Not surprised! I was gasping for breath just watching! Can’t begin to understand what it’s like at 11,000 feet +. I live at 50 feet above sea level! 🤣🤣🤣
As a CT hiker who hiked the trail this summer, nothing resonates with me more than the part that starts at roughly 17:55 and ends at 18:50 , its nice to know that someone who oozes positivity still felt those same emotions I did at times on the trail. I would feel so conflicted when I was in one of the most beautiful places in the world, doing what most people dream of doing, yet I would grind and grind, and feel defeat, discomfort, and almost pure displeasure and animosity towards what I was doing. That's not to say that I think the negatives outweighed the positives during the trip, probably quite on the contrary, but I think I was just confused with those thoughts I was having at the time and yeah, you summed them up perfectly during that part of the video. Typing this now, I am looking back at those 4.5 weeks on the trail very very very fondly indeed.
Nothing but picturesque scenery as far as the eye can see. Thank you for suffering in such a beautiful place so that we can all have a glimpse of the majesty that Colorado has to offer.
Whoa bro that's intense I wish I had your energy, at one time I did now I'm an old man wishing for the glory days again Ryan remember this my friend the worst thing about getting old is remembering when you was young. Live it to the fullest bro!!! I know I did! Safe travels my friend.
Gotta dig deep some days, and you've got one huge hole after this. You're an inspiration Ryan. Thank you for always being one of the most uplifting people I follow.
Only 3 min in, but I just gotta say that high alpine single track is some true beauty. Only those who can earn it can experience it. It’s a whole different world up there
This channel is way up there on the most inspirational scale. I'm currently saving up to go on a bike packing adventure myself. I'm very unfortunate to not have a steady supply of income at the moment but saving up will give me loads of time to train for the adventure ahead. Thank you Ryan for these amazing videos. Much love from Sheffield, England!
Ridge riding above the tree line is the best...challenging at times and the weather kicks your ass...but those views make it all worthwhile !! Thanks for the awesome footage ✋ ❤🇨🇦
These are the times when we find out what we’re made of. And when we reach our goal/ destination, it feels GREAT and we will always remember them. HOW AWESOME! Your positive attitude is inspiring and contagious. THANK YOU!
Complete flashbacks...I did the CTR Race in 2012 (finished last, but i finished), and the section 22/23 day was by far the most challenging to me. That push up that rock face/scree field: push bike, step, step; push bike, step, step - for what felt like an eternity. I went down the backside of the high point in a thunderstorm at full tilt, trying to get out of the storm. Thanks for making this video and reminding of how beautiful it is out there even when suffering.
Well done on making it to Silverton..that climbing looked intense! And fair play to those two guys who rode in with you and set you up in that trailer. Wow, the kindness of strangers never ceases to amaze! 👍
Oh my…….I know that moment when enjoyment turns to misery and you question how you are going to get out of your fix. These times make the best stories for sure, and now yours is immortalized in TH-cam history. Thanks for taking us along.
15:55 It's recommended not to pack more than 15% of a dog's weight on their back, therefore you would need roughly 83 chihuahuas to carry your gear up the side of that mountain.
I worked on the Colorado Trail near Silverton and sleeping at that altitude, I always felt tired in the morning. Beautiful views. We only had rain once in 13 days which was great. That Monarch Crest Trail must have felt heavenly after the Colorado Trail.
I sure can relate to your suffering and what is takes from your body and mind. In August, I did a 70 mile solo backpack trip on a section of the JMT. I've never felt so horrible for such a long period of time ever !! Altitude sickness kicked in and I had an incredibly hard time eating enough day to day. It left me calorie depleted, rinse and repeat for seven days ! I left part of my soul on that trail. Need to find my joy again in the backcountry ! Everyday I asked the great spirit for help and thanked for the breath in my lungs and got me through another day.
this is such an inspiring joy to behold your epic undertaking.. im sure the joy of ‘doing it’ hits you at some point.. and really appreciating some of the recent music choices.. the piano pieces seem so fitting .. well done all around!
What a great idea using goats! I bet that you would get very attached to them. Imagine rolling into a remote town with a pack of goats. Imagine the reaction. The biggest complement that you can give people like this, and Ryan, is to say "You are not normal"
I can't tell you anything that hasn't already been said. Just thank you for sharing your adventures! I need cycling to offset a health issue, and my normal road rides were getting stale. Your adventures have opened my eyes and refreshed my love for our sport. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am a roadie, through and through. I've mountain biked out in the Phoenix are a few times with some friends and really enjoyed it. Watching your videos, Beans, really makes me want to get a MTB. Not necessarily for the sufferfest of hail and mountain storms, but more for the unworldly views. Every single video of yours that I've watched, I think to myself, "That. Is. Gorgeous. What an amazing view". I really do need to get out and see some of that stuff for myself. What a challenging segment. I too, often find myself doing a version of your "gratitude march". Been there and it does help. Another fantastically edited video. Thanks!
What a tough day! When I encounter very challenging days like that I have gratitude for the fact that I have a body strong enough to do it. I know so many people that dont even have the strength to get on a bike or walk a mile for that matter. Good for you to stay positive....another epic adventure
Shout out from Florida. I have been inspired to go another week with a no quit altitude. Thank you Ryan. Be safe brother and I definitely will be praying for strength for you through these journey's you share with us.
Incredible. This has to be one for the record books--amazing that we can enjoy the beauty without the suffering, although more than ever, we can see it on your face and hear it in your voice. Once again, thanks Ryan for taking us along for the adventure and for your storytelling, and video/musical production skills. It makes a tremendous package!
I rode this section back in June. Thanks for documenting it. My trip was much the same, but I don’t have the patients or skill to video it like you did. Thx again.
Nice job Duzer! Way to keep after it! You'll be able to look back when you have a hard day and think "this isn't as hard as that day on the Colorado Trail"!
I have symapathy for you when you complain, as in the rain because I know it's a valid complaint. I work hard on my bicycle too And it can hurt my muscles. But that goes away the next day. I post on Solitary Cyclist with good photos. I enjoy being on the road and coming upon other cyclists then pulling my bike to the side to chill. You inspire so many people to do so many things in their lives and how you Love others in your videos is inspiring to be a good person to all. We need more people like you. Don't ever give up, cause I'm not either.
What a ride! Glad you made it through the rocky patches and the thunderstorm. It made the downhill sections that much more vicariously pleasing! Godspeed.
Those two Colorado guys and the Air stream friend are so cool and awesome. Would like to see the face of the Air Stream lady though. Seeing such wonderful people warms my heart.
Have you ever noticed all the good people you meet are there that's not not by chance your on a spiritual journey and so are they and knowing nature for what it is and what it offers. Many blessings and gratitude.
Hey, this was the most stressful episode! I felt anxious, amazed and relieved! But the landscapes pay it all, what some marvellous places! Glad you did well and safe!
Well.... for the viewers you looked like u were in an amazing place, those mountains and views were just fantastic, would be awesome riding them , you evenput a Kraig Adams vibe into it, even the music, cheers from portugal and keep riding strong.
Well Done Ryan!! I will think of this when I am on a harsh bike tour. Although nothing will be as hard as your experience. Amazing achievement of yours.
One you first few episodes, I thought I would add to my bucket list riding that trail. After watching episode 9, I think I I would kick the bucket by trying that. Well done Ryan! I have felt like that on much less difficult rides.
What an epic segment! I remind myself when I’m having a hard day on the bike that my worst day out riding is a heck of a lot better than my best day at work.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T ! That looked like the ride from Hell . The goats was interesting . I met some ladies with llamas on the trail once before practicing for a hiking trip .
A lot of lame corporate shills would never go, “counter message,” and admit they were having a tough time. That you are willing to do so makes your credibility skyrocket with me, which in turn just increases my respect and admiration for you more.
Definitely brutal, pushing the bike up hill. Glad to see you pushed through and it was great that your new friends held back to wait on you. Kudos to their friend for letting you stay in the trailer....bet it was the best nights sleep of the trip, especially after such a tough day.
Ryan. Awesome effort through this section of the CT. The scenery is spectacular and your drone shots are unbelievable and really enhance your production. Very happy that you safely made it to Silverton. I can only dream of having this kind of adventure, thank goodness for TH-cam. All the best!
What an adventure this has been and to be able to experience a small portion of it through your videos makes me want to get out and have my own adventures here in beautiful British Columbia! Well done!
Another awesome video Duzer! For all the hardwork the views were stupendous, like watercolour painting. I hope you rested well after this hard day. Looking forward to the next video!
Duzer. Another great one. Wow....sorry you had to go through that storm and I am glad you made it. Way to stay hard and push through the mental demons. Loved the aerials again. Can't wait for the next one. E
@@duzer for sure. What is the brand name of your rain pants? I will buy them. I am just glad you are ok. Being above tree line during that storm would have made me shit myself ! Onward you roll Duzer
What an heavy trip, Ryan. Incredible, how positive you stay during hard times. But what would be the alternative? Staying calm is always the best way and saves even energy. When I'm having hard times on my bike, I'm counting to ten. Then start at one again and so on. I like your way to think of someone you love every step you take 🙂
I still have nightmares from this day, ha!
are you taking the hiking route? Or is this supposed to be bikable?
Not surprised! I was gasping for breath just watching! Can’t begin to understand what it’s like at 11,000 feet +. I live at 50 feet above sea level! 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome scenery! Especially when the sun is out. Great drone footage too! 👍 Epic adventures.
Those valley shots were beautiful is that the hardrock 100 course?
Coolest channel on TH-cam!!!
Duzer...I don't think that you know how much you influence your followers. You're the man Ryan!!! I think hike a bike is a perfect metaphor for life.
I appreciate that. My main goal is to inspire, and I can only hope that my adventures light fires in people’s lives
I always try to remember this: "Its only through discomfort that you can achieve gratitude" that's what pushes me going during hard backpacking days
Great quote!

