    Funny thing, Fahrenheit actually got me into fragrance game. Still cant get enough of this scent. It smells really nice, well blended flower notes with woody and leathery base, very soft, warm and comforting scent for me. I truely dont understand how this can smell harsh to anyone.

    I absolutely think you should do more series. There's a whole lot of people who can throw lists around and make recommendations, but you know a lot and have a lot of standing with fragheads, use that to stand out!

    I love this idea. We always say "go out and sniff fragrances to see what you like", but there are so many fragrances out there, with a million Issey Miyake and JPG flankers, so it's hard to sieve through to get to the "essentials".

    • @TheGreektrojan
      @TheGreektrojan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Its nice to have a guide for people to smell all of the "genres" so to speak, to figure out what they like and then they can dive deep to find the particular fragrance in that 'genre' that they like.

    Always happy to see Ash mention Fahrenheit. I treasure my vintage bottle of it, and I'm looking forward to wearing it this winter. Watching this vid brings back my fragrance history:
    Started with Brut, then Drakkar Noir, followed by Polo Green, Fahrenheit, Egoiste and Polo Blue. My current collection is Fahrenheit, Prada L'Homme and Bleu de Chanel EDP, followed by several samples of different designers and some niche.
    Have a wonderful holiday!

    Ok Ashton I'm fairly new to the fragrance world (about 8 months) have several designer and niche fragrances. My question is you and all the other reviewers talk about the notes of a fragrance as in ambroxan vetiver patchouli etc etc etc. Where or how can a person go or do to actually smell what those individual notes smell like by themselves. I think that would definitely help a lot of beginners like myself.

    • @RayMaldonado747

      maverick003a Agreed!

    • @salgeno2849
      @salgeno2849 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      you can look Ebay for fragrance oils in those individual notes. a lot of people get their understanding from Fragrances they owned or tested. like terre d'hermes gave me the experience with vetiver. JPG Ultra Male gave me the Pear note. Sauvage gave the experience with ambroxan. after a while you well pick up these individual notes in other colognes from scent memory.Even with notes that am very accustomed with, perfumers can take those notes and mix them into something extremely unique. bringing up notes is just how youtubers try to convey a scent to you in verbal form.

    • @raulsaavedra709

      @@salgeno2849 I would do that only for the synthetic things, or the very rare or fancy natural things that one doesn't come across so easily (eg. oud, some herbs), but fruits and woods and nuts I would just start checking out the real items carefully. Which is what I've done for a few years now :) For example, just buy some real nutmeg or rosemary or cardamom or pepermint. I've always thought those on their very own could be wearable perfumes themselves, each of them is amazing and smell so wonderful on their own. Same applies to so many things out there of course: cedar, sandalwood, lavender, gardenias, etc. etc.

    I have bought recently several frangrances without smelling any of them, only based on YT reviews and I coudn't be more happy with them. They are Creed Aventus, JPG Ultra Male, Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, Aqua Di Gio, YSF Lanuit De L'Homme, A&F First Instinct, Prada L'Homme, Spicebomb Extreme, Azzaro Wanted by night edp, PDM Layton, PDM Herod and Creed Silver Mountain Water. All are just perfect! The only one, which is not very interesting to me is First instinct. So if you spend 10+ hours watching reviews, mostly Gent Scents, you won't be disappointed even without leaving home ;-)

    • @RubbelisPro

      I actually got a decant of Aventus before I decided on getting it, for about the same price as an okay clone you can get a decant of the actual Aventus without having to hold on to a 3.4 oz bottle that you might not even end up liking. Needless to say I really liked the time I spent with the Aventus decant and I ended up getting it alongside Afnan supremacy. That's just me though, not everyone is going to like it for a lot of reasons.

      Hmm...thats what generally makes date frag. Being a bit dark and intimate, because those more suited for evening time. Not too loud, not too bright. Classy. Somewhat woody, bit smokey and sweet, in my understanding. Tom Ford Noir Extreme comes to my mind when thinking of date frag. Dior Homme Intense is decent fragrance for almost every occasion, date too.

      I think you have to figure it out personally, cause the smell work best if it suit your personality, skin chemistry, appearance, image etc. Find something to compensate your weakness. If you're a very masculine person try something sweet, if you're very aggressive lifestyles find something subtle etc. I personally like 1 million complexity and Luna Ross's carbon layered with invictus legend. Just stick with something you think can compensate your weakness and the one you like the best, being unapologetic and ignore others opinion. If all things gone wrong, you'd still understand your weakness and yourself better so it's a win win situation.

    i ordered a sample vial of creed aventus and it smelled like lemon pledge. is that accurate in any way? I know the more exp the product the least likely youll get the real thing or undiluted when it comes to samplers. whats the real take on creed aventus? is it pine and bitter citrus or is it supposed to be sweet?

    When I first bought Fahrenheit I really liked the smell, however after a few wearings it gave me severe headaches. The only cologne or perfume that has ever done that to me. I had to throw it out.

    CK one is save for the beginning (clean and soapy ) ... cool water also (fresh and aquatic) . If you want more attention and power use Cool Water intense . If you want More spice and depth use Dior sauvage . More Sweetness ? use Joop Homme or JPG . If you want a more floral Ck one use Issy Maeky pour homme (don’t know how to pronounce it) it literally smells like a Flower shop ...

    Interesting to see Terre D'Hermes together with Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver, and Guerlain's Vetiver. I could see the last two clustered together, but Terre has that raw/'strong burnt orange layer that sets it quite apart completely in my opinion, as if with a lot of character and strength, purposeful. Tom Ford to me very clean and nice smelling, though slightly "flat" or safe for my taste. And Guerlain smells somewhat similar, but with a medicinal tint to it that is very off-putting for me. It strongly reminds me of a material called "alginate" used by dentists.
    Not a fan of Farenheit, and JPG Le Male is too sweet/candy smelling for me. Blue de Chanel smells great, and to me Dior Sauvage EDT is slightly better.
