- Written on Thursday evening, juni 20 2024 after a long day with difficult Philosophical/Ethics challenges (my day job), this piece transport the listener to Italy on a warm, sunny day in summer. The piece, written in A minor with a modulation to C major in the middle part is a warm, reflective composition, suitable for many occasions. I hope you enjoying listening, and probably playing, as much as I did writing and playing it! Let me know what you think about my newest piece.
Here you can find the score: www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-U... (Sheetmusicplus soon follows).
For the best listening experience, I recommend using headphones, earbuds, or a hi-fi set. The sound dynamics of the pipe organ are truly remarkable and can be fully appreciated with high-quality audio equipment.
Played with the 2010 Mascioni organ from the church of San Giovanni Evangelista in Alessandria, Italy (Hauptwerk)

You weave such beauty into your 'summer day' music of gentle tranquility and emotional repose, created after a stressful day at work. Your inspired composition reveals just how important music is for finding balance and release from all the challenges life presents to us and in this reflection, Rien, you show us your own inner being - a soul of love. B R A V O !
Thanks so much Graham! As we spoke earlier… my compositions come from sudden inspirations, idea’s and thoughts, always with the goal to aim my head, soul and heart towards friendliness and beauty. And it’s very rewarding that these personal creative “outbursts” are appreciated by warmhearted people like you. :-)
Thank you Rien for this lovely new composition with a very evocative title.
Thanks Philippe! Have a nice day!
Wow~ What a beautiful and romantic piece!

Dear Rien, another beautiful cantabile, this time with a completely different background. Very beautiful!
Thanks a lot! :-)
Music is very good therapy so writing it must be even better! Congratulations!
Thanks! Happily it's above all fun to create!
Very calming. Appropriate when sitting in a traffic jam.
Thanks! On Friday? That’s bad. I wish you a nice day!
Beautiful Rien
Thanks Lluis!
Met zo'n stuk muziek komt je geest zeker tot rust. Bravo!
Dank Nils!
I love it because it sounds, in the best sense, like it was born of the moment. There are a few spontaneous harmonic changes that keep the piece very lively! It sounds as if you had captured an improvisation in sheet music. GREAT!
Thanks! ☺️ have a nice day!
I’m listening to your new Cantabile on the way to the university in the public transport. It’s very calming.❤
Thanks Vidas! Save travels!
Thanks Markus. I’m so happy that these compositions, reflections of my thoughts and feelings are appreciated by others. You write too, so you know what I mean. :-)
I agree either way all the comment so far. I’m wondering how you got it composed and printed and recorded so quickly.
Nice question Andrew! Let me explain my writing process... I get an idea in my head out of thin air. Yesterday, I got it while watching Netflix. So, I walked to the piano (10 steps) and tried it out along with some harmonies. In a few minutes, I had the basic idea for the first and last parts. I then went back and grabbed my MacBook to write the notes down in Sibelius. After completing the first part (choral structure, both hands on one manual), I aimed for a simple yet engaging middle part with a solo voice. I considered A major but opted for C major instead. It required a transition from just one note. To return to A minor for the final part, I only needed an E7 to Am chord instead of G to C.
After finishing the composition, I hit the print button. I rushed upstairs to my organ studio on the roof of our house. The printer is located in my organ room. I started Hauptwerk and tested out my composition. There were several harmonic errors that required six printouts with adjustments before I was satisfied. Once done, I recorded it and tidied up the score for distribution.
I then hurried downstairs, edited it with Final Cut Pro, and made it available on TH-cam in the release queue. Following that, I uploaded the sheet music, along with an MP3 example, to ArrangeMe. Luckily, it was swiftly accessible on Sheet Music Direct within an hour. The entire process took me 4-5 hours, and yes, for me, it's a high-energy activity that fuels me with adrenaline. While it follows a simple ABA format, I take pleasure in crafting heartfelt and warm pieces directly from the soul! 🎵🎹🌟 #MusicComposition #CreativeProcess #FromTheHeart
