏
Thank you very much and welcome to the hobby! 😊 Two very cool sets with great artwork all around. Good choices! As to Halloween sets: They are usually reprints of regular set cards with a Halloween stamp on them. Nothing special for collectors but great products to hand out to kids and get them interested in the hobby. Happy collecting!
this is what i have been looking i am going to restart my hobby after 20 years i was kinda outta loop but your video really helped me i am planning to buy this one Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet-Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box i am mostly looking for original pokemon from my childhood days
This was genuinely such a helpful video. I’ve just been getting back into the hobby after quite a few years and your insights and tips are incredibly useful. Thank you!
This video was beneficial. I collected the original base set, jungle and fossil (complete) back when they first came out. My love of Pokemon cards has developed lately, but I don't want to chase all these crazy sets, but I have a love, and that's Sylveon, so I've decided I'm going to collect Sylveon cards. I'll admit I miss the thrill of opening boosters and may dabble occasionally, but I'm generally more interested in any sets containing Sylveon or a Mimikyu. Admittedly, I'm happy to pay a little more and fair prices on nicer or rarer graded Sylveon cards because there aren't that many, but for the more common ones, I'm happy with a nice clean raw card.
That's a really good and healthy approach to collecting! Good luck with your Sylveon collection! There will be a new Eeveelutions set coming out in 2025 so I'm sure you'll enjoy that one. Happy collecting!
Wow beautiful video and great advice. Thank you, this was very helpful. A lot of what you said I already know or go by BUT sometimes you need to hear it again! 😊
Very cool man. I stopped collecting Pokemon cards around neo genesis when I was a kid so Ive been working to get cards i loved in the base set series and some neo genesis. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you! 😊 I love vintage sets myself and am trying to finish some of the ones I missed around 2006-2008. Happy collecting and welcome back to the hobby!
I mostly wanted to finish the 151 set and I can def resonate with buying singles when it comes to the rarer cards. Buying packs just for them got outrageous due to the likelihood of getting them.
I believe there is a good middle ground in buying one or two sealed boxes (e.g. a booster box + 1 ETB) per set and getting the remaining cards as singles. This way you can enjoy the pack-ripping aspect and get to complete the set relatively cheaply. Happy collecting! 😊
Thank you for this guide! It's not as tricky as it first appears. Opened my first few packs in like 20 years and pulled some cool full card holos - the art is so awesome these days. Sleeves and top loaders on the way! There is a Pokemon vending machine in a grocery store like a mile away, it's so convenient (rent is already paid, don't worry) 😂.
Welcome back to the hobby then and congrats on the pulls! Ah, the vending machines...if they have good packs they're gold, but I recommend not gambling on the mystery boxes or "mystery graded card" bundles. 😄 Happy collecting!
@@JuliusCollects Thank you for the welcome! It's like an actual legit Nintendo licensed one - I think only a few states in the US have them. I was able to get a cool lil Paldean Fates booster box from it.
They are the real ones then, unlike those in Vegas with "PSA graded mystery boxes" in them... Just make sure to compare prices before you buy! Watch my video on "how to check prices for Pokemon cards", if you want to see how I do it. Happy collecting!
