"Yeah, I'm playing an acoustic guitar for show, but I might as well be playing electric, because that's what I'm about. So here you go, fuckers. Pedals." J is a treasure.
The first ten times I saw J+ (Dinosaur jr) he had black hair. You never saw his face as he strummed. This was back in 1992-94 before cellphones etc; it was epic! The world was so simple and real compared to the insanity today. Enjoy the moments, folks because things are about to get so complicated in the west that we have absolutely no idea how to deal with.
theres a vid of him talking about how he stacks od and fuzz pedals. the breakdowns in the first song are classic big muff but i think he uses different pedals for the clean overdrive sounds

I saw J play acoustic at one of the last shows ever at CBGB. That was the loudest f-ing acoustic guitar I ever heard.
J will make anything loud. Because if it can't rupture an eardrum what's it worth?

"Yeah, I play acoustic guitar... with a fuzz pedal." - J. Mascis, probably.

You can hear the conversation in the background and basically J. just stomps on that peddle, wakes them up, and blows their ears out. Yes yes.
J is still a kid at heart. You can hear it in guitar playing. Keep on keeblin' my friend!
12:49 LOL, a 4x12" Orange monitor!
i love how his riffs in between songs sometimes sound better than most new band's whole songs lol
I think sometimes he's setting his loop pedal for his solo in the next song.

He won't even play an acoustic without at least a bit of OD.
Love this man.

I count 4 amp heads, for a solo acoustic perfromance. J is the GOAT.
Nice, he started with my favorite song. I kept yelling for them to play it in Vegas recently, but no dice.
orange amp!
How is he doing that with his acoustic?
Any way he can, that's how.

Nick Barefoot a distortion/fuzz pedal before the amp

Aww now he’s playing Wagon. 1992 93?

anyone know for sure what he was playing that acoustic thru ?
looks like an orange twin channel through a ppc 4x12. Not his normal rig, but it looks like Orange provided the backline
