"She talks in her sleep" was actually ad libbed by Sean Connery. Spielberg loved it so much, he not only kept it in, but added several more jokes about it.

Fun Fact, the Husky we see inside the Jones house in the beginning of the movie was Indiana, George Lucas’s dog. Indiana served as the inspiration for Chewbacca the Wookie in Star Wars, and of course, the namesake of our favorite archeologist.

Harrison Ford suggested River Phoenix to play Young Indiana Jones because Harrison considered River similar to him when he has the same age. Both acted together in the movie mosquito coast

In the early 90's there was a tv show called "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles". It had episodes that featured Indy as either a young boy or young man (played by Sean Patrick Flannery instead of River Phoenix.) The episodes would begin and end with a 93 year-old Indy reminiscing in the present day about his adventures. One episode featured Harrison Ford in a short adventure instead of the old Indy It was created and produced by George Lucas. It only lasted a couple of seasons but four made for tv films were made right afterwards. It was later re-edited and called "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones". You find out things about Indy's background and family and some backstory to the movies. It was pretty good, might be something you would want to check out sometime.

Last Crusade is THE BEST in the trilogy because it's JUST a father & son bonding film solely about the adventure around his father's obsession. And he found illumination, the greatest treasure.

By far my favorite movie in the whole franchise. Story was amazing, highlights the father-son relationship between Indy and Henry, and recaptures the spiritual and adventurous tone of the first film. In the end, realizing their importance to each other was the greatest thing they could obtain. The chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery was amazing. Steven Spielberg always wanted to direct a James Bond movie, but it instead served as an inspiration for Indiana Jones. For that reason, he was lucky to cast Sean as the father of Indy. Rest in peace Sean!

The scene in the “palace” is not a chroma key.
    It's a real location.
Like many locations in this film, is in Spain…it is a mansion in Almería.
In reality, many were filmed in Almería and Granada:
the motorcycle chase, from the planes to the car, the seagulls, when they are driving with Salah, the desert (Tabernas desert), etc etc etc

I just commented the same in another video where they put all her 5 reactions of Indy movies together. I think she thought it looked like green screen because of how the actors have an extra artificial lighting on them, which makes them look as if they were shot in a different place (like a soundstage) and not in that courtyard with its natural lighting. It's a secondary effect that used to happen quite often in old movies... Nowadays the usual practice is to just go with natural light and use the same natural light indirectly reflected to the actors as a filler for hard shadows, so the end result looks way more natural. ¡Un saludo desde Murcia!

Couple fun facts , that random building in the desert is an actual famous historical site. But even better, in raiders, the well of the souls part in which the ark is recovered... if you look in 2 different areas at the hyroglyphs, you will see r2d2 and c3po in the glyphs. Thought u might appreciate that speilburg and Lucas throw back to each others movies. They r old friends , so they give a nod in their movies sometimes to each other. Easter eggs , from friend to friend.

That last location with the building in the cliff, that’s is a real place called Petra. I don’t believe the interior shots were filmed there but the exterior is accurate and real. In hindsight, Indy should have grabbed all the other cups, they’d be worth a bundle.

Sir Sean Connery was always Steven Spielberg's first choice to play Indiana Jones' father, as an inside joke to say that James Bond is the father of Indiana Jones. If that had failed, Gregory Peck and Jon Pertwee were backup choices for the role. Spielberg had always wanted to do a Bond movie but did Indiana Jones as a James Bond-type character. In keeping with the James Bond theme, the movie has many Bond movie co-stars: John Rhys-Davies, Alison Doody, Julian Glover, Stefan Kalipha, Pat Roach, Eugene Lipinski, Michael Byrne, and Vernon Dobtcheff.

There were no effects in the part you thought looked green screened. It was just a simple location shoot at a former convent in Spain.
I think what you're seeing is "ringing" from digital sharpening. It's especially thick and awful on DVDs, but it can also come from your TV settings.
It could also be color bleeding from similar issues.

Do you still think the Indy movies invented that jacket & fedora combo? You should go watch Charlton Heston in "Secret of the Incas" (1954), the source of a lot of the Raiders tropes. Partially shot on location in Peru, it's a decent little adventure too. Something else you might enjoy, and one of my all time favorite movies is "The Wind and the Lion" (1975) which stars Sean Connery and a bunch of other famous faces. It's a fun and romantic historical adventure set in 1904 Morocco, with a clever witty script, a great Jerry Goldsmith score, lovely scenery & cinematography, and a portrayal of Teddy Roosevelt that should have won an Oscar for Brian Keith. Written and directed by John Milius.

I think in that case high temperatures would be more of a concern than lack of oxygen. They are in an air bubble insulated by the water around them, and protected from above by a stone box, so the fire would not consume the oxygen in their tiny chamber...
I don't know about other landscapes, but the beach scene where he uses his umbrella,,, it was a Spanish beach.
That random building in the middle of the canyon really exists, it's part of the ruins of the Nabataean city of Petra, and it's very famous. It's actually a pantheon, if I remember correctly, and it's not very deep, but they used the facade in the film to suggest the entrance to a huge temple or something like that.

Sean Connery was only, like, 12 years older than Harrison Ford... playing his dad :P
The main reason Connery was cast as Indy's dad is because, as James Bond, Bond is the father of Indy. Not in canon, but Spielberg wanted to make a James Bond movie after Close Encounters. He couldn't because the rights belonged to the Broccoli family & EON productions. Spielberg's buddy, George Lucas, was like, "Hey, I have something better than Bond...Indiana Jones."
    And so it began...

