Anchor's are never centred to start with though all ships normally have them to either the back, front or to the side

Thank you falcore I've been saying a small fast boat would bring more diverse game play since the brig came out everyone wants the "man o war" but few people stop to consider the possibilities presented by having a small ship that could out run larger teams without breaking reality and physics by sailing into the wind! I mean try doing that in the real world and see how far you get, flipping Reaper runners. you know seasons don't fear the Reapers nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are DONT FREAR THE REAPERS

The anchor not being centered on the sloop makes a lot of sense why I cant hit the anchor sometimes in a pinch from portside whilst manning the sails. Hence why Im always starboard while on the sails. Quick slight side step to the left and I can drop/raise anchor without "looking".
There needs to be a super slow 5 or 6 player ship, would be amazing, 5 cannons, 4 floors, metal siding.

I wish there were "legendary" skins for ships, (it wouldnt be an actual rarity system) where there are major changes to the ship like a narrower front or different layout

Yes, give us a solo ship, small enough to be really hard to be hit by cannon shots and easy to hide from everyone. Probably would get one shoted by a keg tho

It would be cool if there were like 2-3 different types of the same ship like for the galleon could have the one we have now, a faster galleon with weaker cannons, and a super tanky galleon with stronger cannons but could be easily out maneuvered

i'd like to have the same ships but variants of them, perhaps with differences in playstyle too

i would like to point out that a sloop is referring to the rig type, aka a sloop rig. currently there is no sloop rig in the game. almost all modern sailboats are sloops. with fore aft rigging and sails that run parallel to the ship not perpendicular, (that's called a square rig.)

i think we kinda got a solo ship with the cannon rowboat but if we could add a sail that would be so much cooler
People may get triggered by “Gally-on”, I had a breakdown after hearing “Fry-gate”
Galleon is already big enough, too big even, for most 4 man crews. They could easily add one spot to each ship instead of a new even larger ship. I prefer the idea of making new models from the existing ones. Instead of sloop, brig, and galleon ships make them sloop, brig, and galleon class and then start coming up with different variations of those with the same stats just different appearance. Feels like a new ship, ads variety and freshens it up.

well, we had the brig removed from the sloop, thats an update to ships
So, why not make them and make players have more choice?: solo for gunboats, solo-dou for sloop/cutter, double-trio brigantine/schooner/junk, trio-quartet galleon/frigate
I’d be happy to see a smaller boat and even a bigger boat added. I still don’t understand as to how the servers for this game have never been able to handle very many people but regardless I like to see quality of life additions and gameplay updates as opposed to just small useless things.

No I agree with this, not so much different types of ships that give a tactical advantage, I just want to see different types of ships present. Gives the game more flavor. Why I liked the game Pirate:Caribbean hunt, due to the vast range of ship types and ship variations. Added flavor and SoT needs this a bit I think

Bigger ships would be weird I’d increase crew sizes first. A galleon could easily support like 6 players without it being unbalance or anything plus I think that would be so fun really give you like a hectic feel on deck. Of course I’m sayin increase crew sizes for all ships
In what sea are you sailing? :D 1 on the wheel, 2 firing cannons, one repair and 2 borders does sound unbalanced to me. I mainly spot briggs and sloops nowadays. 6 player galleon would completely destroy servers imo.

If a brig has 5 galleon 6 and sloop idk 4 would still be fine because all crews would be better Also you could buff the ships as in make brig a bit faster or whatever I’m just saying it would be quite fun to have larger crews because it would give in my opinion a more crew feel

Yea and each model could have like different stats such as more speed but less defence or vise versa also i think they need to make it so that we can have more people on a single ship even increasing the crew size for each ship by 1 or 2
@@planecrasher1057 No.. You're missing the entire point of the game: a level playing field where skill is the winner and not whether you have better armor or not. Increasing crew sizes is also a terrible idea. Think of how ineffective boats currently are with the amount of players they have. A Galley always has one knob standing around picking his nose, if not 3. there would be more people doing nothing if the crew sizes increased.
@@rucker69 ah yes because a sloop vs a galleon or brig is all about skill but choosing a ship model for your sloop that gives some pros and cons such as more defence but less speed or more cannon's but less damge isn't they would be unlocked at the start it would be a choice to all players also if your friends are doing nothing on the ship then you need new friends
@@planecrasher1057 I've always thought the same thing. So that you could spec out your ship to your play style. Don't enjoy PVP? More speed/armor less fire power, etc.. but the ability to have ie. 10 tokens that can be applied to different ship attributes would be awesome.

