I think the ending could be a merging of timelines. The definition of double exposure: “the repeated exposure of a photographic plate or film to light, often producing ghost images.” So holding two images up so they morph into a single photo….
They said in their LiS: DE Reveal livestream that you get to pick which ending from LiS 1 you chose, if each timeline adheres to each ending then there’d be no point in having that choice presented. Plus I think they specified that the two timelines are *identical* from one another besides the death if Safi so everything between the timelines have the same base
There is a gamescom interview that came out recently that mentioned Max can eventually bring what she needs over from another timeline. She starts off shifting herself and then eventually can shift other things that happen to be in the same space from the other timeline at will. I think that part with the detective could be Max shifting his other self over to help solve the murder. Or at the very least listening to them both through her pulse power and relaying the information to each side.

People found her va on instagram and she posted on her story sth like “this is my character in the new list game! her name is Loretta Rice” and attached the picture of the “fake” Rachel. I still really hope that it is in fact Rachel
interesting tidbit i learned a while back is that in BTS (i think in the dressing room where the drama club is), there is a poster in the bg when you're talking to rachel that just says "loretta," so i mean...it's probably a crazy coincedence, but i 'm gonna hold onto my rachel delusion with a vice grip LMAO..
There shouldn’t be a canon ending in Life is Strange tbh. I have a theory that if you sacrificed Arcadia Bay, Max will bring up that a few years ago Chloe accidentally killed someone while protecting Max from an angry person trying to hurt Max. Maybe there can be a scene where Max visits her at the prison!

You have given me hope for Double Exposure! I was very disappointed in Before the Storm because of how it failed to play to the original games plot, and I just did not like True Colors. But, there might be hope for this new game yet!

So there’s one thing I had to clear up and another that I want to share my thoughts on. the name of the cop in the trailers is named “Vince Alderman” and the way that the trailers are showing him off, is that they imply he’s going to be antagonistic towards Max as he’s most likely the head detective looking into safis murder. I don’t believe that the detective will be safis killer, I believe that while he’ll serve as an antagonist for most of the games runtime, that his role here will probably be similar to Davids role in LIS1, the a$$hloe guy who doesn’t like Max but will turn out to be good by the end. Also it’s that’s not Rachel amber. It’s confirmed to be a character named loretta rice and will be voiced by a new actress.

I really liked how in lis2 the ending depends on how you treaded Daniel and I would do something familiar in double exposure. Idk what Exactly but maybe Max’s relationship with people living in the town? If they are good then after merging the timelines both Safi and Chloe are alive (Good/True ending) And if they are bad then after merging both timelines both of them are dead (Bad ending) I know that they won’t do anything even similar to this tho lol. It’s a shame that they are making this game so other people who never played lis1 can play it without being spoiled, I feel like it really limits what they can actually do in this game.

Like just think for a sec… the character shown in the new game DE that looks like Rachel Amber and in the comic series she’s alive and meets Max and practically them and Chloe live together! And let her know she’s going to end up back at the dark room anyway.. unless people can interpret that to me differently. I see it as that variant of Jefferson knows everything. Somehow. To me it wouldn’t be hard. Jefferson, would just have to be nearby. When Max enters a photograph. The reason why Jefferson would kill. Sophie instead of Max. Is because he wants to make her suffer.
What if it's Moses cuz in the sneek peek gameplay footage you saw him next to safi's body but it looked like he was checking on her. I think it could be moses cuz in true colors jed betrays alex and she trusted him like a friend and so people wouldn't think its moses since him and max seem close. And double exposure seems similar to true colors with how its a "murder mystery" so the killer in double exposure has to be close to max like how in true colors jed was close to alex although jed didn't kill gabe.. idk just a theory
Their was also a picture in the Caledon University trailer where it shows max in a room. That looks extremely similar to the dark room or a new dark room. So she probably gets trapped in it at some point meaning that jefferson Has to probably be the Killer!

It could also be depending on the choice you made at the end influences the importance if the characters. So say if you sacrifice chloe she might just have less of a presence but her life in the town takes more if a center stage, so you may get more of "the town supported me in my final year of high-school". Say if the town was sacrificed her life there has less of a presence but chloe does so you may get this "chloe supported me in my last year of high-school."
Considering fire, I actually always thought that Rachel had more of an elemental magic as opposed to a weather controlling magic. She seems to be able to control the different elements from fire to water to air.

Rachel and Loretta don’t share the same VA. Her VA also confirmed that Rachel and Loretta are two different characters
