I would LOVE to be publishing a video a week and two blog posts weekly... perhaps you have some automation/outsourcing ideas? Feel free to email me with your thoughts. Rachel@stonecottagehome. I look forward to hearing from you! 😊
I’m so sorry you had to tear into things to fix the problem. I’m freaking out because we redid our small bathroom during Covid because it was leaking. What a huge mess not to mention, the only tile that came close to matching our floors was marble. Can I say avoid marble at all costs. Anyway, it’s leaking into the hall again. We’ve babied that shower. Someone said maybe it needs to be grouted again but the tile was installed with not much of a grout line. I don’t know what to do. Not to mention the original cost of installing it. I could just cry but I don’t know what to do about it. Anyway, everything looks beautiful and I hope you enjoy your guests. ~ Janet 😘
Good morning, Miss Janet! I'm sorry to hear the plumbing woes, but as you know, these things are part of home ownership. And who knows, you might come up with a creative solution!
Hi Miss Rachel, I love barkeepers friend! Discovered it last year. It does an excellent job on stainless steel sinks and the plug wastes. I'm hoping to use the gel form on my old brass bed soon. Have a lovely week everyone 😊
Good afternoon Miss Catherine! Yes, all is well! We are enjoying family time and working on several projects small and large. Thanks for checking in on us. I hope your summer has gone well!
Such an encouraging video♥️ You described my aversion to cleaning to a “t!” I’m going to try your suggestions about tackling things in a more efficient manner. Thank you for your sweet spirit in your videos💕
You never disappoint! ❤ Loved every minute, and amen to all the lovely comments... I'll remember and was affected positively for your beautiful sentiment, " do the best with what you have" . I surely do envy your peaches! God Bless you both.❤❤❤
I typically don't care for blue and white transferware. I prefer green, brown and red, but I absolutely love the octagonal style you have throughout your house! About a year ago I found a huge platter (18x14in) of that style for $10 at my local antique store, and it's not a reproduction! It has beautiful staining and crazing which I adore! I had is packed away as I was afraid of it falling off the wall if I hung it, but you inspired me to find an appropriate wall hanger and hang it above my stove. We are not in the type of house I'd like to be and there are many visually unappealing things, but now every time I'm in my kitchen I get to look at my gorgeous platter!
Hello Rachel ! Always enjoy your videos and I wonder if you’re ok since it’s been a while since you’ve posted new videos ! In the meantime I rewatch your videos and get inspired for my own home 🙏 take care!
Hello, there! Still alive and kickin'! Thanks for checking in on me. We've enjoyed some extended family time, plus working on several projects (that hopefully will launch in time for Christmas). Thank you for being a loyal supporter!
I was wondering how long you can keep butter on the counter , and not refrigerator? Oh my goodness. I know , from experience how horrible plumbing issues can be. And I am on a cement slab for 52 years. Thankfully , my problem was in the front yard. Its fixed but crazy money... literally down the drain. haha. Watching you clean the copper pot in your porcelain sink... to prevent scratches... I keep a square of that waffle cabinet liner under my sink. I put it in the bottom of the sink whenever I am cleaning pots and pans. The bathroom gallery wall is so pretty. but that window is everything!!!!!!
Wow....Bar Keepers Friend did an awesome job on your copper items! Is that the same tea pot I tried to shine up for you a few years ago? I love the arrangement in your hall bathroom and your peaches are delicious!! As for that plumbing project, I don't think there is anything that Matt can't do. Love you guys!!!🥰🥰
Rachel, thank you for such a peaceful video in your home. It's a stressful time for my family and it's not been a fun summer. I will work on being grateful for the beautiful things I have around me. Was recently feeling overwhelmed with upcoming houseguests and my cluttered home. I got started and it took a couple days, but then my home was much improved. Just begin and don't focus on the long journey.
The timing of the message in this video was perfect as a reminder of the tricks I use to get through a lot of mind-numbing jobs 😂. It's a busy time and I'm tired. My job list is on the table, and I've stared at it for 10 minutes. I've cleared the clutter from the room I'm working in and opened the windows. The radio is playing fun music. I went for a bath, put clean, comfortable clothes on, a little makeup and perfume. Can't say I'm overjoyed to start the list but I feel more human. Great video. X
Oh I’ve used bar keepers friend for yrs, it’s great stuff! My approach to housekeeping is this. If I have dishes to wash I’m grateful because I have food to eat. If I have laundry to wash I’m grateful because I have clothes to wear. As long as I look at it in a different perspective of what I have that so many others don’t it’s not drudgery. My peach tree is loaded but the nectarine tree froze when it was full of blossoms so none this yr. Have a blessed weekend!
As always, this was another lovely video of your home and heart. I use the liquid cream version of Bar Keepers to clean brass and copper. It always works nicely on porcelain sinks and tubs too. Thank you for sharing your time and home 🏡.
Oh Rachel what a delightful relaxing video even though it was quite busy! Your words of encouragement on tackling least favorite & sometimes overwhelming jobs were much needed as we’ve been trying to keep our home “manageable” while our family room is being enlarged..i’m so tired of plastic hanging in the doorway and constant dust!! I’m a fan of copper also and have used barkeepers friend but did not know it could be used on copper.. will definitely use it next time.. Your bathroom gallery wall is one of my favorites☺️ Those peach preserves look wonderful and did I spot some sourdough starter on the counter? I baked 2 loaves of bread just a few days ago.. even with the heat here in Ky it was worth it.. it always calms me to bake. Sorry I have not responded to your request for input on future videos of organizing & planning.. I would love a video on how to get started with the process organizing/ reorganizing an area .. especially the kitchen.. where to start is one of my biggest issues! Anyway thanks for a perfect video at the end of a LONG week.. Blessings to you and Matt. Your Ky friend, Belinda
I completely understand! We are working towards remodeling our garage conversation, and finding places for the stuff has been challenging! Hang in there, it will all be worth it. 😀 Yes! You did spot a sourdough starter. Matt has been making sourdough for a while now. Thank you for the feedback on kitchen organization, it's very helpful! You have a blessed weekend, too!
Such a sweet way to begin the video with the lovely surprise lilies...the music you selected for the opening went well with the viewing of the lilies...I appreciate the helpful tip concering the polisihing of copper...I have quite a bit that needs a good going over. How fortunate you are to have harvested peaches from your own tree and then to be able to "put them up" as one of my Aunts would say. I am so sorry you and Matt had to experience such a detailed plumbing problem...great day in the morning....but happy that it has been resolved. Thank you for sharing your time, talents and helpful ideas with us....All the best....Melanie Fay

Always lovey to,see you Rachel. I polish my silver every fall before the holidays get started. I use it as a time to be grateful to own such beautiful things rather than see it is a chore. When I have an overwhelming project to do I “back into” the job by just doing one thing or sometimes start in the middle. By just doing one thing to prep the job then I start the momentum but allow myself to stop at any moment. This summer I was making some armchair covers for my niece. Hello!
My copper has only had tiny spots of green, which I have scraped off then polished over. Hope that helps
PLEASE use gloves when using Barkeepers Friend, it is a wonderful cleaner, but it contains oxalic acid. Oxalic acid can cause ulcers on your skin and has even been known to cause gangrene.
Thanks for the tip!