A major draw of the game is it's simplicity. If you hop on an enemy ship and have to figure out what layout they are using it's quite a disadvantage.

The amount of things to do can be very overwhelming for new players since there is barely any tutorial (the maiden voyage shows you how your equipment works but not what you can do in the game). There's regular quests for the trading companies, the more rewarding quests (ghost fleets, vaults and lost shipments), PVP, world events, tall tales, siren shrines, arena, Fort of the Damned, fishing etc. I think that woukd be way more overwhelming for new players than having to learn different layouts for a few more ship types
what if the capstan on the sloop is aligned and it’s just the rest of the ship that is misaligned.

we dont necessarily need BIGGER ships but new ship TYPES would be nice. as long as they dont change the amount of masts it should be easy to recognize what ship type a ship is too.
It would be nice if we could unlock different types as we progress.
New ship types could be really fun to play with. I always liked the idea of being able to move cannons on your ship. For example, having chase guns but loosing a pair of guns on the brig. To balance, they are hard to aim due to wood and increase sink rate.
Yeah a Frigate would be nice plus my entire pirate characters ship is supposed to be a Frigate but I have to use the galleon in game
I like to have ship type that looks really similator to Black Pearl’s design cause of this it should be bigger than galleon.
I feel that might be something they hold off until a new region is added, they had concept for an asian inspired region so would be cool to have asian inspired boats in those areas.
Wondering when they might create a Viking inspired area, I know it would break the tropical feel having a snowy area but like Viking ships are cool.
We actually did get a ship update not long ago.. the GREAT little bed on the sloop! 😍
a hammock would've probably been best, my bed is near-constantly underwater and I know others don't mind it, but I worry for my health when I use it.

I've always thought they should make a fishing/hunting vessel. 4-man capable with multiple cooking stations but with limited armament and medium speed.

As much as I like the idea, I feel like it'd just be the sloop, but with more cooking stations.
Even if it was another ship, they'd still have to put in the clothing, vanity, and pet chests which take up space on a small ship.
Perhaps if they allowed you to buy a portable cooking pot from the Hunters which you could pretty much put down anywhere, which takes oil that you could also buy from the Hunters. Much like buying cannonball crates from the Merchants.

Cutter, Schooner, and Frigate would all be great. Personally, I wouldn't mind different stats for each, but I also would just love cosmetic variations.
Gaff rigged schooners are my absolute favorite! They look so damn "futuristic". Also the lateen sailed ships would look nice too.

Cosmetic changes to the ships would be nice to make them into "another ship". Gives something extra to spend gold on. "Upgrade" the current ships into another version using in game gold. No difference in ship stats but they'd look different and give abit of variation on the seas.

I'd love to pay to 'repair' the sloop, especially with Captaincy now. Like the cover on top of the map is all torn, would pay to get it fixed and have the sloop be a little more luxurious
I just got done watching absolutepixel’s nitpick video which made the ending even better
I always thought that they are going to expand ship types horizontally and not vertically. So not more or less players on a ship but by changing the rigging and hull shape a bit you get a new ship type. But I don’t agree it should just be cosmetic. First adding gaff rigging will change how the ship catches the wind slightly. Also they could make it so that fore and aft rigged boats like a cutter go faster in the wind than it’s sloop counter part. So against the wind the cutter beats the sloop but with the wind the sloop beats the cutter but both beat the Gal-e-on against the wind.

@@jaqoobmar714 steam ships would be outside of the pirate theme and would put sailing ships at a disadvantage. You might as well as ask for an ironclad.

We don't need bigger ships: just more variation in them and more different ways of controlling them. Some take more skill but go faster, while others are easy to control but are less fast etc.