This movie is the exception when it comes to the 3rd movie in a trilogy before the fourth one

    * Great reactions to these films. A fun fact about this one, is that the man that was dressed like Indy at the beginning of the film, wasn't just some random dude. He just so happened to be none other than *Professor* *Abner* *Garth* *Ravenwood* in the flesh(sometimes called "Fedora Garth" or just simply "Fedora", because it was like as if that hat was literally attached to his head). You know, Marion Ravenwood's father(mentioned in *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Raiders* *of* *the* *Lost* *Ark* ). The dog they showed wasn't his 1st dog(as seen in *The* *Adventures* *of* *Young* *Indiana* *Jones* television mini-series). It was his 2nd dog(that was given the same name). Indy's 1st dog died from a Mojave rattlesnake bite while protecting Indy from it.
    * So Henry Jr. renamed himself "Indiana", so that his beloved dog would be with him in spirit on all of his adventures. After *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Last* *Crusade* he went on the following adventures: "Indiana Jones and the Dragon of Vengeance"(1938), "Indiana Jones and the Gold of Genghis Khan"(Find Your Fate novel), *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Thunder* *In* *the* *Orient* comic book mini-series, "Indiana Jones and the Lost Treasure of Sheba"(1938), *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Staff* *of* *Kings* (1939) video game, "Indiana Jones and the Longship of the Gods"(novel), *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Fate* *of* *Atlantis* comic book mini-series, and "Indiana Jones and the Ape Slaves of Howling Island"(1939) Find Your Fate.
    * After those, were: "Indiana Jones and the Mask of the Elephant"(1939) Find Your Fate, *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Sargasso* *Pirates* (1939) comic book mini-series, "Indiana Jones and the Avalon Inheritance"(1940) novel, *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Golden* *Fleece* (1941) comic book mini-series, "Indiana Jones and the Labyrinth of Horus"(novel), "Indiana Jones and the Sword of Genghis Khan"(novel), "Indiana Jones and the Pyramid of the Sorcerer"(novel), "Indiana Jones and the Mystery of Mount Sinai"(novel), "Indiana Jones and the Secret of Easter Island"(1941) novel, "Indiana Jones and the Gold of El Dorado"(1943) novel, "Indiana Jones and the Army of the Dead"(novel), and "Indiana Jones and the Lost People"(1943) novel.
    * What followed after that was: "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"(1944) flashback sequence, *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Spear* *of* *Destiny* (1944) comic book mini-series, *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Iron* *Phoenix* (1947) comic book mini-series, *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Infernal* *Machine* (1947) video game, "Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues"(1950, "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones" television mini-series season 2, episode 5), *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Kingdom* *of* *the* *Crystal* *Skull* (1957) film, and finally *Indiana* *Jones* *and* *the* *Dial* *of* *Destiny.* (1969) film.
    * Some of my favorite musical score from the "Raiders" soundtrack are: "In the Jungle", "The Idol's Temple", "Escape from the Temple" and "Flight from Peru". A couple of my favorites from "Temple of Doom" were: "Sacrifice" and the TH-cam video entitled "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Complete Score- The Rope Bridge(Percussion) (Unreleased)" by DLMusic. If anyone feels like doing some Indiana Jones cosplay, a good place to shop online would be the *Etsy* website. My favorite Indy hat, is the one that Etsy calls the "Handmade ROTLA style Fedora" because it's got the tight pinch in the front, just like the "Raiders" hat. There's a slight problem though. The hat's gonna cost you $450. I know. "Ouchy". However, it *is* an exact replica of the hat Jones wore in Raiders.
    * If you want a better deal than that, there is a really nice Indiana Jones fedora that is pretty close to the Raiders. You can find it on the "Miller Hats" website. For your search on that website, simply type in "Style: 343 Miller Tight Pinch Indy Hat" for $200. It has a black ribbon and bow and a concave top. That's about as cheap as you can go if you wanna get yourself a really nice Indiana Jones hat. Any cheaper than that, and the quality, and the look of it is *not* going to be very good. Etsy also has a really good "Raiders" jacket. Search for the one that says "Original Maker Raiders of the Lost Ark Leather Jacket in Brown Goatskin". There again, it's an exact replica of the one Harrison wore in "Raiders". It's even cheaper than the hat, but it'll still cost you about $300.
    * In addition to that, they also have the "whip". The one that Etsy calls: "Kangaroo Hide Leather Bullwhip, 4ft to 12ft, 12 Plait Leather Bullwhip, Indiana Jones Styles" and it appears to be an exact replica of the one in the films. It'll cost you about $149.90. Make sure you get one that is 12' long, because that was the length of Indy's bullwhip. Etsy also has all of the other accessories to complete the costume. Such as, the whip strap, the pants, the boots, the shirt, the belts, the satchel, the revolver, the gun holster, the gloves and much, much more. This costume would also be great for Halloween, or even Comic-Con.

No temple of doom was a prequel to raiders. It was I believe 1927.

If you play video games, try the Uncharted series. It's very much inspired by Indiana Jones as well as the Mummy series with Brendan Fraser.

Yeah, Indy making a torch out of the petroleum was a bit handwavy. In at least one shot, a flaming ember drops from the torch (because pieces will burn loose, still have enough weight to fall, but still be ignited), which should have already set off all the petroleum, at least until the amount of oxygen dropped enough. Or it would just keep burning underneath the cathedral until they cut off enough air..
Indy pretending to be Scottish is kinda accurate. Particularly in the earlier parts of WW2 or just prior to it's starting, Nazi sympathizers existed in the west, some in the US, but apparently there were quite a few in Scotland too.
