As much as I love classic Iron, the tremendous leap in capability, efficiency, and technology in the last decade, decade and a half, is simply undeniably impressive. Shocking actually when you watch this video series and realize how analog tractors really were up until the early-mid 2000s. The integration of the modern electronic systems developed by the aviation and automotive industries really took what was a relatively shallow trajectory from the point of enclosed cabs up to the 2000s or so and caused an extremely sharp rise in the technological evolution of these machines. And, mind you, the hardware still hasn't changed much; it's all been the integration of electronics technologies. For those still uncomfortable with this rather drastic shift in the industry, I suggest embracing it sooner than later - not only is this stuff much more simple than you think it is, but it's obviously here to stay, especially with the growth of automation. This stuff is here for your benefit, should you choose to take advantage of it.
My all time favourite tractor was a John Deere 9630 from 2007-2011. It had lots of power, and had a solid frame. It had no emissions, and are still very popular
This series was really cool and well done. What I really enjoyed about it is how it demonstrates the huge diversity in farming with the use of equipment. By watching this video first, you would assume that most guys are running modern, high horsepower tractors with massive farms. However, since the series is using footage over the past five years or so, you can see that there are still many farmers running equipment successfully from 30-40 years ago. Sometimes you need the new kit; sometimes you can make due with (and appreciate) a tractor that continues to give well after it would be considered “obsolete” by some. Thanks BTP!
Modern tractors are what i grew up with. I have operated a few, and i'm quite loyal to New Holland. I don't know why, but New Holland, Ford and Fiat are the only tractors for me
@@bigtractorpower i grew up with seeing blue tractors. I grew up with Ford and New Holland. I know a farmer who uses two New Holland tractors. A New Holland T7000 series tractor and a New Holland M series tractor, painted in Fiat colors, so it's a terracotta colored New Holland. There's a few farmers who gets a custom color paint on their New Holland tractors in Sweden, as they began farming with Fiat tractors. The first tractor i operated out in the fields was a Fiat tractor, so that's probably why I'm loyal to New Holland
I collect tractor sales literature and have a fairly complete set on all brands from 1960 to today. I use that sales literature for specs and details. I also use use the Official Guide to Tractors for years of production and pricing. Tractor dealers use this guide to price used farm machines. I also talk to dealers and directly to the tractor manufacturers.
I'm glad Deutz-Fahr went back to the original green with silver wheels (not the red wheels from the 70's). Your comment was dead on BTP, the costs of these tractors sure make the big articulated tractors form the 80's-90's cost effective for today.
I’m always gonna be a JD fan. But I did like the New Holland with the track rears and tire front axels. Neat idea and cool 😎 look to it. Thank you as always for your videos. Let’s keep Ag #1. God bless 🌽
About $100k per 100hp these days...got a 1976 IH 1066 black stripe here that was about $26k and still runs like new. Bad thing is the new stuff just doesn't last🤦
I enjoy your videos. My Grand Parents had farms and I grew up on a acreage. We had a old Massey Harris tractor for our one acre garden and a plow and cultivator and mower. I play Farming Simulator 17 and it is nice to see in real life the tractors from the game. Especially the mowers in this video. Autonomous tractors? I wonder how they will prevent them from getting stuck in muddy conditions and what will the computer do when that happens. All fine and dandy on flat dry ground I would imagine. Big problems in hilly/sloped or muddy areas would be my concern.
Thank you for watching. Almost every tractor in the video has its own full feature video on Big Tractor Power TH-cam that discusses the implement and field work. If there are any you want to know more on ask and I will be happy to answer.
Hey BTP......JCB Model 8290 has shown up in my area South of Phoenix, AZ....might be worth a look if any in your area. I've enjoyed all the decade summaries...!!!
Great video! I love watching them but I never operate them. How does gps work with fields that are curved when planting, and how do they prevent from overlapping spots that have already been seeded?
A tractor equipped with GPS has each field mapped out already. The tractor's computer knows where it's already been so it will never overlap with whatever kind of implement it's pulling if the GPS is being used at that time. If planting, the planter is also wired into the tractor's computer so it never plants the same place twice. An example would be a curved field where the rows end at different points. As a particular row ends, the computer will shut off the planter unit on that particular row, then turn it back on again once it goes into an area where it hasn't planted. it's very costly to have such a system but that's the way they make all of these things now. I don't expect a new piece of equipment today to be around in 30 or 40 years the way that equipment made 30 or 40 years ago is still being used everyday today.
I will have a GPS video out on corn planting. The tractor follows a b line that is established on the first pass. As odd shape fields are worked the gps guidance will help the tractor to shut off each row of s planter as it passes over an already seeded area. It is very precise.
@@bigtractorpower Thank you for the answer. That was another big question I had was whether the rows of the planter would turn off/on when they needed too. Can't wait for the video, thanks!
Now the computers will turn your tractor on the headlands and drop the implements. All you have to do is just sit there and watch the monitors in case there's a problem.
Very good video! Thanks! Markers are still being used like on the white planter pulled by that 375 Versatile at the end of the video?? I had not seen markers being used for a very long time!!
Yeah i think the teens were about the Euro-spec machines getting a stronger market share over here in N America. autonomous tractors are starting to hit the market, the German Ag shows had a few versions mainly in the mid-range hp but the big leap will be the robotic tool bar that turns into what ever you need it for, and that will be truly boring.

