Lloydyboi I agree with you that its better to complete Duviri before the new war, and I also get when you say that some parts of the story might still be confusing, that is why I would like to recommend you (after completing whisper in the wall quest) to see some vids from a youtuber called Dsiege, he does an excellent job breaking down the lore and connecting events that do not look connected at all. The Operator’s expressions during the Drifter’s explanation were absolutely perfect and what I imagine everyone was feeling
Natah is who she was. A sentient, a weapon, a spy sent to end the Orokin.
Lotus is who she became. Molded by the Orokin, filling the role of a mother.
Margulis is who Ballas saw in her. His lost love, the one he himself executed.
I chose margulis for what she meant to the tenno as a whole she was the mother they didnt have and needed.

So the hand that gets lopped of lotus at the beginning of new war is the same hand that falls in front of the drifter in the duviri paradox. Meaning that the events of the duviri Quest happen kinda in the middle of the new war. The Cannon choice is to leave duviri which is how the drifter comes to the aid of lotus. It's kinda neat xD
It's also the same hands that Man in The Wall shakes with you in the Zariman restrospect :P
30:53 The reason it has an exclamation mark is because it was a crit level above that of a red crit. Instead of chancing colours they add an exclamation mark to clarify what level of crit you have.

The Ying yang is not Japanese where it's good and evil but day and night energy of Taoism.
Day energy is masculine, warmth, harsh, passionate and emotional.
Night Energy is feminine, cold, logic, comfort, soothing.

@@yaboiLloydy there's also a very very good reason why wally is missing a finger. If you go to deimos, and go to the necralisk. Make sure you've finished the Heart of Deimos quest, and then go to Loid while in your operator form. If you level up his syndicate standing, you'll get some lore/story from Entrati about the man in the wall and why he's missing a finger. And it's quite important.

the "who the hell is he?" from not doing paradox first was the point lol. Back when New War released Duviri paradox didn't exist yet. So that was the intended reaction lol. Those of us who had seen the trailer for Duviri like... 4 years before however, could kinda guess. Even now though, people who have done both still misunderstand exactly what the drifter and paradox are. To be honest I like it that way. A little bit of uncertainty with no clear answers keeps the lore of the universe interesting. A little bit of mystery is something more writers could stand to include in games and tv shows.
Blured markings at the edge of the map that compell us to explore further, that's the kind of world building I love in games

oh yeah i forgot, i think this is the quest where you finally discover the lore reason why they're called "tenno": they were all trapped on the zariman 10-0 (ten-oh) and were victims of the accident that gave the their void powers. THe actual reason they're called tenno is a reference to Hayden Tenno, the protagonist of darksector, one of DE's previous games
Something I really liked about this quest is how the central theme of this first arc is around trauma and how the Tenno and other characters deal with it.
Awakening, to stolen dreams, a man of a few words, the new strange, natah, second dream, the war within, chains of harrow, sacrifice, and the new war draws the story of dealing with trauma. from the initial shock of your awakening prize and stolen dreams, being followed but a new strange and your second dream: not of what you are, but who you want, wish, or hope to be. rounding off your war within, harrowing chains, inevitable sacrifice, and the new war to finally face, reconcile, and heal.
The antagonists really add an additional layer by being the mirror of you suffering something similar but taking it worse. Vor wishing his awakening to be as liberating as yours, Tyl Regor when his dreams of his tube-men and his future are stolen and then lashing out after losing everything, chroma in the new strange trying to do everything to cover up new forbidden knowledge to keep himself safe, and stalker/hunhow still disassociated individuals following through the actions and acting out in denial of the past to try to get some of it back. Teshin struggling with his war within against the queens rule with what he is and what he can do , rell unable to unchain himself from his manic obsession over his trauma, umbra being unable to sacrifice a key part of him, his only memory, to find peace, and ballas blinded still and consumed by what he wanted to see.
Shock of our awakening, denial of our stolen second dreams once we where awake, anger at our war within, bargaining with the chains that tie us down, depression upon the sacrifice of what was true, and acceptance of what happened and now.
1:14:05 Black and white doesn't represent good and evil in this game. White(sun) is a passion/anger/"listen to your heart" choice, while black(moon) is calculated/calm/"think it through" choice.

