What makes awesome this fight isn't Bayle himself ... but ... The fact Placidusax literally kick this guy's ass in the process at the cost of losing some of his heads in the fight. The reason why Bayle is in that state is because of his fight with Placidusax.

Both Bayle (beautiful) and Fortissax (bombastic with the drums, choir, and intense organ & strings) and especially Midir (the beautiful waltz motif on the strings and falsetto choir in phase 1) were better, even though Placidusax' design, arena, attacks, and 2nd phase (instant transmission) were all PEAK!
Yeah, he's even got the classic Monster Hunter move where he charges into a wall, though the hitbox isn't MH sizes of "Yes, you'll get hit when you're 10 feet behind me". But the first thing I thought of when I saw him in the trailer was Bazelguese.
I legitimately thought: "Oh, it's just gonna be another Ancient Dragon reskin that's like black and has different horns, how cool can it actually be." Well-
The build up to the boss fight was just...it was just epic. The moment you enter the mountain, you hear, nay, FEEL the thunder claps of the mountain, as you ascend further and further up, you feel that dread, that fear...and that excitement. I was so hype when I ascended that mountain, meeting Igon along the way, fighting the dragons in my way, see the red lightning crashing down...and then....then I meet Bayle. GOOD LORD. THIS GUY IS A BEAST. This guy is battered, ragged, torn to shreds, but still...he has the majesty of an Ancient Dragon. The ferocity of a being that could be considered a Dragon Lord himself. The moment phase two starts and he begins to fire his breath at you, the red lightning and fire...it was a spectacle. And don't get me started on Igon. The Voice actor went all into it, I felt his screams towards this dragon, I owed it to myself and Igon to best this dragon, and I would not leave until we slayed this beast. Normally, I try to do all fights without summons, but when I saw Igon literally begging me, on his dying breath and broken body, to summon him for the final confrontation....I had to. I felt like I really had to! This music brings me back to the fight over and over again.
The fact that this dragon is one of the harder fights of the DLC is impressive, he is missing an arm, a hand, a legg and both wings yet STILL stands toe to toe with gods.
The most spectacular boss in gaming in my opinion. I thought Radahn held that title, but this guy really pushed the limits of what gaming is capable of.

After hearing this theme and looking at the state of Farum Azula i think it could answer why Farum Azula's place looks fcked up beyond recognition like im sure this place was more beautiful before but then Bayle happened and had a fight with Placidusax which i would guess that their battle was pure violent and destructive that they were crashing into buildings, cracking the earth they stand on, ripping the whole places into chunks and in addition to Placidusax's mastery of the storm caused even more damage and probably as they were about to finish their fight with Bayle's Fire Lightning Nuke and Placidusax's nuke, turned the whole Farum Azula into a catastrophic event that completely destroyed the once divine place Their battle must've shook the earth for them to have those grave injuries with Placidusax having 2 heads left while Bayle losing his left leg and his wings torn to pieces and ran away knowing he couldnt finish the fight GODDAMN 🔥
this is my favorite dragon fight (sorry midir, they finally outdid you) and favorite fight in fromsoft's entire catalogue the first time i saw the phase transition my jaw dropped, and i always play with music about twice as loud as sound effects this dlc is an absolute masterpiece

A man whos body was broken and consumed by fear, but his soul burned with such focused hate that, once summoned, the fear washes away and he gains the power to stand against possibly the most powerful dragon in the game. From a desperately poor scavenger to a Dragon Slayer. He will haunt you no longer Igon.

bayle is THE best dragon fight topping lichdragon in terms of coolness and midir and placidusax in terms if difficulty fitting that this is the same dragon who challenged the dragonlord. though I always wonder what for? lordship? the title of dragonlord? bayle after all created all the lesser dragons if I red up on lore correctly. so was bayles challenging to the dragonlord so that he could become the lord of not just lesser dragons but ancient dragons as well. I cant lie when i say i fw with the areas preceding the fight with bayle..the climb as you ascend meeting stronger versions of base game dragons you fought before, with new powers, until you get to the top to avenge the dragonlord and face the vile and dreaded bayle, with a fury so unmatched it makes the mountains churn and boil when he roars.

So this is the DLC superboss? I really, really, REALLY want to hate it. I greatly dislike most beast fights because of the wild camera while locked on or inability to see their attacks properly and large gap closers/distance makers. I hate bosses who can one shot me at 60 vigour. So why don’t I hate this big ass, mangled dragon?

Placidussax has been meditating waiting for his god to return for ages. Bayle caught him asleep and still fled.
Hold your horses the fight ended in a draw nether of the dragons won or lost but bayle was banished and ended up in the shadow relm

Yeah, definitely reccomend playing with unlocked cam for Bayle, allows you to better punish his attacks going to the head and seeing where you are
