I'm so glad this channel stopped reviewing new games, and acknowledges it's on hypocrisy in the first 5 seconds of a new game review.
I tried the demo and I've got to say, WayForward did a great job capturing the spirit of how Contra is supposed to be played. I won't lie, giving players the option to go old school one hit death or a health bar is a nice touch.
@@RogueDragon05 shhhh, you know I never flip flop. Myth, slander, libel.
@@lonewolffang It's welcoming to both casual, new players, and grizzled old school veterans.
Super C was awesome. I also liked shattered soldier on PS2 about 20 years ago that was pretty cool.
Going to get this new one today and check it out. Thanks for the awesome video bro!
So puzzling that Hardcorps Uprising never got the Contra name. Criminally underrated game!!
It is weird. I imagine some people don't even realize it was a Contra game considering they dropped it from the title.
Maybe because the were no aliens, and the devs were worried that if they added Contra in the name, then fans will be confused by the lack of aliens.
Damn, this game feels like an actual apology after the last contra game (Rogue Corps) that Konami released.
I only played Rogue Corps a couple hours then never touched it again. It was not good at all
Imagine Hard Corps: Uprising on PS5 in 4K / 120fps. There's no reason for this to not exist.
Yes please
Good review, I'm glad to see series like this making a decent comeback
Finally
Last time Locking n' Loading looked this good was on the DS and PS3 and Wii!
Sweet 8bit Contra 4 soundtrack sick.
Thanks for this!! I miss GOOD Contra!! Now got my wife playing!!
Awesome! Such a great game
Wayforward should be dropped on Galuga for not including online play. I’m pretty confident the main demographic for this game are all married etc and we’d like to play with our buddies who live away etc.
Online play would've been amazing. Idk why games that have local coop don't include online play by default.
Are they going add online co op later ?????
No word on that yet but I hope so. That would be a great addition
Actually might pick this game up if it goes on sale or comes to game pass.
It's only $40 at least too, so not even a full priced game.
It's on sale now
Been playing for 3 hours straight...very very fun!
How far have you made it in those 3 hours? Did you get through the story mode yet all the way yet?
Fabian, it dropped (for the public) at 1am PST.
Had it scheduled for 12 am but I guess TH-cam didn't account for the time change when I scheduled it.
I love too how the characters don't all look like anime women like they did with Castlevania.
What are your thoughts on Hard Corps Uprising? That was the last good Contra game back on the PS3/360 era that went for an anime style.
5:40 that's also the boss from Stage 6 Energy Zone iirc from the original Contra
Yep, many times my game would end at that boss and I'd get a game over
loving this game! brings back my younger days
It’s expensive
But,40 bucks tho? 20 bucks I buy it
I'm sure it'll be on sale at some point for that price.
I'm really glad this game is actually a pretty good revival for a long forgotten konami franchise. Hopefully, castlevaina gets a revival of the same quality.
I think WayForward would be great at developing one. They've already touched on the Metroidvania exploration style. Them or Mercury Steam should do Castlevania.
Why is a 2 hour game FIFTY DOLLARS???
It's $39.99 and there's a lot more playability than 2 hours
@@GamerThumbTV $53.49 Canadian on Steam. I'm sure I can replay the game but it's just New Game + on a 2 hour experience. That's crazy expensive.
@@GamerThumbTV$53.49 Canadian. Just because you can essentially New Game + doesn't give you more content.
Hard mode took me a good 3 to 4 hours on a first playthrough. And the new unlockables in the store after the story mode is beaten are great additions that will take a while to unlock. Depends how you feel about retro style replayability.
Some games, like Devil May Cry, are short but are meant to be replayed over and over to get the most out of them.
If you're the type who puts a game on the shelf for good once you reach the credits, Contra is not for you.
Great game. Plays tight, runs smoothly, and I'm really enjoying the challenge mode.
Although the levels are a bit too long so the pacing isn't as tight as I'd like.
I'm ok with the levels being as long as they are since this kind of game is short in general. But man, I hated that Temple level...
I really dislike the art style they went with here. Everything looks so... Flat. That said, if the gameplay is actually solid than ill give it a download.
I wasn't sure about the art style either but the gameplay is good. It just looks a bit too colourful and cheerful like donkey Kong or mario.
Like I said in the review, the art style is completely a matter of opinion. But I can vouch that the gameplay is absolutely solid, classic Contra.
@@bulbhead3333 Well the original was colurful too.