This video was awesome man! I used to collect when i was 12, since then I’ve been on and off in a “pokemon card phase”. Apparently im in one again cause i wanna collect, but the thing i have clearly been missing is a goal. I think mine will be to just collect all cards of my favorite pokemon Umbreon :D
Thank you and welcome back to the hobby! 😊 That sounds like a great goal and Umbreon has LOTS of cool cards! Check out my newest video (Combined Powers Premium Collection) and you'll see one of my favorite boxed sets of the Umbreon GX in it. Good luck on your collection!
i love your attitude! Ive been on a little kick getting into pokemon cards again after i went through my childhood binders again and realizing i have some really good cards in there. I also appreciate a video from a european collector since most of the english TCG content creators online are american and just talk about walmart and costco and stores we dont really have here. Hearing about cardmarket being a reputable site for us europeans is definitely something i will keep in mind! Question: Whats your experience with grading cards with companies like PSA and CGC when shipping back and forth to America can be pretty risky and expensive?
Welcome back to the hobby and thank you for your kind words! Opening old binders is always the best. 😁 As to your question: I have never had any issues with sending graded cards to the states and back. However, be prepared for it to take quite a while and yes, customs etc. can be expensive. I personally only grade cards in bulk while I'm in the states and don't send them from Europe at all. If you have multiple 1000$+ cards, I would recommend either going through a 3rd party service (people who send it in for you and know the processes very well) or go there in person. E..g if you have a 10,000$+ card, like a first edition or similar, it's much cheaper and safer to travel to PSA personally. 2. Option: Depending on your goal (resale value or conservation of cards), you could also choose a European grading service instead. I have a video planned on grading so that might be interesting for you. Hope this helps! Happy collecting!
Just got back into collecting after like 20 years (with the exception of purchasing a cosmic eclipse pack in 2020). Thought would be a good idea to start with collecting cosmic eclipse cards but it seems quiet difficult to get my hands on them. This was a really helpful video thank you
Welcome back to the hobby! I'm glad it helped. 😊 Older sets like Cosmic Eclipse aren't printed anymore so they are harder to get and a bit more expensive than others. If you like that specific set, watch my "Charizard UPC Opening" video that shows you a currently available product that still has them. Happy collecting!
Very nice video coming back into the hobby after baseset days . Came back officially in 2022 but now have a formidable sealed going . 24 ES etbs among much more things . I really enjoyed the video .
Thank you for your kind words and welcome back to the hobby! 😊 It's a great time to be a Pokemon collector and 24 ETBs sounds like you went all in on Evolving Skies! Wish I had this many boxes but they were nowhere to be found around here. 😄
I had all of the cards from the first set. It's like 20 years later and I was looking at these again for some reason, maybe nostalgia, but I wasn't into the pokemon after gen 1. This Scarlet & Violet 151 set looks perfect but I'm like 1 year - 6 months late to have gotten them in the store. RIP lol
It's never too late to start collecting! You can still buy plenty of 151 products online and in stores and there are constant reprints every few months. Check out my video on "saving money on Pokemon cards" to see where to get them without paying an arm and a leg for them. And yes, 151 is absolutely amazing! Happy collecting!
Best no bullshit guide, no „wait till the end of the video“, no filler material, just helpful!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊

Good to know that yellow border are old school card and gray are modern one.

One of the only videos i've watched that actually talked about budget. I'm trying to collect the Japanese 151 set right now as a way to get back into it because I really love the artwork on those cards, and I found myself in a place of "wait a minute, If I'm able to genuinely just buy 1000 packs at my local pokemon shop, what's to stop me from just essentially finishing the set all at once and blow all my money." 151 is really an amazing set(!) but chasing cards just from pack openings is usually a money sink.
I'm glad you learned something from this one and I do have 2 more videos about "collecting on a budget" that you might want to check out! 😊
Thank you for your kind words and for watching!

Happy collecting and thank you for your comment!
6:48 "If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't" - I personally always laugh at myself when I make these mistakes. Glad I am not alone 😂
Definitely not alone on this one! I'm sure we all have been there at least once in our collecting journey... 🫣
Thank you for your comment! 😊
I just learned that the hard way lol
Best video, period.
Started today after 25 years. This was very helpful and simple and made me feel good about starting again. For fun!
Welcome back to the hobby!! 😊
Super glad to hear you feel good about it and "having fun" is definitely the best reason to collect.
Happy collecting!
I started back in July, I never got into collecting as a kid as I grew up not having any $ although I’ve been a pokemon fan since Gen 1. Now i have a a little binder and have gotten into looking for cards I like (I call them
The Cuties). Good luck to you on your epic adventure!
Just please don't get into the hustle or scam culture in pokemon. Please just have fun and don't destroy it further
Really helpful video! Your calmness and professional tone is really appreciated. I can’t wait to get back into collecting again. Danke schön 😊
Sehr gerne and welcome back to the hobby! 😊
Happy collecting!
Thank you, Julius! It's been a week since I started my Pokémon TCG collection. After dozens of videos, yours was the only one with really helpful tips and reliable information. Hi from Brazil.
Bem-vindo ao hobby, Felipe!
Glad you liked it and happy collecting!
I have just started out collecting again. I’ve just bought my first 151 box as I want to try and complete the set. Your video was the best I’ve seen about returning to collect pokemon cards :) thanks for the very informative video
Thank you for your kind words! 😊
151 is an absolute blast to complete or master and one of my favorite releases of all time.
I started playing the TCG when the old Gameboy Color Pokemon TCG game came out and played through that more times than I can count.
I completely agree with you that being a player brings a whole new appreciation for the cards and deck building is super fun!!
Enjoy your cards and your decks and no worries, you'll be great at it in no time!
As a total beginner I appreciate this guide. Thank you so much!
I'm glad it was helpful! 😊
More guides coming out every week.
Thank you for watching and happy collecting!
Top notch stuff dude. Never thought I’d be watching a video about Pokémon card collecting but here I am and you are my prophet. Preach brotha
One of my favorite comments ever! 🔥
Thank you so much and give the silly little Pocket Monsters a try!
0:43 I agree with your first tip: Collect what you enjoy. Simple, but true. That’s all that matters at the end of the day.
Thank you for a wealth of knowledge! This new collector appreciates you 😊
That's it! Collect what makes you happy!
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊
This is the best starter video I’ve seen and I’ve been googling for like 3 days. Thank you so much you have earned a like and a subscription
I'm glad it helped!
Thank you very much for your kind words and happy collecting! 😊
I had to pause this video at 4:49 to say whoever is coming to the comments-yes its worth watching i stopped collecting 22 years ago but i have these extremely rare first generation cards
Welcome back to the hobby and thank you for your comment!
Ah, first editions are always fun to discover.
Happy collecting!
@JuliusCollects thanks 😊
What a great reaource. Thanks so much for this from an actual beginner!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Welcome to the hobby and happy collecting!
thank you so much. really. i am getting into collecting again after 15 years or so and this isthe most helpful video i found on basics of collecting
Welcome back to the hobby and I'm glad it was helpful! 😊
Now is a great time to be a Pokemon collector. Happy collecting!
Just bought an elite trainer box for shrouded fable excited to collect again on a casual level. Subbed 😊 love your advice too on just doing and collecting what you love.
Welcome back to the hobby and thank! 😊
Oh, I love some of the Shrouded Fable full arts and the set is a really good choice for a returning collector.
Thank you for giving my content a chance despite the length! (-:
Happy collecting and thank you for watching!
thank you! its been over 20 years now, but now im back. Thank u for this video!
Welcome back to the hobby and happy collecting!
I figured step one was walk into a card shop that sells pack for market (3.99) and then pick some pretty art and go wild 😂😂😂 literally how i have a binder started on silver tempest and obby flames. Saw lugia, saw charizard. Works for me!
Holy shit that was step one.
More or less.
thanks man, just started getting back into collecting. I fallen out of love with cards collecting when mine got stolen about a decade ago. but i got the itch back with 151.
Welcome back to the hobby! 😊
151 is such a great set and has done wonders to the Pokemon community, I think. So many returning collectors who bring appreciation for the cards.
Happy collecting!
Loved this man. The passionate about these little monsters thing was real. Excited to get back into this after 25 years away from it 😂
I'm glad someone watched until the end! 😄
Welcome back to the hobby!
Welcome back to Pokemon and thank you so much for subscribing!
Hope you keep your passion for a long time.

