One reason I keep coming here is 1- your videos are great and I learn a ton!! 2- because you are not a slicked up talker, it is more like I am just sitting around yakking with my buddies about fishing! If I was to use a "marketing term" it would be that you are "authentic" and that scores high with me! As always great video!
You nailed it. I love that the videos are informative but not super lengthy. It’s just a regular guy letting other regular guys (or gals) tips to help catch fish. Great job Tyler! Seriously your one of my favorite channels for sure. 👍🏼
Hey Tyler, To echo what others noted, the way you 'chat' to to the camera is one of the big reasons I love learning from you. Even when you may feel like you are struggling for the right words, you do a great job conveying the lesson to us...and I appreciate it. Love this new channel!
A young guy who loses words... priceless. At almost 69, that makes me feel younger, thank you. I used to live in the Columbus area and knew a lot of great fishing spots. After retirement, almost 12 years ago, I now get to fish more during the day. I'm going somewhere here; working in Columbus from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday, morning and evening was the time to go, and although weekends afforded afternoon fishing, what I knew as hot spots were over crowded. So... now I get to fish all day long if I want to, and because of that, I've learned that my biggest fish are in that time frame you speak of. I live and fish in Southern Ohio, mostly small creeks. There's nothing like fishing with no one around weekdays and weekends. That's hard to do in large metro areas.
I'm in FL and have caught most of my bigger fish around 2pm, even bright, sunny days. There's less water to fish, like you're saying. Under a little bush, under a dock, under an over hanging tree branch.... I have had the same experience. One other good couple spots around that time is in eel grass or under mats.
you are doing just fine, more than fine , with your presentations, ... we all lose words here and there when discussing things we are passionate about keep up the good work your are doing, appreciate your dedication, dilligence and educating your fellow fishermen. TYVM
Predictable.....During the summer and peak of the sun, the fish seem to be very predictable. You know they're gonna be in shade pockets and the shade pockets are a lot smaller because the high sun. I think that's what you're saying and I totally agree.
No doubt fish cruise shallow water in the morning & evening so they are easier to catch if you fish then. But to catch them at other times you just have to follow them. They will always eat if the opportunity presents itself. The moral of my comment is just go fishing and enjoy figuring it out.
Totally agree. I used to only focus at dawn/dusk, but realized it was more because the fish are up in areas I can see (like shoreline). It gave me targets to cast at and the fish just happened to be there early and late.
I’ve found I catch almost all the bass I’ve caught in the double digit range have been at 11:00 A.M. it’s been like that for years for me. I do tear them up in the early morning as well. That 3:00 time frame I’ve gotten some lunkers too but I’m usually not out that late as I get up super early to be on the water by day light.
They always put the major and minor times to fish during the weather on the local news and I've noticed something about that, the best days with 3 and 4 stars are always between 10 and 2 day and night. I used to really go by that alot, but let me tell you it's crap! From my experience it's just like Tyler said, they usually bite early shallow and then by say 9 am they start slowly moving out to the mid range depths and then by 12-3 they either go deep or go for shade or cover. Then by 4 til dark they start moving back in shallow again. You can catch them all day if you understand what they are doing bc they will bite all day long if you can follow them
When the water is cold as hell there is a early bite and I agree with 2:30 being another North side of the lake sunny or cloud cover one lake in particular you can set the alarm on your phone to it ! It's crazy
I’ve noticed this too. I catch more numbers in the morning but the better bites are normally during the early to mid afternoon. Greatly enjoy the channel and the information you put out. Thanks and keep it coming.
My 3 biggest bass have all been in the afternoon right around that 1-3pm range! Then all the other big ones have been in the evening. I don’t fish the morning a ton, as I haven’t had much luck with big ones yet first thing in the morning.
I would agree. Expand that time frame to 12-3 and it applies to all fish in my experience. I’ve caught the most 4-5lb bass, 11lb trout, 20-25lb salmon Al within that time table
I fish a lot of really clear water. In the summer, It’s not uncommon to have to fish down in 40 FOW under big boulders when the sun is high. As the sun moves, you can shift your boat around the boulder as the shade moves. +1 on the WooHoo crowd.
Tyler… I just want to let you know how much I enjoy this new channel and format. Many times I don’t have time to dive into a long video so this is very useful and to the point. That being said I look forward to some longer videos on the HQ channel as well when more time is needed to cover a topic. Would love to see what you have to offer for bank fishermen as well! Take care…
Pretty good. Ohio here. 7am - 11:30 am trolling for crappie/walleye. Leave at 12 noon. Sometimes the bite kicks off again around 1pm. But since cooler is always full and fish have to be cleaned......
I fish a lot of club tournaments with my grandpa and recently I have noticed that the morning at around 7 to 8 even 9 is great for fishing but as soon as it hits 10 or 11 the bite turns off and its hard to catch bass. However, at around 1 to 3 when the tournament is almost done, the bite turns on hard. So in this video you are correct in my opinion.
