Hi, I am a newbie. Thanks for sharing your brushless upgrade with 2440 4600kv. I just ordered all the components and will upgrade exactly the same as you did, because I agree that it is the most realistic build considering the small space on 14401, and as you achieved 54 mph it is an enough speed for me. My bit concern is, with a small diameter (compared to 3650 brushless), will it stand the heat, especially when using 3s?

    • @classicvwbugs

I wouldn't recommend any wet conditions because it will slowly mess up your rc car, bearings will get noisy, motor will start to screech, and the esc will eventually burn out, even small puddles can cause problems later down the road, with your electronic and bearings, if you run the rc in water, rain, snow, puddles dry the rc with compressed air when finished or with blow dryer
If you live in areas where they use salt to de ice I'd recommend staying away from any road salted roads parking lots or paths, but this is my recommendation if you have any second guesses about where or when you want to run your rc car don't do it
but if you just want to have a good time for a short period of time run it however you decide but stuff will wear out and need replacing
If you take a bit of caution when playing. about weather, when, where the rc car will last a long time as long you take care of it

So when i raced on carpet back in the late 90s all we had were nicads but i mainly ran the "stock" class and imo that 550 can motor is a "stock" motor but its timed really slow and im betting its a cheap crawler motor or what was called 17.5 spec class motor thats why wltoys ran the 27T pinion. Why does this matter? well i think your 13T motor is a "mod" motor and pulls way to many amps for a small esc. When i raced stock class was a 27T motor but they would blow that 550 motor away. I remember running a bunch of them but off the top of my head was one called "the Trinity green machine or the midnight" it was a fixed timing 24 and 34 degrees (all stock motor were fixed timing) but it was 27 turn and im sure it would of #1 ran faster then that 550 #2 ran fine on that stock esc. Now i know people claim or ive read that the stock wltoys motor was a 17 turn but im betting it has a low timing or something to keep it from drawing a ton of amps like your 13T one did. I think if you gave the brushed setup another shot with an actual 27T "stock" brushed motor you will be suprised at the results. Brushed motors are like tube amps there is something different about them that makes them special. Brushless is cool but they seem to be missing something
