Disappointed. I really wanted to feel like snake in VR. I feel like a lot of these developers should use a more stylized art style until we get stronger hardware to push realistic type graphics. And a stealth game demands decent AI
Exactly borderlands style would be easier to pull off.
I thought the ai was pretty good? Why do you think it’s bad?
if I were you, I'd give it a try. GT's criticism is spot-on but he didn't highlight it's strong points enough. The environments are cool and they are full of objects with interactive physics (which is rare on standalone). The AI could be more consistent but I find the stealth play very entertaining. Some of the cutscenes are jaw-dropping, very very cool. As GT noted, you can just go guns blazing instead of wasting time hiding in the dark but if you are happy playing at your pace to get extra score for pacifist runs, you can have a blast.

@@tattoodrdoke well games like espire aren’t really built around a physics based experience. I think after playing espire 2 that it would actually feel worse with the boneworks engine because that’s just not the kind of game it is

I've been enjoying it on a surface level. I guess a better way to put it would be, I'm accepting it for what it is.
There are a lot of great ideas, some even well executed, but it doesn't feel like it comes together as well as it should.
It's fun enough for a sale, but it's no splinter cell.
Last night I watched this and since then I tried the game and most of your complaints are not present idk if this was fixed in an update but I recommend this game I’m not even a big fan of stealth but I really enjoyed this game
Is the AI better? That’s the big thing keeping me from playing ether game.

I feel the disappointment
Yeah I ended up returning it. The guns themselves aren't great, a lot of bullets going through people and headshots not doing extra damage. It was very disappointing for me considering how excited I was starting it
I really don't like when my suspicions are correct. Damn it! I sincerely appreciate the honest review as always, GT. At this point, I'm starting to wonder if outside of Phantom if its mods where we'll finally get proper VR stealth. 😩 I'll keep a pulse on this one in hopes with updates it'll get better but that was NOT the case with the original. 👊🍺

Bro buy it it's the best game I ever had
Great review GT! I can't say I am too surprised. Inspire 1 had a lot of issues and only some were fixed over time and the PCVR version of the game was abandoned. It looks like they also abandoned working on Inspire one without fixing its issues. So I don't see inspire 2 making leaps of progress post release.
I appreciate the review. I picked up the first game wanting to love it. For some reason, I never really played it. So in preparation for this release, I went back and started playing the first game again. Now I'm reminded why I stopped playing it the first time around. I think a 6/10 describes it perfectly. Like I said, I really want to love this series. The concept is fantastic. But for now I think I'll just keep my ear to the ground and see if future updates improves the situation at all.

Idk man, i loved it and find that both the games are really fun. Mabye becues ive only spent a shitload of time into superhot and sniper elite vr on my quest, and these games are both of them with cutscenes. Easy 8/10 for me but i try speedrunning espire quite a bit so its a bit biased
I thought you exaggerated but I've spent some 9 hours playing the game and I totally agree with your point. This game is a mixed bag. The mechanics are cool, some visual effects are cool, the plot is ok, BUT there are many things that look unfinished and could use some serious polishing. The helicopter fight is really crappy and uninteresting and the animation of the characters during the cutscenes is embarrassing. The difficulty could be tweaked too, it is way too easy to go guns blazing and sometimes stealth doesn't pay off (I like pacifist runs but I found out that I could get 5 stars being loud a couple of times)

GT keeping it real! All of this was visible in the trailer unfortunately and it feels like the quest is at its end - VR Games are being held back by the quest and the only hope left is psvr 2..
I do think the PCVR version (if we get one) will help alot of this

I wanted to buy this to play the campaign with my friend and going on an adventure together. Turns out you can't do that... thanks. You saved me some money
While both Espire 1 and 2 both look good they both seem to suffer from what I like to call “the Dishonored problem”, in that a stealth game tries to give you all these options in both movement and stealth/combat, but the AI is too stupid to make those options worth while. A lot of open world stealth games have this issue too, especially Ubisoft games, but I use Dishonored as an example because it’s the most notable. I recall the initial release of Espire 1 had complaints of the AI was actually able to spot you too easily, so I suspect that the devs went too far in the other direction.
I really enjoyed espire 1, so ill definitely be picking up espire 2 at some point

Oh noes. I preordered and I'm eager to try it but this isn't a good start. We desperately need co-op stealth games, it is sad to hear that this one had the potential to scratch that ich but it doesn't deliver. In terms of the single player titles that are already there, I quite enjoyed Phantom Spec Ops, even though I got a bit fed up of rowing. And I quite enjoyed Sniper Elite VR. Getting all the stars in the stealth missions in Sniper Elite was a huge endeavour and I enjoyed it wholeheartedly. I read somewhere that they made it easier in one of the updates but I shed blood and tears back in the day.
What about budget cuts 1&2 ?

See, this is why I come to you, Benjo etc before buying new releases. Games always look amazing, but there seems to be a high volume of buggy messy games right now. It's a total shame as well because they did look excellent and full of potential!
Too bad, was really looking forward to having another vr coop game to play with my wife. We recently finished the short but really fun coop game Final Space on Quest.

In gaming more than ever coop games feel as a cop out to for devs to make a great game example being Gotham nights. However, the game looks uninspired and lacks the mechanics a Tom Clancy game implemented back in the day to immerse people with a stealth game. Instead of enjoying this game your left wondering of what could’ve been.

This was just so predictable when zuckerberg killed oculus what would happen , since then there has been a steady decline in game quality along with less and less interest in VR from the wider gaming community.

I pre ordered this game, and refunded after hearing and seeing this review. I don't need to play it. I'm so sick of being hyped for games that turn out to be garbage. This is EXACTLY the type of Steam Early Access Indie Dev jank low quality crap that drove me to buy a Quest in the first place. I thought Oculus store would be more regulated and curated.
They promised they'd fix the first game. They didn't. So now I don't really see why I should buy their second game. Fool me once, as they say.

The ending was super confusing and jarring for me. Left with a feelings of abandonment and buyers remorse. Quite disappointed.
gosh just like espire 1 they over promised and under delivered sadly... The trailers and cgi scenes made it look like this game was gonna be a robust stealth co-op adventure and it's still just average with broken A.I. T_T

Sounds pretty much like all the same issues with the first game. Such a shame, the concept has so much potential but disappointed, was hoping this one would be a step up.

Due to the brain dead AI he complained about I think it’s fair, I haven’t played Phantom Covert Ops, but if it’s actually challenging then by default it’s better. An easy game is a boring game.

I just bought the game i'm very disappointed very it's glitchie it's not even comparable to the first one what they should i was put more levels on the first one and not worrieble trying to reinvent the wheel
