    Seems pretty obvious that you get Bose/Sony for the noice-cancelling ability, or Sennheisers for the sound quality. In between you have to decide which compromise works best for you. Depends on how/where you use them.

      The Bose Quietcomfort 45's are the best at ANC I've used. Bose and Sony are always a close tie but that is the case. I prefer Bose because they cancel out more of the high frequency noises. Which is hard to do.

    It doesn't seem to be widely known that the Momentum 3's can be powered off without folding them up. Hold down the "play/pause" button for 5 seconds or so. You will hear "Power Off" as confirmation. To power back on, you will need to fold up the headphones and then open them back up. Works great and useful for those that want to put these on a regular stand.

    Just got it today! First impression is very good. The quality and the sound are good. I was also looking at the Sony XM4 but I discarded it because it doesn't support an audio USB connexion with a PC. It's not well documented on the internet but I presume that if you use the regular PC audio out, the headphone must digitize the sound before applying NC. Thus losing quality. The PX7 was also on my radar but the Momemtum was cheaper for what I evaluated the same quality. The NC is ok on the Momemtum. My other headphone; Soundcore Q30 does a better job at NC. But the Q30 feels like you are in a bubble with NC activated while the Momemtum feels more open/natural. I've not played with the Sennheiser app yet. Maybe I can boost the NC or a firmware update will tweak it a liitle bit.

    Hey Adam, I want to get new wireless over ear's, and these are my options:
    - JBL CLUB 950NC
    - Beats by Dr. Dre Studio 3 (I'm using a Samsung, not an iPhone)
    - Microsoft Surface Headphones 2
    - Sennheiser HD 450BT
    Which ones should I purchase?

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dang, you hit me with a tough one. I've used all except the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio 3 so I have to cancel that out. If we're talking those are the only choices for sure, I'd go with the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 simply because for $49 more at retail price the ANC, microphones and versatility is better than the Sennheiser HD 450BT or JBL CLUB 950NC. The Sennheiser HD 450BT have the best music quality out of all them but that's the only thing better.

    Regarding connecting them through USB: they show up as a separate audio output in you OS sound settings - just select them, and you'll be listening through USB.
    A quick tip: you can also hold the pairing button while unfolding them which switches off the Bluetooth module completely while retaining all their active features. I do it all the time when I'm not on the go since while they sound great via Bluetooth, they sound absolutely stunning when wired: the sound stage, the details - just about everything is noticably better.

    Hey Adam great video!
    I was just wondering your thoughts. I'm somebody who cares only about sound quality and deep bass, I really don't care about the fancy features these headphones, the xm4s or the Bose have to offer, I will only be using the headphones for music and music only. Out of the Bose, xm4, or Momentum 3s, which pair would you go for if you're in my shoes? Looking forward to your response!

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you mentioned deep bass, Sony is going to be the best strictly for bass and then music quality second. Bose and Sennheiser don't match how much bass you can get from Sony in my opinion. Anything else you care about?

Guess it’s personal preference at the end of the day.

    I got these six months ago and have used them nearly everyday. I have to completely agree with your review.
    The sound quality IS spectacular. However, Sennheiser missed the mark on so many other aspects of these Momentum 3 headphones. From the lack of a power button (they must be folded to be turned off, and not doing so drains their battery), to the sliding cups that need to be readjusted constantly while wearing them, to the user experience design of the buttons on the cup (it's kind of a pain to discern the play/pause button while wearing them, since it is so close to the volume buttons), to the microphone (I get complaints if there are any kind of background noises happening, but not as bad as Bose headphone mics). With the right adjustments to their design, these could have been really incredible headphones. For the price, that's what I was expecting from Sennheiser.

It seems like it's sensitive to head position, like if I turn my head around they cut out, but if I manipulate the cord all over the place, no problem. It's annoying that if I slouch in my chair a little bit without even turning my head they disconnect too. Driving me crazy how buggy they are.

    Wow! I've been watching reviews all week and I finally found someone whom I can trust because he mentioned Tool as their first pick. I'm currently considering:
    -Sennheiser HD450BT
    -Sony XM4
    -Sennheiser Momentum 3
    Beside price, my first priority is sound quality. Now price wise, I could easily afford the HD450BT but I'm worried that it won't fit my ear and its sound quality's not satisfying enough. Then I was leaning toward XM4 but I've doubts about its sound quality vs the other two. On the other hand, Momentum 3 sound quality seems the best and most dynamic but it's $100 more than XM4. Is it actually worth it? If not, will the HD450BT suit me best? Do you have any advice for me?