1:16:25 For us doing quests in the order they came out, it was a different kind of fun. Drifter didn't come out of nowhere, personally i thought he was the Operator just grown up in the years between him cast into the void and returning to get rid of the Narmer. It was a nice twist that he wasn't us but older, but he kinda was. I liked it that way. So everyone has their own tastes i guess.
There's some degree of subjectivity, but I think there's more that doesn't make sense if you play Duviri first; this quest tells you who the drifter is, they're a version of you that was left on the Zariman. In Duviri you have the unexplained magic hand, you don't know who or how the drifter is, much of the Undercroft doesn't make sense etc
I think it does confuse alittle more, but I think seeing the references and connections the other way makes it better imo
The choices are not good-neutral-bad, they're Sun-neutral-Moon.
For those of us playing as these things came out, we had no choice, we could not play the Duviri Paradox first, and piecing together that the Drifter was the Operator was one of the most exciting parts of the quest. I am glad you enjoyed it the way you did, but I'll still recommend people do this before Duviri.
This is actually last main quest that has sentients as major factor, their storyline is finished, now its time to explore the eternalism, past of Albrecht Entrati and Man in the Wall even more
I like the mention that doing Duviri's Paradox quest made it make more sense. It is one of the more recent additions to the story, so perhaps the comments to do it after is because many of us were in the dark about some of that info and created a special revelation when we finally got it. They want the same experience for you, perhaps.

I just went to sit by my wife all shattered, like after the Second Dream. I'll just end by saying her perception about storytelling in games has shifted greatly in the 20 years we've been together. 😉

Heh I was waiting for you to upload this after watching the last video. This quest was amazing. I didn't play it in one sitting and dragged it on quite a bit because the railjack part was hard with an under developed railjack. Ever since, I've played a lot more railjack missions. That aside, the part where they let us choose between Natah, Lotus and Margulis was something nice. Personally, I chose Lotus because she was basically the one that we actually know. She's the one who cared for us all this while. And also, she took on the form of Lotus when she took the energy of the final Archon Shard from Ballas, so I just felt it was more natural for me to go with Lotus. Again, it was a nice quest and it was a nice video you uploaded. Cheers!

When I first heard of the Man in the Wall, I thought it was like the whole "I am in your walls" thing, like he was in the "wall" between the void and real space.
Then he shows up. I wasnt expecting him to BE the wall!

The whole dynamic between the Tenno, Margulis, Ballas, and the Lotus is a play on the system of abuse and it's extremely powerful when you peel off the sci-fi layers.
Also, the vocal delivery of every Voice Actor in this quest deserves much more recognition.
Also, when you choose the Drifter for the final act there's a special animation in the orbiter of them messing up transference in the Warframes! A really neat attention to detail.
And wait a second, I thought Paracesis was mandatory for the New War?
Something you need to understand is that there is no "good" or "evil" in those decisions.
The black is a dark storm with tsunamis, yes... but the white is a raging inferno of flames.

And the graphics have become so good they give final fantasy a rival in how good the graphics have become! I genuinely love warframe for what it is and i hope to continue playing for many more years to come!!! I'm curious as to where we are headed story wise, but it looks like gigantic things are coming! I'm just a big fan of this channel and I can see so much potential and I'm very happy for his success.
Also theres an official warframe comic book that explains what the Unum and the tower is. SPOILERS: The tower is an ancient orokin space station that crashed into the earth during the old war. An ancient human village girl was heavily injured during the old war, and Mag brought her into the tower for shelter. Her condition was critical so the lotus and mag had no choice but to upload her consciousness into the tower. She has become the protective mother of Cetus now.
Also idk if you noticed but warframe is a biopunk world. Alot of the orokin stuff is made from biological materials. Even the swords and guns have fleshy bits and neuron brains. Even the "robots" the corpus use have biological components.
Before playing Whispers in the Wall, I'd highly highly recommend looking up Albretch Entrati requiem lore on TH-cam. You could grind out the Necroloid to hear the story in game, but it's easier to look up the whole story on TH-cam. It's basically the story of how the first scientist discovered the Man in the Wall, and the details laid out in that story is very important, though still vague and cryptic as one would expect. Still it's worth experiencing, if not for the amazing voice acting.

