This movie was beyond my expectations! I almost didn't watch cuz it looked so dark. But I'm glad I did. It's a masterpiece of acting by Joaquin, directing, cinematography, music... All of it! This movie will go down as one of the best films ever made, imo. For a character you're supposed to hate, it makes you feel true empathy for him cuz Joaquin is such an amazing actor... You feel is pain, his awkwardness, his despair, his love (he does), his disillusion for society, and ultimately his madness. First film I actually wanted to reach thru the screen & hug him. Even tho you don't like what he does, you UNDERSTAND. And don't we all want to be understood. It's just so epic! 💛 Thx for sharing this

When the movie was first announced I wasn't really on board, then Joaquin Phoenix was cast, and then it was confirmed to be rated R, along with two intriguing trailers. I still have some reservations about it, but I really can't wait to see it. How cool would it be for this Joker character to win the Oscar twice, once as a supporting role (Ledger), and again in the lead role (Phoenix), it might just happen.
Notice how The Character gets happier when the chaos starts, that's a Joker thing. It is also beautifully portrayed how his face lights up when he is closer and closer in becoming himself, to finally live the life as a Joker. I can already see an outstanding acting by Joaquin!

I mean yes i'm sure there are theories of Oh this just another Joker who influenced the Joker we know that fights batman, or Bruce isn't batman, etc. Its fair to say that it was Society that made One man become The Joker, not chemical waste. It is interesting they are definitely steering away from the prior stories about the Joker or his origins. Oh and also was that Zazie Beetz as his girlfriend? Everything about this film looks like it will be amazing.