Caught my PB spot this winter at 1:20PM ha ha. Seems like most of the fish have been in that afternoon window. Also gave the water time to warm up a degree or 2. Agree on the summer pleasure boater timing. Spent a lot of time last year with my legs in the surfing position waiting for the next wakeboard boat to go by. Good thing is the bass either don’t care or have gotten used to it. I’ll have to pay more attention to the timing this spring and summer.
Indeed, true brother. I've caught some really nice smallies during 1pm and 3pm. I've gone to ultra light because it's easier to handle. As I've gotten older, my joints in my shoulders knees wrists and back and elbows aren't what they once were. With that said that's why I've gone lighter rods and reels. I'll fish the very edge of a grass pile. I know I won't be able to pull a moderate size fish through 50lbs of grass or brush. That's why I'll throw say a 1/32 or 1/16oz crappie jig with white grub near grass. Not in the grass. I'll still pull in nice smallies or large mouth.
I only fish ponds, but even with that I’ve noticed prime times. Sun up and sun down naturally, but also early afternoon from 1 PM to 5 PM seem to be prime times. But as another subscriber said, just get out there and fish !!!
As always, great info. Even when it is something I've noticed before, it's always great to have you confirm my beliefs. But 99% of your videos are pure education for me.
All my fish lately have been caught around 2 in the afternoon. Can't catch crap in the morning for some reason. Catch plenty after noon in the bright sun.
I live up in Washington…higher latitudes longer days…but I really feel like the bite slows way down after the afternoon. So to me, it’s always hard to stay until the late late bite when you’re out they’re all day and it’s 7pm and they haven’t bit since around 430pm.
When I met you at the Columbus fishing expo, I bought that exact Finn shirt. I didn’t get a pair of free gloves. 😂 Thanks for taking time to talk and sign my shirt
I watched a bass move along the edge of a dam with a little piece of built up wall the other day. I was looking there as this was the "shade side" of the pond. Except it was almost tmid day and there was only like a 2 oe 3 inch wide strip of shadow.... Surely enough this quite big bas almost invisibly stuck to the band of shadow... exactly where you would think it would be.
Light penetration and warmth make Walleye go "down to the basement" to literally chill out. I suspect bass are similar except that bass like the water much warmer. I would also suspect downsizing at that time makes sense. If they caught something in the morning, they likely sit around and digest it. But if something comes past them and it is: 1) smaller and 2) different, they might have a snack. Its been a walleye trick for years. If you just had a huge dinner and you had to loosen your belt you're not going to want another full plate. But if someone brings you a slice of pie, you might give it a try.
I live by Dale hallow in tn and can’t catch a fish to save my life. I’ve been all over the world and have never had this kind of issue. Any suggestions if you have ever fished there .
As a kid, I didn’t have a boat and did a lot of tube fishing on my local body of water. I soon became familiar with the shade lines and how bass as ambush predators would shift around structures or under trees relative to the Sun. Being a smaller body of water, I'd often catch the same fish regularly in the same locations. That bass I may have missed early in the morning (perhaps while dormant or cruising) could often be found closer to home during the peak hours of the day. Today (30 years later), as a boat/bank fisherman, if I have a slow morning, I’ll often ride it out until the midafternoons to take advantage of this window's opportunity, targeting bass with precision casts and techniques. On the flip side, if I can’t make it to a body of water early, I'll hit this window and hang around for the evening bite as well. Another great video! I appreciate your attention to detail and science as an angler.
I new what you were going to say before I even watched the video I chased muskies for years my biggest fish came at that 1 o'clock time frame 10 to 12 ft water in the shadows of deep weeds cabbage mostly oxygen levels I believe are best at that time of day as well with photosences taken place bass take advantage of those same areas and hunt the same way it may come down to being extra stimulated with higher oxygen levels that time of day and it's much more effective on sunny days just my thoughts
I have my own theory about the 1-3 time. It's in between the morning people and the evening people. So the bass that are more aggressive that time of day don't get caught as often as the morning and evening bass and live longer. There for they are generally going to be bigger.
I would love to see him do a fishing video with dude perfect… a 3 fish battle between him and Cody jones I would be dying!!! I also like that he is always just trying to pin point the whole community not just one or the “other” even though their isn’t one we all just fish a different way🤣
The biggest bass I ever hooked into was at about 1 p.m. in the afternoon and it was so big that it straightened all the trebble hooks on my lure and pulled off 5’ from the boat. It was at Lake Chickamauga.😢😢 I still want to puke over losing that fish.
Yeah early morning bite is great for numbers but I would disagree Tyler that “Biggin O’ Clock” doesn’t start til after 11 am-1 pm…I’ve caught over 50 bass last year all between 4-8 lbs between the middle of the day…in fact if the conditions are the nastiest that’s when the big ones come out….in the summer that’s right in the middle of day when the sun is scorching out or in the winter time when it’s the coldest and darkest out…
Best time to fish is early in the morning, late in the day and oh also in the middle of the day?? Not a helpful video.... might as well say go out at any time and try your luck. That makes more sense.
Maybe you should take some grammar lessons to explain things better, or pre plan your video so you can come across as more intelligent. All you did is confuse everyone.