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely Tool is a must to really test a pair of headphones! Thank you for that feedback.
      Sennheiser is ridiculous with the sound quality and detail. The 450BT's don't have good ANC compared to the Sony XM4's but out of all 3 of these the XM4's are the best buy only because of the fact that you can equalize the lows a little bit down to not give it such a bass heavy sound. Sony's sound signature definitely is in the lows of the music but the ANC is the best out of the three. For me personally I need a pair of headphones with good ANC.
      Is sound quality the only thing you care about? How about other things like true wireless vs over the ear, etc? Because the Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds are the best ANC and sound quality earbuds I've tried period in this price range but those are true wireless. Yes, I just got my hands on the Sony WF-1000XM4's but I'm still in the review process.

      Go with Sennheiser HD450BT or Momentum3. Bcz I used sony in the past after few months, one side of the headphone was dead. With the warranty you can exchange Sennheiser but not sony.

    3:08 you mentioned that you don’t like the idea about locking the wire with the headphones, I completely disagree with you dude. This feature is the best so that when you try to listen while working on studio you don’t mistakenly discounted from the headphones or let’s say you doing DJ and you moving a lot who knows sometimes if it disconnects while you on the middle of the events you are screw.

      I’ve been using HD450BTNC(3 years still use that), AMBEO Smart Headset (2 years still use it) far beats everything. Ordered my momentum 3. I’ll put my feedback once I receive it.
      To me, your review is soo poor. It’s like you mainly targeting Sennheiser’s Con side.

      Don’t forget Sennheiser comes with 1 year warrants and I’ve used their service. Didn’t pay penny for shipping they covered all. Plus I’ve used HD450 while exercising in the summer, it gets sweaty but still good.

      @@TechOutAdam Sadly not. I use a Cat S42, I had a call and i could hear the other person, but i was mute. I found your vid by searching for some infos for the functions. Could have bin that i simply didnt know the functions correctly. By this point i had already broke my M3 a bit, i exidently riped out the left earpiece and dislocated the joint. Still works but sometimes when my Headphones have their 5 minutes of raging autism, they just squeek realy loud and make some ugly noises. Usuly can be fixed by restart.

    I wish they had the design more elegant on these, really hard to get onboard with those hefty cups and bulky metal spikes, I want a new Sennhiser but can’t see much to like in their recent lineup

      I agree, the fit and design were the biggest flaw for me. It was too much. The PXC550II are even better. Hopefully they come out with a 550III version soon!

    If you want to be a tech TH-camr or whatever I suggest doing your research or at the very least read the user manual (instead of saying you’re not even gonna read what’s on the box) I haven’t finished watching the video and I probably won’t, there are more informed and experienced reviewers out there. Just wanted to inform people that you can have them off and open so you can put them on a headphone stand. Just hold the play/pause button for 4 sec while unfolding them. You can use the usb to listen to music just make sure it’s not connected to a Bluetooth device and select it as your audio playback device on your computer. ANC does work when wired. First thing I did when I got mine is read the manual doesn’t take more than a minute (you can read it while taking a shit if you want) and now I know all the functions and how to solve any common issues. Don’t be like this guy take a minute and read the manual.

    • @EminemSlimMarshall3
      @EminemSlimMarshall3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I forgot u almost broke ur headphones too because you couldn’t read a manual then called it a poor design choice when it’s actually more secure and a lot of high end wired headphones use non removable wires. I understand why some might dislike this feature but it takes a special kind of idiot to nearly damage their headphones because they don’t know how to plug a wire or maybe read a manual.

    I don't really like the design ...it looks premium but the comfort looks suspect...It looks uncomfortable , and those wires sticking out isn't a thoughtful design becos if a kid was to yank it or it catches something like a knob ..I don't know , if anything should happen to those wires the headphone is gone...but I use the Sennheiser momentum 2 earbuds ..and I can say with my full chest ..this will never disappoint u in sound quality it doesn't matter what genre u listen to ..so I bet this would be better since it covers the whole of ur ear ... Sennheisers do know how to tune headphones.

    Wow, just wow, first negative review of these headphones. Almost every other review crown these as the best sounding ANC headphones, and for me too. I've heard a lot about the bose 700s and the sony xm-4s and me coming from the sennheiser momemtum 2.0 really wanted to switch to the new kids on the block. But after trying both of those headphones I can only laugh at this review, I guess you chose to focus on the negatives, if there are any negatives. And for me they worth every penny just for the sound quality alone.

    • @TechOutAdam

      It's the way it goes for sure after trying so many headphones. Everytime I do a review I'm like, "Man I really hope this is helpful." Any feedback is good feedback and you're right the sound quality is ridiculous!

    Ohh boy ! Do you know that there is ANC headphones that are 1000$ and more that are capable of doing all that you want?!?!?! At 399$ the sennheiser are the best headphones for sound on the market… period ! I have them all and they are the best… period !!! Of course they have little « bug » but at 399$ you can’t have better than those m3. I think you are too whining 🤣🤣 you talk about things that nobody cares. If you have ANC bluethoot… yeah BLUETOOTH (that’s why you bought them !!!!!!), why whining about the wire connection? Don’t use the wired connection !!! That’s it ! :)