Ah yes the Gaslight prime
Crits change color dependent on level. Yellow are normal crits under 100% crit chance on the weapon. Orange are the level higher, at over 100% crit chance. Red are the highest at over 200% crit chance. I believe crit damage is also boosted at these intervals. Crit builds, well- build, upon this principle by getting crit chance to 200% and getting the crit multiplier and base damage as high as possible. Theoretically the numbers become so big, armor doesnt matter.
The Nataruk has a sort of "Perfect Draw" mechanic that boosts its crit chance like a mf. It is by far the easiest weapon to red crit with. By pulling back and releasing at the right time you get the perfect draw and the max damage.
The Drifter's Sirocco pistol has a "Reactive Reload" mechanic where reloading and pressing the reload button again when the bar is in the small section at the bottom will instantly complete the reload and boost the next shot's damage.
Theres meat in the tower in Cetus because Sentients can hack any and all tech, but they cant manipulate biological matter so the Orokin used flesh and blood to make weapons and fortifications. Thus why Warframes too arent mechanical but actual people.
Now with Ballas out of the way its time to figure out what this Man in the Wall wants.
So the drifter was a version of you that wasn't rescued from the Zariman and that tickles my imagination so bad. There are stories to be told, hell there is a whole survival game in a super unique setting lurkiing there. Not to mention other characters, we've seen alter-teshin, I wanna see an Ordis where his madness won, Vey Hek where is an actual maggot, a system where Grineer stole the necromech tek and made grinecromechs.
Just to clarify that the Teshin we see in the Duviri not a different version of Teshin, but its actually our Teshin that was always our ally and that we played as in the new war. After he was hurt by Erra and left for dead, his body was sucked up into the void portal that both the Lotus, her Hand and the operator fell through. Teshin ended up landing in Duviri, where he was recued and nursed back to health by Mathila. You can learn about this if you find and read the Duviri fragments.

Also as a fun fact, the way that the Drifter's story differs from the operators is quite fascinating. In one of the many zariman tablets scattered all over the ship, one of them implies that, because of eternalism, (where both/all outcomes of a decision exist/are possible), in the instance where the operator accepted a deal to save every child in the zariman while at the same times giving them void powers, another possible outcome became just as real, which was the drifter's reality, where every child BUT HIM was rescued, (through unknown means as the Drifter's Zariman never left the void until the start of the angels of the Zariman quest. Also that makes the zariman that we explore in game, not the operator's original Zariman, but actually the drifter's zariman, though they are both exactly the same). As a way to cope with being alone in a derelict ship, drifting throught a hazardous dimension filled with crazy non-sense, the Drifter turned to the Tales of Duviri story, (written by Mother of the Entrati family for this very purpose), as a coping mechanism. The thing about the void though is that when it is exposed to strong emotion, it does very weird things, like, Conceptual Embodiment. which was how the Drifter brought, unintentionally, to life the Country of Duviri. He then leaves the Zariman and lives in duviri for a lot of years, being jubjected to Dominux Thrax' time loops every day, until the Duviri Paradox starts and he gets out eventually, right in the middle of the new war.

Tau is the solar system that the Orokin initially sent the Sentients to terraform for colonization. Supposedly they succeeded in their task and made it into a paradise, but the Sentients decided that handing it over to the same people who ruined the Origin System was a bad idea, leading to their rebellion and the Old War.
Hey, its me again, this time on the second video, rediscovering the quest and pointing out random details I missed the first time around. (expect multiple edits as i make my way through this video, its super late and i need sleep....)
The juxtaposition of Narmar's "All is one" vs the Zariman pledge "In this, we are one" is extremely profound and deserves a video essay, not a comment. Just amazing writing once again.
The voice on the tablet teaching "Temporal Axioms - Unit 6: The principles of Linier Time." is "Mother" from the Diemos Entrati Syndicate. (NOT a coincidence in my opinion but i dont have any definite confirming information).
edit1: a 50/50 light/dark player, respect. I only have one tendril peeking in bc i chose not to drink the kuva in The Sacrifice iirc. (not sure if thats good or bad tbh) But maybe that makes me 69/31 and i cant argue with that.
edit2: 34:47 I didn't mention it in the first video because it was more of a passing statement, ("Start the ship, smartass!"), but I really felt extremely connected to the characters when they started using words like this. Allowing the operator and Drifter to swear has done a lot to humanize these characters in my mind, at least compared to characters from other games I've played; where a lot of legwork has had to be put in by other departments and writing styles to achieve the same effect. (thank god for the M rating or they would have had to tone it down. The negative publicity of changing a game's rating from T to M is often worse than adding swearing to a game that had been M since release imo.)
edit3: Amazing scene between the Operator and Drifter aside, I think the best lines "What, the hell!?" and "TeArInG bAlLiS iN hAlF!" just speak the mind of anyone llaying this quest. Although I have a feeling anyine who completed the full Duviri Paradox have a MUCH better handle on the Drifter's vague answers than most. In fact, if you pick the Drifter, (as I did), there's a line during the final fighelt where they say "Uhhhgh, I should've stayed in Duviri." With all the torment they went through, the constant death and resurrection, the apathy towards exisrance prior to finding the Lotus's severed hand, then the LONG and treacherous journey out guided by Teshin But Not Really(TM), ALL of that is better than fighting against Ballas to the Drifter. (How often does the comfort of the mundane blind and numb us to the importance of the real fight taking place somewhere we cant see?)
edit4: 56:40 Jankfram to be sure. This quest has SO many moving parts, that ensuring the skybox matches, (while extremely important for immersion), isn't something a QA tester with 5k hours would notice as they blitz through the quest (and orbiter) at mach 50.
edit5: they hand you Erra's apology, (and request for help), at *just* the right moment.
Not too soon for you to think he's still an enemy, not too late for there to be no hope. (no hope being another video-essay-worthy topic), but right when you are ready to make the right choice in the moment, no stress, few worries, Nechramech in hand, ready to take on the entire universe and God himself if he dained to appear. But he HAS appeared. In the form of Ballas. And if the enemy of my enemy is my friend, than Erra is the closest friend I have in that moment, and I will follow him unto the end if necessary.
edit6: 59:10 I wish that "Thank you" had been a "I forgive you" followed by a thank you from Erra. Far more emotional impact and meaning in my book than a "thx bye" and walking away. (forgiveness deserves 100 videos essays but no one talks about it these days... 😢)

