i like that 'sling' strap technique . a simpler way i've found for high stacks is to stand with your back against the stack and toss it up letting the strap unroll up over your shoulder , up the stack and over . I've taught it to very short women who couldn't get it another way . Plus you can have the hook "claw" already hooked on the rail .

Not the rub rail if it scrapes, hard break straps can snap

It's true no workers no economy. This trucker thing makes you think about how things really work. Been listening to all the old trucker songs great music and now the lyrics make sense still I don't think we understand who we are dealing with. Local state national and above that all the way up to he who cannot be named. The man of the hour. Sorry horrible it will be but inevitable. Let's just bet it over with. I hate waiting.

Glad you showed how to tighten the straps at the end, I was wondering how that was done. I've seen straps twisted and always thought that was laziness of the person strapping the load, but there is a method to the madness. Thanks ,great video

I use a mini strap or shorty for my tarps on deck , easy and faster , also never take short cuts on tarping jobs , protect that load 100% weather can change fast and there goes the load and maybe you're job ....

The way he puts the hooks.on the trailer is not safe. Ever have somewhere side swipe you it will cut every strap right off. Load will be everywhere. I hid all my hooks.

Student should be doing the strapping and tarping while the trainer is on the side line guiding him because you can't learn properly unless you're physically doing the work

I understand you can never have too many straps but agreed time is money. You need 2 in the first 2 foot of the load and another within 10 feet. Those sheets are blocking and bracing the middle set; so all you need are 2 straps on the middle and then reverse the front for the rear. Plus you never strap to the rub rail. The rub rail is protection for your load securement devices.

Wrong every flatbeds has ssecure point weight limits on each point. Every flatbed the rub rail is welded to the stake pocket holes. Trailer I have it's rated 5200lbs.

joshua roberts so many people say don’t strap to the rub rail. THEN WHERE TO STRAP TO!!🤷🏽‍♂️ Not one of you offer a solution! I’m really curious to know. I’m not being sarcastic. There’s not always somewhere to strap to under the trailer, ESPECIALLY if you have a high load. You run out of strap length trying to go under the trailer!🤷🏽‍♂️

@@justmyperspective7430 you got to ignore 95% of them on these post. Most of them has never pulled flatbed or they only been doing it 1yr. I've been doing flatbed for years. A per dot rub rail is part of the load securment. Because going to the beam can be cut from road debris. Most srivers never read that dot green book in their truck or us old school drivers call it the truckers bible.

@@rayrandy41 FMCSA Driver's Handbook on Cargo Securement - Chapter 2: General Cargo Securement Requirements
      Tiedown use
Each tiedown must be attached and secured so that it does not become loose or unfastened, open, or release during transit.
All tiedowns and other components of a cargo securement system must be located within the rubrails (when present).
Note: This requirement does not apply when the width of the load extends to or beyond the rubrails.
Randy Ray is nothing more than a troll. I am sure that somewhere, sometime he heard an ol' timer tell him something; however that simply is incorrect.
If your load is too tall, you are supposed to use extensions that are connect through the stake pocket. Not everyone has them; does not mean it is correct. They also have 40' straps ( 14.5' Up and down = 29' + 8.5'(W)= 37.5'. That still leaves 2.5' of working strap in a maxed out load.
Either way you would be running over-dimension, and would require permits. Max width 8' 6" Max Height 13' 6" to 14' 6"

How not to crack some unsuspecting passerby with a flying strap with a metal end.... on an 8 ft tall load get at least 25’ of light-weight, clothes line cord. Tie 1 end of cord to non-metal, strap end. Standing on the opposite side of trailer to strap reel, throw the wadded-up, unsecured cord over the trailer. Temporarily secure the metal hooks. Pull loose strap slack out and wind up on spool.

Or a forklift driver that’s on the other side looking at tags. I had another driver helping with tile and he threw a strap wound up and it hit the guy on the forklift knocked his paperwork out of his hands and he was pissed. I didn’t know the guy was going to help. He just walked up to the other side and started throwing straps. 🤷‍♂️

Totally unnecessary to pull from both sides. (An old wives tale.)
Far too many straps. Three straps every twelve feet is the law. Any extra makes absolutely no difference. It only causes more damage.

Billy Ray I move drywall almost every day , usually we only put 3 straps per section , that load can be well secured with 9 straps . But they are prime they love using a thousand straps per load.