I subbed because of how you address specific topics that only a true bro would tell you to look out for. Thank you for being a bro my bro 🤜🤛
Awesome! 😎
True bro comment 🔥
Been having this inkling of wanting to start collecting something as I’ve never done this. This video is an AMAZING source on info and great starting point for anyone who is thinking about getting into the hobby. And will be my go to video i will recommend to people who also want to start getting into collecting cards.
personally im thinking of starting with collecting a master set. And having a side binder with all the foil cards (if it is possible to get every single card in a set foil). And make it a monthly hobby expense as i try to master a full set :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊
Mastering a set is so fun but please be careful with buying packs.
TH-cam algorithm ftw! 😊
Happy collecting!
Oh yeah, been there...done that. "Chase cards" are an awful money sink and a quick way into a gambling addiction. Honestly, just buy the single and you get to enjoy the card much sooner than trying to pull it!
Happy collecting and thank you for your comment!
The explanation of rarity etc was great! Picking up my first packs today! Almost 33 and finally collecting pokemon cards 🙌🏽
It's a great time to be a Pokemon collector! 😊
Welcome to the hobby and happy collecting!
I probably started collecting in 2000 or 2001 when I was at school but stopped after only a few years. I’ve recently decided to start again and I’ve decided to collect the SV 151 set because it’s so nostalgic to me. So I agree entirely with your point 1!
Welcome back to the hobby!
151 is one of my favorites, too, and I can't wait to complete the set.
Happy collecting!
I watched like 3 or 4 videos similar and this is the absolute best one concerning tcg pokemon collections thx
You're very welcome!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Happy collecting!
Thank you @@JuliusCollects
Don't feel bad for selling your old collection though...mine was stolen so at least you got some money out of yours at all.
Yes, I completely understand feeling overwhelmed by all of it so my goal was to start from the very basics.
I'm glad you found it now! 😊
Enjoy your new collecting!
Thanks Julius, great video. The ending message was 💯. We have to enjoy doing it, since for most of us, it's just a hobby!
Well said!
Thank you for watching and happy collecting!
Thanks for the info and well made video!
You're very welcome and thank you so much for the kind words! 😊
Enjoy your collecting hobby!
I’m wanting to get back into the hobby after like 20 years and this is just the video I needed I think, thanks! Already have a binder coming in and will need sleeves next. Think I’ll try an Elite trainer box and go from there.
Welcome back to the hobby! (-:
Good choice! Let us know what you pull.

@@JuliusCollects Most interesting pulls have been Illustration rare Meltan and Hyper rare Iron Valiant EX so far.
I’m a 41 year old bloke from London. So tempted to star this hobby. Collecting for fun

Just started with SV base set! It’s so fun to collect and see the beauty of the cards. I’m gonna go for the 151 next
Nice choice! S&V is one of my favorite eras ever and both base set and 151 are superb.
Happy collecting!
I have recently been getting back into collecting cards just for the fun of it. I bought a Vivid voltage booster box as my first ever booster box to give me a jump start.
Welcome back to the hobby!
I love the Nessa trainer card and the Togekiss Rainbow rares from that set. Great choice!
Happy collecting!
This is a great video! I appreciate how you go over the points again at the end, and also that you clarify the types of collectors. I feel that is often a point that is often overlooked.
Thank you for your comment! 😊
Agreed, with so many options and products out there, I think it's important to decide what interests you most and what your personal collection goals are.
Nice video! Just bought the pokemon calendar for christmas and just maybe its a re-start for the hobby
Thanks!
The calendars are a fun way to get back into the hobby. Hope you enjoy the pulls and happy collecting!

I knew it you have so much German stuff and when you say Julius or Kleinanzeigen it sound German. Thank for your video it was a pleasure to watch this kind of videos. I just started to buy a couple of Elite Trainer Boxes. Im very blessed that a Trading Card Shop has opened 5 Minutes from my home (it was pretty hard to reach stores likes this when i was in school in the Gymnasium). It is just a special kind of feeling to open boosters again.

Oh also what's your opinion on the Halloween sets of Pokémon cards?
Thank you very much and welcome to the hobby! 😊
Two very cool sets with great artwork all around. Good choices!
As to Halloween sets: They are usually reprints of regular set cards with a Halloween stamp on them. Nothing special for collectors but great products to hand out to kids and get them interested in the hobby.

Best video I've seen for this type of videos, thank you for all the tips and advice.
I'm glad you found it helpful! 😊
Happy collecting!
Thanks for the Eeveelutions set information, that's something I'm definitely liking the sound of, best of luck with your collecting :)

Welcome back to the hobby.
Team Rocket is one of the best sets ever!

Just doing the same myself! completed a few of my old sets now and man is it satisfying! prices get steep quickly tho....
Very cool man. I stopped collecting Pokemon cards around neo genesis when I was a kid so Ive been working to get cards i loved in the base set series and some neo genesis. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you! 😊
I love vintage sets myself and am trying to finish some of the ones I missed around 2006-2008.
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you!
Happy collecting!

@@JuliusCollects Thank you! I will check it out :)!
That sounds like a great goal and Umbreon has LOTS of cool cards!
As to your question:
I have never had any issues with sending graded cards to the states and back.
Happy collecting!
one of the best video so far, thank you very much - really appreciated :)

Older sets like Cosmic Eclipse aren't printed anymore so they are harder to get and a bit more expensive than others. If you like that specific set, watch my "Charizard UPC Opening" video that shows you a currently available product that still has them.