A great trilogy with the best of all tractor of the latest decades! I'd like the images with New Holland in the sunset! Great Big!
Great opening with the Challenger and White planter. Also love the rippers lifting the soil.
Challenger is a nice looking tractor, Dad always had MF, and Fords, still love them.🚜🚜🚜
The Challenger 1000 series are impressive tractors. I like finding Massey and Fords to film.
Pretty sure they made the 714 fendt for a long time i drive one that is one of the first ones in North America from the early 2000s
Yes the 714 has been around many years. This is the S4 model as noted in the description which is the 4th generation of the design.
bigtractorpower ok I got ya now
Very nice video love John Deere greatings coetzer farming South Africa
Thx for your films and informations !
do you have a go-to site when you look up specs or do you just search each tractor individually
Todd Family Farm tractor data is a good site but Jason eats and breath tractors like a manager know basketball better than the coach

I go for the Versatile, next year will be the 8RX for sure

I like the john deere 6r's. The JD 6215R in particular.
Thanks BTP, enjoyed the whole series of decades. Actually I have enjoyed all of your videos. Keep up the great work

Brutal year last year for agronomy but everything looks to be starting out truly green for 2020. Looking forward to the coverage for the year.

Like q tractor incrível
Excellent machines, but while power and features are up, the prices have just exploded. I thought spending $120k for 340 hp, used, was a lot...
Tractors today are defiantly a big investment.
Great job as always. Personally, I would find it helpful if you include the name of the implements being used

Thank you Brad. I make one everyday. Stay tuned. Almost to 1,700 videos posted.
Do you think Kubota will make the "high horsepower" list next time? really starting to see more of them purchased for field work.
Thanks for the post mate , watching in the UK
I really like thejohb deere 8r series fixed frame tractors. Really outstanding tractors to me
Thank you for the review. I see CNH and AGCO is still where are the innovations are.
Both great farm equipment makers.

The JCB Fastrac is an impressive tractor. I hope to get to film one some day.
Are you going yo make a decades of combines series? That would be interesting!

SO MANY EARLY RISERS
It's a pity the farm produce hasn't gone up with the price of machinery to be in line
Isn't it the first time we see a planter on tracks at about 5:30
Watching these videos I notice that 25 yrs ago an JD8970 had the same pwr of a 8400R and 4960 only had half its powet 🤔
I remover when the 225 hp John Deere 8400 came out in 1995 and thinking wow the 8630 4wd was huge in 1975 and it was 225 hp.
10:17 John Deere
