As a kayak fisherman in Ohio there is a 4th technique. Sit home and watch TH-cam fishing videos. 😂 Man I'm going through withdrawal. I just wanna be kayaking down my river slaying bass.
@@ryanp1874 Steelhead are running at the moment but I love my bass fishing. I used to fly fish for steelhead and have ice on my rod tips and frozen waders but I got addicted to kayak bass fishing. Plus I got a crappy knee from wading rivers years ago. 😂
I agree with all of your selections for cold water. As for blade baits, some work better with double hooks over split rings with trebles. The Reef Runner Cicada is one and another is the Cabelas Mean Eye. It all depends on the bait design. You just have to experiment with which type of hook fouls less. They are hard to beat for a reaction strike.
When it gets cold, snow is here, the water has ice around the banks then it’s monster trout, nice smallies and fat walleye. Largemouth is a fair weather fish and as I get older……me also.
I have been catching 1 lbers in North Florida, no big ones either. I saw some big fish feeding on top last week before the last cold fronts, but that stopped. Had a big fish take me down into a culvert and cut the line, but I suspect it wasn't a bass.
Yeah I dunno man…in Maryland at least, these tactics work awesome in the early-mid fall. Even the remaining stocked trout are hook shy now. Pike and pickerel are fun, but they’re also now post spawn. Blue cats are really the only game at the moment 😢
I live about 10 minutes from alum creek. I would say it’s one of the best lakes in Ohio honestly. I’ve been getting some decent bass on the smallest size Berkley MB. Love that thing.
Most drop shots that are cast out, I would think, are not actually suspending that far off the bottom. Plus, the angler can just let it sink to the bottom if they want. At my lake, the bottom is matted with vegetation so, the Ned Rig, depending on it's length, gets lost in that vegetation. The Drop Shot will at least sit a little above that. JMO
Tyler: I'm on board with the guy that asked about river (do people do well in rivers when it's cold). So why did you say you tend to stay away from rivers during cold months?.... if I may ask
I've had decent luck throwing Ned rigs in deep holes at my local river, targeting trout is also a great choice for winter river fishing cause they love and stay active on the cold water

😂😂😂😂
I usually start deer hunting when it gets too cold to fish.
i’m from MI and no ice yet. but you can still bank fish for perch, walleye burbot salmon etc. this time of year if you know what you’re doing
I hucked a jig at hard ice last weekend in NH
Im not proud but i did it

I make my own blade baits, been making for 30 yrs or so and I put split rings on them with good hooks.
Mike really like your
Video i started bass 🐟 because of you I learned so you mad it fun 😁
gotta love this S.E. Ohio weather, not so much snow, just cold as the Arctic Tundra here
I'm in West Virginia man it 22 right now 😂
Lmao tried to stop by blackhand earlier I walked straight back to the truck after a cast…it was cold.
Thanks for the tips on colder water! That's the most challenging time for sure.
Love what you are saying! It would be even better if you could show us the baits you are talking about.
2 bangers in one day im loving it. Keep the great videos coming my fellow fishing friend 🤙🏽🎣
Great cold water episode man needed the blade bait confidence !
Using scent in the winter has always got more bites for me especially on a slow moving bait

So what are your bank fishing options for Cold weather still a bitsy bug jig or ned?
Live minnows have been consistently catching me fish in the winter. I typically like doing a slip bobber setup.
Tyler, awesome Channel, thank you!
Super informative video, thanks Tyler!
Thanks Tyler! What's up man iv learned so much from your videos I appreciate you big time! Northeast Ohio local 😎👉👉
Yup.. Tyler and tactical bassin are the only 2 fishing channels needed.
Great title and video. Thank you
for the blade bait, what rod action do you recommend? Just a standard medium fast or medium light fast?

1. Ned rig/shakey head
2. Blade bait
3. Jighead minnow
Great suggestions, but I would have to add the suspending Jerkbait, especially the deeper ones.
Needed this video literally 20 min ago man
It's been cold here in Florida. But I did catch 16 bass yesterday. All small, haven't been able to get the big ones to bite.

@Steve-ev6vx I'm in north fl too and caught 12 more today all small. 1 to 2

So what do you do when you fish that blade bait and your fishing it so slow it doesn’t vibrate?
So you need to yo-yo it more often…. Gotcha .. cause I love me a blade bait

My wife and I are going to try to fish for stripe. We need some help I hope you or your viewers can help us. We will be on the Cumberland in tn
We will try anything that you suggest
Why not use a real short leader on the drop shop??
Do people still do well in rivers when it gets cold? I don't have many kayakable lakes around me and really start to struggle this time of year
Yes river fishing still in mass and Rhode Island
I've had decent luck throwing Ned rigs in deep holes at my local river, targeting trout is also a great choice for winter river fishing cause they love and stay active on the cold water
@Kharma710 I probably need to throw a ned rig more. You don't lose too many of them when you fish it?
You can still fish... just ice fishing lol.
Damiki blade bait
Try a lipless instead of a blade bait , trust me
No Neko rig? I seem to do better on that than a shakes head, even if I fish the shakey very slowly.
It's 29 here lakes are iced over with thin ice. So them techniques won't work for me😂😂 no fishing going on here right now.
Let’s goo
Cold water slow down your presentation the water will be the warmest around rocks and trees that protrudes from the water
