Any working Oliver is a great find. It looks repowered. I love seeing these old 2wd powerhouses still working. It what we used until the late 70s. For how many hours I put on our Allis 200 and 185...I'll pay for it later with arthritis in my back and damaged hearing. Game changer when we got our AC 8550, all of a sudden we used a 45' cultivator and almost 40' chisel, 12 bottom DMI to tear pasture into farmland. Air conditioning, nice seat, quiet inside and came to us with 350hp on the Dyno. Ate through tires and 4 torque converters quickly, until I think the 4w305 came out with a stronger one we used. It didn't have the weight of a Stieger, and we pushed it hard in the drought of early 80s, through soil like concrete after harvest. I so appreciate your channel, your videos cost you money and I would be happy if you started a patreon account.

I love seeing the old Ford still out working
I work part-time for a dairy Farmer when I was a kid that had that Ford tw35 four-wheel drive with a loader.
I thought that was the neatest tractor around considering all the other farmers were still running two wheel drive John Deere's without a loader

I like the young guy on the Oliver 1950 T. Bouncing around in the dust listening to the straight pipe coming from that new-fangled turbocharger. No insulated suspended cab or auto-steer for that man. The operator of the AC 7040 has the windows open and will be getting exposed to the whiffs of anhydrous as well as the heat coming off the transmission. I liked my '76 AC 7040 which I bought new. The 7040 here looks in way better shape than me even if the air conditioner isn't working.

Great video! Loved seeing that Ford Tw25 and 8670 genesis tractor. Would like to see you do a Ford tractor history video in 2020. When Ford aquired New Holland and when they sold to Fiat. Also why they sold their Agriculture line. That blue just looks great out in the field. 🙂

      I also agree.
I've always been a little disappointed in Ford for selling off their agricultural tractor line and they're heavy truck line
and then turns around and buys a bunch of stupid foreign sports car companies that do nothing but lose money

I grew up using Ford tractors and to be honest I don't remember us having any real issues with the ford's. Infact they were the tractors that would start when it was only +5 out Fahrenheit. The Oliver's did not like the cold so we just ran the fords in the winter. But you hardly ever hear anyone ever talking about them. People don't really say anything negative but they also don't Bragg on them either. The Ford 9000 we had was 2 wheel drive and by far my all time favorite tractor. I really wish more people showed them in use more often and not just the TW25 and bigger.

While in high school in the mid 70's, I worked a couple of dairies in Wayne Co., NE Ohio. The Red ruled the landscape then and I grew up on the 60's & 70's IH big tractors. Seems most farmers had the 1066 and bigger, but probably my favorite, other than that 1066, was the 806. I swear that hulk would pull anything you hitched to it and wouldn't even belch. I'd haul corn in gravity boxes, then after milking hitch up a grinder to grind a feed corn mixture for the milk parlor or pull a tandem axil honey wagon, shoot silage 100'+ up into the tops of sealed silos, hay season, and working the ground for long hours come fall. Fall & winter time were especially great in that while you were getting the corn off on a crisp fall evening, or hauling honey to the field in winter, the heat rolling back at you off that behemoth always kept you warm and satisfied, reminding you that you were doing something worthwhile. It's difficult to describe the power felt while operating one of those mighty machines. With me, it had a gutteral feeling that beneath and before you, was a collected heap of horsepower that certainly appealed to your manhood and made you feel larger than life.
My great grandfather was a dairy farmer in central Ohio at the turn of the last century, w/2 horses and 80 acres then. I realized that all those old guys that came before me had gifted me with an ensemble of horsepower & technology that was really something to be a part of. It was as if I had become a part of the machine while "it" did the hearty work - all that was required of me was to manage it's brute strength and to keep a sharp eye on its functions - monitoring the rpm's, temperature gauge, and listening to the throaty roar of the disiel engine. If you listened carefully, it'd tell you what it needed for speed and performance in the field while at various tasks as that power plant would respond to the t/a or a slight adjustment to the throttle.
Sadley, the old guys are all gone now, and when I drive back to visit family up near there and see those grand old farms with the huge fields and far running lines of sight, it makes me proud I had a hand in milking their cows and working the land - for $1/hr... learning to become a man. It all helped set me straight before I went off into the Army, and I'll never forget the time spent with those farmers and the mighty IH machines that worked their land. It made making a living different than what it is today - highly technical, innovative, more efficient and way more complex than it was then. So glad I came from small town farmers that passed along something worthwhile about manhood that I feel is missing today.

Great post. Thank you for sharing. I grew up in the late 70’s and early 80’s in Western New York. IH was king in those days. It seemed so many dairies had a new IH 1086. Plow, chop and spread was the 1086’s job. Lots of 1066s around on Big grain farms in the area to plant corn, cultivate crops and drill wheat.

I remember a very high number of farming operations that ran either John Deere of Ford tractors. They were the big 2 in this province. Many farms that bled the blue oval didn't stay loyal for very long after Ford tractors became New Holland. I remember two dealerships that were nearly side by side, one was a Case IH dealer the other Ford/New Holland. It wasn't even close in sales between the two, I remember the Case IH dealer closing up because they struggled against other. That same dealer that sold Ford/New Holland no longer sells equipment but they still service all those Ford tractors they sold new over the many years. Still a lot of them in the fields.

The Ford TW-25 was quite cool, and was beautifully filmed. The Ford New Holland pulling the 16-row planter was impressive, I didn't know a tractor of that horsepower could pull a planter that big (I've grown up around farming, but I've still got a lot to learn, hehe. I guess it makes that it could, but I hadn't really thought about it before). That AGCO White 8810 looked immaculate, but it looked like it might not've been quite enough tractor to handle that chisel plow...

Looks like the JD had greenstar GPS system fitted, couldn't tell if he was using it though. But, it does take a lot of concentration to do the job. I remember using similar equipment on sugar beet, back in the GPS free days. When we started using the fendts fitted with the trimble GPS system, that was amazing to use on jobs like that, took a while to actually trust the auto pilot, but it worked flawlessly. I still like to drill cereal crops without using auto pilot, but, it's always nice to use when you want to have a sandwich and a drink.

My favorite tractor growing up in the late 70’s/80’s was the IH 1586. Don’t see many in video these days.

Your state the int 1066 at 125hp in several vids, yet ours dynoed at 137, as we purchased it with 2hours on meter, we ran it up to only 4750 hours by the time we were done farming

I believe he listed it as pto rating which is accurate at 140. Everything was rated at pto horse back then.