I've often felt a sail on the rowboat would be amazingly useful, and since we now know there will be a canon rowboat, it'd make it even more useful.
I want multi crewed ships, 16 and 24 gun Galleons. I want to be fully immersed with 8 or more people on my ship. I want each person to have a job. Like an actual Helmsman, etc so the person playing Captain can essentially watch, observe and plan.
The day someone makes an actual sailing simulator within a pirate game is the day I will appreciate.

Here’s a solution: instead of worrying about the possibility of there being 5 Man’o’Wars clogging the server performance, we could accept the idea of “first come first serve” for 2 Man’o’Wars per server and 3 Galleons per server. So if there are already 3 galleons in a server, you can’t be the 4th galleon of that server and are sent to a server that has open galleon slots. Same for the Man’o’War ship, since there can only be 2 in a server, you are sent to a server that has an open Man’o’War slot available. I feel like this method of matchmaking would be good since there won’t be any “error too many galleons” alerts since you’re already automatically sent to a server with open galleon slots. Just food for thought because I remember the Brig being such a game changer and some unique spice added to the seas. Maybe there could be 2 new ship types added at once so that not everyone is focused on the new massive ship type. That could be where the “junk” ship comes in or something else.
I’d like to see an Asian themed version of each, a Viking themed version of each, and an Arabic version of each.
Also if not Bigger ships let multiple crews form together and join a server from the main menu. I’ve got 5 friends that want to play with me, and inevitably they each see me playing with someone and want to join… if I’m on a Galleon two get left out. If I’m a Brig it’s three that get left out…
It’d be cool if we could have two brigs from the get go. Also I don’t care if this is unfair to the PvP trolls who have only a few other troll friends and would struggle more at the game now, fuck those people
It's basically the same situation of you form an alliance with another crew and actively converse, it's just as "broken" so it would make perfect sense to be able to have more than 4 friends at once.
I would love it if there was a solo dedicated vessel. I am in love with the gunboat idea. A ship that is harder to board which is a killer for solo players and also a ship whose must would be raised quicker if dropped from a chainshot. It should of course have less fire power and be the slowest ship with the wind. It would make my experience much better. Fingers crossed that they add something like that :D
It would be also nice if you could change parts of the ship with just different desing, like the stern or the back of the ship
I think they have pushed the current engine as far as it can go. I would love to hear them take the lessons learned and apply them to a new engine that can handle more players and features, basically, I want them to make Sea of Thieves 2.

I believe a way the devs could implement new ships without drastically changing the game is adding variants to each ship. For example the brig, they can bring in a 3 manned ‘Junk’ that has bow and stern cannons instead of broadside and is fastest in cross winds
Or maybe for the sloop they can add another 2 man ship the ‘flute’, which on spawn has barrels that are stocked with supplies, it isn’t particularly the fastest in any category but it has gunpowder barrels/fire barrels that can be thrown off the back to deter chasers

Bro the sails work entirely different on those ship types.
It would require completely reworking how we use the sails, and what they do, ultimately making them too complex to use for the basic experience they are creating here.
Don't get me wrong, I want it to be that way. In a real sailboat doing the sails wrong can destroy them and or capsize your boat.
It would crack me the hell up to see some sweaty PVP crews in the drink because they don't bother to learn to sail.
A comment above said for the cutter to have it beat the sloop against the wind but the sloop with the wind beats the cutter. I think that's a fairly simple change for not much extra learning curve. Easy to learn, hard to master. For new players the decision is inconsequential, but for older players it adds a new strategic decision.
Isn’t that how all the ships already work? The smaller ships go faster against the wind?
there's always 1 or 2 friends out of the party because we have no more room in a galleon or a brigantine :(
Would love to have the chance for them to join even if it meant in another boat. If that is an issue with too many friends on one server then add the option to have private instances or "dangerous instances" (where people can join in alliances from the start) so we dont "conquer the server" together and ruin anyone
After seeing what they've been capable of with the Pirate's Life tall tale, I hope someday we'll eventually get a reskin of the ga-lee-on (and the other ships). I mean, the Pearl was very detailed with many different sails. Just imagine what sailing gameplay would be with more sails types.
