My dad was a filmmaker for NASA and all critiques when we watched movies were about cuts and splices etc. Your film technique is great. Grew up in Huntsville and caved for yrs. As kids we explored the cave on Pulaski Pike containing prehistoric drawings. National Speleologic Society claimed it and it's closed off to the public, as it should be. Enjoyed this. Thanks for taking the time to create.

Hi, my Dad was one of the early Huntsville Grotto members of the NSS. Jim Johnston, was first Office Manager of the NSS Headquarters on Cave St. I caved throughout my childhood and thought I was a pretty good caver. However, the first time I went without my dad as an adult, I realized that it was not that I was a particularly good caver, but rather, I had a good Dad. All I had to do was keep up with him and do as he instructed.

I used to work for the HEMSI HART team. There are lots of caves in this area we mapped one several miles long under the river, flash floods are one of the biggest risks in the caves around here.
    Grew up in Morgan County

Excellent video. Yes the caves are underneath, and yes there are secret tunnels (man-made). One lies under the George Steele building (now Broadway Group bldg on SW corner of square). It runs to the courthouse. There's also other secret tunnels under cotton row, Papous and other bldgs. They're all still there, except blocked from entering the entire complex.

As a young fool, I ventured in that cave many times and it is larger than the map. And of course I was raised on that water in the 50's and 60's.

Grew up in Huntsville and as a child I was told a story that in the early 20th century someone robbed a bank and hid out in there. Surprised I didn’t see it in the comments already. BTW I’ve also been told there’s another entrance in the bottom of (what once was south bank) the building NW of the courthouse on that really steep hill

Rumor has it that Jesse James robbed the bank. It doesn't seem to be true though....check out the article on this page (it's the second article) ourvalleyevents.com/not-true-huntsville-legends/

@@ryanb418 TY for the link. My teacher in elementary(east Clinton) told us JJ robbed the bank and I think my gma told me early on it was a tall tale. The article on mrsBibb is fascinating as well. I grew up right next to maple hill, it’s full of interesting history.

Great vid man. I grew up in Huntsville, right downtown at the corner of Eustis Ave and Lincoln Street. I always heard that the end of the cave was right under my house. Was cool to see the map that showed this to be a fact. I am in town working on a short doc about the rocket city. If you don't mind I'd love to use a few clips from this video. Let me know if that's OK by you. By the way I graduated Hsv high. Where did you go?

This was a suggested video to me and I enjoyed it, but with all due respect, your claims about there being sewage in the water and it not being drinkable are simply not true.
    1. The water is fairly clear. If there were sewage in it then it would be very murky.
    2. There is an abundance of fish that live in the Spring Park Lake across the road, that is fed by the big spring of course. If there was sewage in the water, lack of oxygen would kill the fish due to the oxygen being depleted by bacteria decomposing the organic material.
    3. Water is drawn not far from the downtown spring site that is treated and supplied to part of the city for drinking water. If there was sewage in the water it would not be pumped to a water treatment facility for public use. It would go to a wastewater treatment facility.
The water is quite fine in fact. Just Earth’s natural raw water.
