It goes without saying this was really Cinder's volume, as well as arguably being the only character who really 'won' the volume, even with her setback in being unable to claim the maiden powers
Cinder Fall is a decent example of how to make a tragic villain that you can sympathize with without making them redeemable or justifying their atrocities.
You know this volume played with making Cinder sympathetic, showing her past, having her breakdown after Watts's rant, and her seemingly becoming kinder to Neo and Watts, only for the the finale to yank the rug out from under that, to show that beneath it all Cinder is still ultimately a selfish, evil person.
She carried this volume for me. Next to maybe Penny, she was probably the most crucial character this year. Jessica did amazing and I’m excited to see what Cinder does next whenever we see her next, whether that be V9 or 10.
I just love how the writers turned Cinder into a dark horse this volume. The heroes, the military, heck, even the audience was downplaying and making fun of Cinder. Everybody was so sure that it would either be RWBY & co. vs Ironwood or RWBY & co. vs Salem in the end. But in true Cinder fashion, she outsmarted and outplayed EVERYBODY. RWBY & co., Ironwood, Watts, Neo and you can also say Salem. I’m excited to see where her character goes next. All I can say is, I’m glad that the old Cinder is back.
As satisfying as it was to listen to Watts tear into her, it ultimately back fired as it seems to have convinced Cinder to at least partially return to her Volume 1 to 3 MO where she relied more on psychological warfare, sabotage, and timing her strikes for maximum effect as opposed to simply trying to brute force her way through everyone and everything which she defaulted to after the Fall of Beacon. Next to Salem, she is the most dangerous person in Remnant and if anyone has any brains, they will kill her as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
One of my favorite things about this show is seeing the progress; I love watching the voice acting, the animation, and the story improve more and more every volume. Jessica’s performance as cinder has gone from one of the weaker roles in the show to one of my favorites, it’s just incredible to watch!

Cinder was the main character this volume and I loved every second of it
I love her, she's a Godawful human being yet still has an elemant of tragedy to her
