I'm surprised at how advanced the models look on screen for 1988. They don't look much different than that to this day....26 years later.

This was my 8th grade year, lived a little bit south of Huntsville but we got about the same amount of snow. I-65 was closed for days. It was so eery not hearing any traffic from the Thursday night it came all the way through the weekend. I missed five days of school and no governor's state of emergency was an excuse to not make up days like it is now for all the "snowflakes" or the kids in school now. Wouldn't want to hurt their self-esteem by making them miss a spring holiday or go to school one day in May after they normally get out of school. But this was a volatile month. Two weeks later, we got out of school in the mid-afternoon because of the threat of tornados with the temperatures kept climbing after the snow melted into the 70's before the next front came through. Crazy Jan 1988 for sure.

I love watching these old clips! I hope that someone else from the Huntsville area will put up some more videos on youtube. I would especially like to see something from the grand opening of Madison Square Mall. I don't know why, but we called it the "super mall" for years. I think there was a commercial on during that time that called it the super mall. Anyway, thanks for posting!

I remember Madison Square and how awesome it seemed. Those water fountains were so cool it seemed as I was a kid. We didnt have a lot of extra money to buy much back then but just to walk around and mentally make your Christmas wish list was my game. Meet your girlfriend there and walk around holding hands and stuff when you were too young to drive. Yea, glad another mentioned that, this modern world of Amazon deliveries and no interaction much but via computer sucks. I would hate to be a kid in this modern world. I think that's why they are shooting each other at school and such. Wow, LoL, trip down memory lane. Thank you.
