    Nice! Your vids are helping me. Want to see it(yours)on a dyno next! Lol. Got a similar project happening on my 06 FXT. VF30 instead though(got it free so hey). Invidia DP. Catless UP with flex. V7 STI IC. I’ll need a tune afterwards, open source maybe. Currently swapping out the old KYBs(shot) with some new ones, together with Swift springs. Upgrading rear sway bar. Replacing all links and sway bushings(shot), and the rearward lower control arm bushings(shot).

      Hi is 2010 Forrester a better option to modify,, I prefer auto only need 380whp

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mcgmhp7290 That would be a different style turbo outlet and intercooler but basically the same engine.

    Connecting the oil return hose under the turbo is a PITA...I have an 2005 XT and once I replace the turbo I'll get rid of it...( the Forester together with its turbo return oil hose)..😅

      @DIYEVERYTHING  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Get rid of it? The oil return it the car? 😆

      @@DIYEVERYTHING everything; that is, both of them…:😀I’m not a person who does not know how to hold a wrench in my hand, but stupid design is really annoying;
      one summer at 104F ambient the engine was overheating. Those turbos go bad between 100-140k no matter how frequent the oil changes…Plenty of Hondas and Toyotas with way better engines out there…The only reason I like my XT is because it has a MT.
      Thank you for taking the time and posting this video!

    You mentioned having the right size banjo bolt. How can I make sure I have the right size ? Upgrading to a vf 48 on my fxt. Thanks for the helpful videos.

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The banjo bolt is the same size but the hole drilled in the side (oil passage) is a different size but not by much. They are cheap so if you're doubting it, just buy a new one based on the turbo you're using.

    You have any fitment issues with the new turbo or Intercooler like a/c lines and such? Said banjo bolt is different than stock? Have some part numbers? Cool to see you doing this.

      Had to bend the ac lines slightly for the intercooler. The metal oil feed line for the turbo is actually what's different between the td04 and the vf39, but nothing that affects mounting or inlet- outlet locations.

    Very informative video..! How can I know if my 06 forester has the d25 heads?

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's an xt and the original motor then they are D25 heads. The only way to know for certain is to find the D25 cast into the head that is under the intake manifold and maybe the exhaust side but I can't say for sure.

    Hi! Nice film, vf52 are best than vf48?

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The VF48 and VF52 are the same turbos, but the VF52 has a different compressor housing. The VF48 is not a direct bolt-on for the 2008+ WRX due to the intercooler setup. The VF52 is a direct bolt-on for the 2008-2014 Subaru WRX and 2005-2009 Legacy GT. However, the 2008 WRX and the 2005+ Legacy GT require a custom ECU tune to account for the larger turbo.

      @@DIYEVERYTHING Thanks for your answer, I was thinking of installing it on my 2007 forester XT ej255.

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @nicolasdeugarte5681 you would want the vf48 or a vf39, which is slightly smaller but not as likely to have the waste gage cracking and will still handle up to 350hp.

    Good job but would've been even better without time lapse and with step by step like you did in your other videos!

      In previous videos, I showed removal of the up and downpipes as well as the coolant lines and turbo outlet. I just wanted to show that I had swapped the turbo as part of my project goals. Thanks for the input and I will keep it in mind in the future.

    Would it be worth it to add to a 17 touring model that never had one that came with it?

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, you would need to do a ton of work on the exhaust and intake. Probably modify the hood and then tune the ecu to accept it. The cost for only a few extra horsepower wouldn't be worth it.

    Can it fix in a outback 2012 Diesel

    • @DIYEVERYTHING
      @DIYEVERYTHING  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can it fit? Yes.
      Will it work? I don't know.
      I'm not familiar with diesel engines.
