A word about a flanker's radar. It's not as bad as people tend to think of it. Its scan takes a lot of time to complete, but it covers a full 10 degrees of elevation AND some descent horizontal angles. For comparison, f15c's radar only covers 4 (as I remember, anyway, way less) degrees vertical at wide tws, and 8 degrees at narrow tws. So, it's a good search pattern. One shouldn't rely on launching missiles in tws, just search for targets in tws, lock them, fire an r77 and repeat
This is my 2nd favorite flanker, only beat by the SU-30 (pls Gaijin I hope it's in the next major update). I hope this thing does get an engine buff, or at least a tech tree version with better countermeasure load, and engines since Russia currently has an active program that is going to replace the older engines.

I'd say it's better than the su27 with r77s simply because you can stop kidding yourself about getting kills with the r77 and just play normal flanker tactics. Russia won't be in the bvr/medium range debate until r27ea minimum. This plane at least gets down tiered a bit more often.
I think the playerbase is large enough that we can finally get rid of the +/- 1 BR spread in the matchmaker. It is unbelievably stupid that you can be forced to be an RP piñata for players in much better vehicles because the matchmaker says so.