Well, now you know why I sunken almost 1k hours in this game. The game is good, the monetization is good, but the story and world, those are amazing. 1999 hype now \o/

The end took me by surprise. I would have thought it would be as a crazy reveal to you as for me (I couldn't play Duviri before, because it wasn't out), but maybe the Drifter being somewhat relatable helps here more.

A tip for the bow and the sidearm like thing for the drifter, for the bow if you release the trigger between the two lines in the crosshair, it's a perfect shot. For the side arm if you press reload and then press it again in between the lines in your crosshair it overcharges your next shot.

The Sun/Moon dial isn't an indicator of good/bad. We actually don't know what the significance of the dial or the choices are yet.
To be honest the New War was a traumatic experience. You get hit with the sneaking around I wish I had Ash to breeze through. Then right after that its the Archons and Amar I have a vendetta against. But the pure rage I have for making me fight in my barely upgraded Railjack got me messed up. Amazing quest tho that was worth the wait. It would have been a 30$ dlc any other game.
You can switch between drifer and operator interchangeably in the arsenal and still use your powers

1:16:20 Yeah, I have a whole rant saved about how New War Suffered from a pretty glaring pacing issue, but at the same time, I also quite liked a lot of the choices and lore that were introduced here. I like it a lot (apart from the Drifter Archon fights, those suck ass).
The alignment choices are not good vs bad but more like a daoist choice of yin vs yang light vs dark. This way the middle choice is the "good" option but it is more about personal reflection

I think that The Duviri Paradox should be saved for after you complete Once Awake or The War Within as not to spoil the reveal of The Operator.
Its a new quest tha opens after the new war that continues the grenier guy saga. It is called vailbreaker. Its realy fun i don t know if you want to do it

Being absolute shite with stealth games, I ragequit so many times over those New War stealth sections XD
And having maximized my Railjack, that section was just laughably easy, average enemy dwell time probably around one second.
This quest kinda gave me further impression and insight that hunhow is a better father than most father figure characters 😅
I went with Drifter since the drifter seems more Mature and Cold, more fit for a rescue operation lol
then there's me who religiously skips every cutscene to get through the quests faster 😂

I think there are arguments to be made for every single choice in the end:
Natah is who she was and you could make the argument that she tried to lie to herself that that's not who she is - but Natah wanted Children of her own and thus protected us, so maybe it's not a bad thing to have her realize that she is Natah and that that's fine.
The Lotus is who she become for us, to be the Mother we needed after Margulis had died and thus maybe that is her true self - the person she became out of love for us.
Margulis is who she wanted to be and tried to become, even falling for Ballas in the process, just as Margulis herself did. This would probably be her choice of who to become.
I personally think that if i could do this whole thing again after loosing my memory but i could tell myself in which order to do it, i would tell myself to do it in release order, with Duviri after The New War, simply because i feel that the Drifter and their Origin are meant as a surprise that gets undermined somewhat by playing the paradox first.

The Choices aren't Good/Neutral/Evil, they're actually Compassion/Balanced/Aggressive.