I 💯 % agree on that 1-3. Some patience and finesse on those narrow shadows have got me plenty of nice fish.
Great video. Liking this new channel of yours a lot. Learning so much. Keep it up!

Buck Perry always said big fish move between 10-2pm
Exactly and if you wanna go really old school Doug Hannah stated mid day is best!
I used to love watching the bass professor!
Always learn something from you Tyler

Pretty good.

Great job, keep being yourself. I have used the Hellrazor (Z man), and all bites were near dark.

Would agree on that 1 to 3 afternoon bite, caught a 3.5 lb large mouth out of a pond at 2 yesterday on whopper plopper, Chicago IL
Love your videos, listening to you talk has never bother me. Im fhe same way.
I caught my PB in June on a TX reservoir around 1pm. It was scorching hot out and caught her off a brush pile right next to ledge.
Got 4 today. All between 2 and 4 PM. Barometric pressure played the biggest part as it was tumbling during that time period.
Indeed, true brother. I've caught some really nice smallies during 1pm and 3pm. I've gone to ultra light because it's easier to handle. Good stuff! Caught my largie PB at 11:30 AM - 6lb 11oz.
I can also contest to the 1-3 time slot, last July 1st at almost exactly 3pm caught my PB 4lb Smallie on a grass/veg flat

Thanks thinking about it that has happened to me and I will thinking about that next tournament
Love the channel and your content keep up the great work
When I met you at the Columbus fishing expo, I bought that exact Finn shirt. I didn’t get a pair of free gloves. 😂
Thanks for taking time to talk and sign my shirt
Well you got a gooooood discount on the shirt at the show :) It was fun meeting people!
Could it correlate to moon overhead or underfoot?
I've been using Doug Hannon's' Moon Clock, it's been accurate and dependable. The professor knew his stuff.
I watched a bass move along the edge of a dam with a little piece of built up wall the other day. I was looking there as this was the "shade side" of the pond. My best time of day on the Oregon coast is from 10 am to 4 PM with the mid afternoon being the sweet spot.

Good info
Thats when big bass can see the best they set up on shade lines they dont make misstakes so you can get a big one but you need to be at your best

I have seen the same thing.
👍😮
Morning bite seems to be a huge factor in them feeding...
So basically breakfast, lunch on the go, and dinner😂😂 I think I can remember this one...
LOL
Just bought another shirt to get the gloves. This will be my 3rd shirt. Need to get one of those hats
Thanks for all the support man!
I swear it’s always 3-5pm for me when I get big ones.
I like dusk the best

Wait don't you have a golf channel too?
The best time for me is around 11am to 3 pm.
Bro said the morning. Then the evening. Then the afternoon. Just say the whole day.
hahahaha
Night time for ponds
Night fishing is fantastic...especially in summer..i should have talked about this a little more but thats a topic for another day
I think the word you were looking for was Opportunistic.
This guy looks like Cody Jones from dude Perfect
The best time of day to go fishing is anytime of day that you can be on the water vs work and chores.
Thats the truth
Predictable v and positioning
Routine. Predictable. These words
Try predictable.
To the guy complaining about your grammar. If you don’t like the way he talks , don’t watch, easy fix , your welcome
