I started collecting Pokemon cards since they first released here in the US.. never ended up with Charizard, Blastoise, or Venasaur

Current Objective 100% Completion of WotC sets [Base-Skyridge including Promos, sub sets, and etc. [Primarily English cards] 2nd Objective 100% Completion of XY Steam Siege <including promos> and Dective Pikachu <including promos> 😅

This helps if you have a real copy to compare but without a real copy you can only check the back with a cheap original card. For texture and color on the front, I´ve seen MTG fakes that have the texture, the color and the holo symbole printed on. Only way I was able to spot the difference was the light test as the fake failed the MTG light test directly. Everything else ..... at least for me I had no chance and I had the original to compare! For Pokemon I don´t realy know but if the guy that faked the MTG cards starts with the Pokemon cards you will have problems to find out what the realy ones are. Oh and they have the black/blueish layer in the middle to take the rip test!

Even with this dude giving you ancient advise about a deal is to good to be true, people will fall for scam. I love how he said it once at the beginning and once at the end

I really liked your video. I have recently started looking at this hobby due to the excitement of YT videos. I am trying not to get sucked in but I feel Resistance is Futile! I am now trying to decide on a set to collect and really prefer the more cartoonish characters. Would you say that Paldean Fates is the best for cartoonish characters? I like the bright colors and the shiny stars!

…because the really first edition is from Japan 日本.

Sets are going way to fast nowadays.. before you know there is a new set.. and the old ones disappear

honestly, them switching to silver border was huge for me, just looks so much better imo

After 20+ years lol I started collecting again and began with the TCG Classic box. It's pricey but at the price I got it, I just couldn't pass it on.

I figured step one was walk into a card shop that sells pack for market (3.99) and then pick some pretty art and go wild 😂😂😂 literally how i have a binder started on silver tempest and obby flames. Saw lugia, saw charizard. Works for me!

Best way is to buy from a reputable store, rip packs and get heartbroken. Come back after a decade. Repeat.

Scams, fakes, scalpers. It’s all that makes any hobby so much less enjoyable. Especially when you fall for one. This is one of the reasons I am so afraid of buying singles. And I also buy sealed products from trusted sources. Big sellers I know I can trust, even if sometimes I probably could get some stuff a bit cheaper. As it comes to counterfeit, I noticed it’s all the small toy stores around my place that sell these. They most likely aim for the younger kids that won’t be able to tell a difference besides it’s cheaper so they get excited. I remember when I was a kid and was excited to get “LEGO” for cheap, of course it wasn’t LEGO but I only understood that when I was older.

I kinda think having some of the super expensive fakes or cards pretending to be pokemon cards that aren't actually pokemon cards would be fun to have for displaying purposes but other than that fake cards are lame.

Amazing video! I really want to collect cards again like I did when I was younger and got cards after the weekly target trips, I used to have two tins of XY cards with my favourite Mega Gardevior EX card being binned by my own idiocy when moving a few years back 😭

This video helped me realize that ripping packs was basically for TH-camrs. I started to get extremely discouraged about not hitting "chase cards" and how expensive buying packs started to get. Now I research the sets and buy what I like. Rip a couple packs here and there for fun but not the main source for card collecting.

I've came back to pokemon TCG after 18 years. I have some 1st edition cards, I've been playing duels a lot with friends back when I was kid. Thank you for your guide, I will for sure use your tips to get back to my pokemon journey again :D

this is what i have been looking i am going to restart my hobby after 20 years i was kinda outta loop but your video really helped me i am planning to buy this one Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet-Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box i am mostly looking for original pokemon from my childhood days

Never collected or played the game, or was into it. But in grade 3 in around 2007/08 my friends were bringing cards to school and trading and playing. Of course I don't have any and my mom didn't want me having it (idk why) but my friend gave me some, they sat in my closet all these years until a few weeks ago I put them in my hockey card binder at the back. But now with the Pokémon tcg pocket game, I got that and enjoy it, and the fact I hardly have to spend any money on it.... problem is now im wanting to buy some physical cards, but I have no one to play the game with and honestly don't want to get into it and spend money... as I already have other hobbies like Lego and hotwheels, rare occasion hockey cards. Because I know id probably get sucked in if I get some... especially when I only work a part time job at $19/hr

I want to get into collecting the cards but my main issue is that I am unsure what language I want to collect.. I am also from germany hehe .. but the reason I even think about collecting english or japanese cards is that if I should ever re-sell I would have a bigger market.. whats your opinion on this matter & do you have mixed languages in your collection?

Main thing I do is hunt alt arts and open packs from series that have good ones