Your videos restores my faith in humanity. So many good and wonderful ppl out there. Doing beautiful things for strangers. Ty for your videos.
Epic illustration of resilience. Inspiring for us commoners and couch potatoes. Beautiful vistas!
After this day, I’m gonna take up being a couch potato. ;)
Nothing but picturesque scenery as far as the eye can see. Thank you for suffering in such a beautiful place so that we can all have a glimpse of the majesty that Colorado has to offer.
Thanks for watching my suffering ;)
I don't know how you did it Duzer, but you did. Hats off to you...!!!

Great advice, and something that I try to keep in mind during the tough times.
I was thinking what people like him(and me?) will be doing if 120yearsold comes round.
Gotta dig deep some days, and you've got one huge hole after this. You're an inspiration Ryan. Thank you for always being one of the most uplifting people I follow.
This one took all the digging I could muster!
That hike-a-bike is no joke! More like scramble-a-bike. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
It really is!

Thanks Chris! This one has it all
What an epic segment! I remind myself when I’m having a hard day on the bike that my worst day out riding is a heck of a lot better than my best day at work.
So we’ll said!
When you get the Drone Footage of the open Valley! It also reminds me of Hatchers Pass In Alaska! 🤔😁✌️
Man… what an effort!! Good job there!
Thanks!
That was one tough pull but you met some really nice people. Another epic video and will watch this one again. Take care, Al
Thanks Al!
That crazy violin music at 12:00+ made me think you were about to eat dirt lol.
